Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
balthazar replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Unless you were in an old Beetle. -
^ I know, I've been on the lots last year. I will very likely drop down to a 1/2-ton (provided I can get the same configuration; no one seems to like building crew cab / standard beds), but if whatever I go with is noticeably higher than my current beater, I will have to spring for a lowering kit.

Interesting & telling juxtaposition : two 3/4-ton pickups, about 16 years apart. The lengths and widths are the same, but the HEIGHTS are noticeably different. The cowl height on the F-250 is about halfway thru the 2500HD's windshield.

Cadillac News: 2021 Cadillac Escalade Leaks Out

This is nicely imposing; textbook Escalade ~ It looks from this shot that the light pipes again extend thru the outer edges of the headlights, like the previous gen. Would like to see a lit shot to know. Regardless, the lower light pipes continue the recent Cadillac look completely. Saw a Cadillac coming toward me today in the grey fog, it was over a half mile away yet those light pipes immediately ID'd it. ? -

It doesn't. No more than a ‘70 Sedan deVille looked like a ‘70 Caprice. -

All Daimler’s SUVs look familial, all of Bavarian motorworks SUVs look familial, all Land Rovers look familial... yet people somehow are surprised that General Motors SUVs look familial. ? -

• No bumper look is excellent; they don’t do anything anyway. • I like the c-pillar trim; brands have been putting brightwork around the sidelights since the ‘33 Aerodynamic Coupe concept- thats 87 years now. It always looks dreadfully cheap when a luxury vehicle can’t bother to trim and just spraypaints all the moldings. Every see a house inside where all the trim & doors are the same color as the walls? Spray bomb rental look. The trim here kinda approximates a sedan in profile; it disrupts the bulk of the SUV profile. Plus the detailing is a welcome return from Cadillac. -

A lot more than you can get with the “luxury” tesla model 3! -

I don’t care for the Sport / blacked out grille, but the bright grillwork version looks pretty slick. I think this is yet another move forward for the Escalade, and it's biggest step up vs. any prior generational change. Interesting that people who thought the unofficial renders were too like the Tahoe or Yukon are now harping on the unique touches that distinguish the Big E. That said, I’ve never really been bonkers over the Escalade. I think Cadillac has done a tremendous job on this one from what I’ve seen, but it’s not a vehicle class that appeals to me. -

Only German car I’d consider would be Porsche. Maybe Messerschmidt. But nothing British, and definitely nothing from Japan, so I’m out.

I like the concept of these; most of my 'personal objection' to motorcycles is they have little in the way of styling, but that said these kinda come off as too gaudy. Maybe if they were more sedate in color.

Saw a circa ‘76 Chevelle wagon, all white, at the tire store. Very clean.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM

So is there a consensus forming yet that a motoring public at large —known to have mediocre driving skills, are commonly heavily distracted and are in desperate need of autonomous vehicles to take over for them.... that putting that huge pool of drivers in vehicles that can do 0-60 in 3 secs is INCREDIBLY stupid? Or will we have to chart a sharp rise in fatalities before EVs are restricted to much more mundane performance to better match the skill set at large? ?? -
The rest of the segment was no better.

Incorrect. One poll showed 55% of Americans are invested, and no question there are a lot who are unaware they are also invested. Between individual accounts, pensions and 401Ks, the majority of Americans have benefitted from a market that has risen from 17K to 29K, not only the ‘1%’.

Watched the game, no stake or favorite. Only football game I watch all year, and if its lame, I bail. Not a sports fan. J-Lo’s lower half is immense; I wasn’t aware just how much so. I’ve heard there are legions of fans. I’m not among them.

This should've been an EV truck. Instead, still 10 years behind the EV leader, it was a cheap rebadge of a dying brand. Pathetic.
