  1. I would not be surprised, to abate fears of discretionary flying, that planes get retro-fitted with 'social distancing' seating and air flight becomes a thing for the wealthy.
  2. But: would a 1980 3-series rightly be classified as a luxury car? Or a 5-series? An ‘80 s-class isn’t even a propoer luxury car. converging plot lines.
  3. I’m not seeing how what you said is different than what dfelt said. Let me put it this way; what has “German luxury done”??
  4. IMO, you are incorrect in your assessment. Look at the situation like a plotted graph. The German twins were miles apart from where Cadillac / Lincoln / Imperial were, but as you plot the lines, they converge. BMW/MB gained amenities, luxury, power and detailing where they had very little or none, and Cadillac adopted more 'international' sizing & styling. Cadillac has ALWAYS adapted to markets & times- look at all the different variations of their logo over the years. It is NOT 'Cadillac building a copy of the Germans'; it is simply that the plotted lines have converged. That is; unless you are also of the opinion that BMW/MB are 'building copies of American luxury cars'... then I'm OK with your assessment. XT CUVs are quite obviously not rebadges- it's ridiculous to call them that. And they compete very well sales-wise in their segments, which are heavily populated. They're not for me, but obviously they're successful (not a 'fail').
  5. It is the Alaska earthquake, but I believe it was '62, not '64 as mentioned above. I grab so many vintage pics... many from Lib of Congress' site, but not sure this is from that. I defer to fact checkers on the date. Interesting that there's a '58, '59 and '60 Chevy in the hole. 'Three of a kind'.
  6. Cadillac didn't have a 'diesel scandal' circa '78-82. What they had was a non-turbo diesel with extremely low output.
  7. Another example of 'things happened earlier than one would think' ; this is the underside of a '64 Olds Starfire. I'm familiar with Buicks & Pontiacs, none of which have a centrally-located gas tank like this (and all modern vehicles) do.
  8. 'They' said the Corvair had 'European design'. Not sure what 'they' were referencing; American design was miles ahead LOT of Corvair racing went on. Corsa was a great package :
  9. The interior issue is a good portrait of the industry in general. Color choices inside & out are way down from decades ago, regardless of brand. Sad.
  10. My opinion is EVs have to be least least 25% of the market to be called 'mainstream', and I don't see that until 2050. 5% is nothing.
  11. I notice that suddenly they're "dogs". ?
  12. Hey! Just like EVs!
  13. This COVID-19 mess literally could not have come at a worse time for EVs.
  14. Everything is off-schedule. With such ultra low take rates for EVs, they're likely to be delayed even more; vehicles and new batteries. They have always been propped up by IC profits.
  15. Not mine; YOURS. Nevermnd. ?
  16. Oh; its cool alright! ? ’35 Ford HD truck chassis w/ ‘26 Lincoln V8. Family lost track of it years ago, despite it being ‘a local legend’.
  17. So you're saying : 'my appreciation is beautiful' ??
  18. Is this 'beautiful condition' or 'beautiful styling'? Asking for a friend.
  19. Wondering where you saw it- it popped up in a small FB page like 2 days ago, never saw it before so I started spreadin it around. You need to watch the HAMB ‘vintage pics of days gone by thread. Very busy, very cool images.
  20. If a long economic turn down is in the cards (and it is if we leave "long" undefined, because; we don't know), then it's already happening. Manufacturers already seeing considerable slowdowns have embraced vastly different product lines because they have the manufacturing capability and the need to try & maintain revenue streams. Alcohol Co's making sanitizer, clothes Co's making gowns, car Co's making PPE & med devices. If those enterprises keep people employed and maybe even make a few bucks, until capacity is peaking for those businesses, I don't see why they wouldn't continue to take business away from importers. Definitely for now, we'll see for how long. Also, until science solidifies whether or not this may be a mass cyclical thing, these are potential hedge bets against the next round.
  21. You ever post stuff in that thread, blu? You know I do- that's me ^ top of page 488.
