Fresh off the news that mercedes had to up their near-future employee firings by 50% by the year 2022 (from 10,000 to 15,000 employees)... Daimler announced today their US truck [ class 8 ] orders fell 51% in 2019, with a 20% decline in Q4 2019 alone. Overall, Daimler AG's 2019 sales were flat vs. 2018. Revenue edged up 3%, but profits plummeted from 7.6 billion in '18 to 2.7 billion in '19. Daimler cited increased expenses relating to the diesel emissions cheating scandal settlement and restructuring costs as contributing factors.

Cadillac News: The Unclear Future of the Blackwing V8
balthazar replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
mercedes had a full dozen different models over a long span of years running superchargers. But then again- mercedes isn't exactly in the whos-who of engine builders. -
Frankly; 5K a month is better than I would’ve guessed; Jeep should take it and run. Can’t even put a 10-spd bike in the bed.

I read elsewhere that a hi-po Escalade is definitely coming, so the BW seems a strong possibility there. -

Seems like a conflict of interest there. Not to mention; putting notoriously staged 'reality TV' hosts up as credible pitchmen can become problematic. -

^ Put that back in the oven, it's still raw! ? - - - - - Seriously, we've all read the adage 'It doesn't cost anymore to make it look good' [which, of course; is complete nonsense], but the Nikola, the Workhorse and of course the Tesla Cardboard Playhouse aren't even in the ballpark of Segment Stadium. -

I believe on average, one has far more chance of bodily harm from other human animals, than from animals. IOW; tho the woods at night might be scary; the trees aren't going to thump you on the skull and steal your cell and your wallet.

This showed up at my buddy's shop over the weekend, has a tired Chevver 350, looking for a big block / manual upgrade. Not sure if that's going to be Pontiac or Chevy-power. No it's not; it's a LeMans Tempest.

'38 Hudson Terraplane Utility Coupe. Bed slides in & out; when stowed a typical decklid closes over it. A modern interpretation of this concept would be very interesting (if even possible).

Yep I did. Make the grille texture finer... perhaps something bright like XTS Platinum grillework, and that would be awesome. Ciel is a lot more cohesive. -
Cadillac News: 2021 Cadillac Escalade Leaks Out

I’m going to disagree on making the El Miraj as the ‘top face’ @ Cadillac; I’ve always felt it needed a bit more time in the oven. -
I don't do most of those things (symphony, museums, Thai, Indian, food delivery, high dollar restaurants); I'm low maintenance. The ideal would be to live in a rural area only 30 mins from a strong suburbia/hospital. It's definitely doable...

At the same time; having a bank, nail salon, dollar store, pizza shop & 7-eleven on every. other. corner doesn't necessarily 'feel better' or even less depressing. There are some unique folk living out in the boonies, many whom are of a preferable stripe than the Starbucks/Alexa/BMW stripe. I live in suburbia, but I prefer small town/rural, especially since there's a lot higher chance of vintage iron out there.

Yes; it certainly did look like a horror movie house. The porch screens were blackened & more translucent than transparent. No; no remodeling. Owner lives across street, uses it for storage. Hey ocnblu- up where this was (Northampton County), it seems to be a mandate that every house has at least 1 non-operational car on the property. The one to the right of the above pic had 2 '70s Dodge Rams and an '80s mercedes sedan rotting away. The house to the left had a Panther-bodies Grand Marquis. The house in the pics had an '80s Country Squire wagon on flat tires and I think a rotting volvo. I assume this is a state-wide mandate?

That’s not ‘bleak’; its reality. Can’t recall a sharper decline in such a short period in an automotive segment ever. 230K to 87K in 7 years?!? As far as CUVs being boring, so are family sedans. Trucks, at least, are interesting. SO much variety/customization.

Sedans are dying off, people don’t want them anymore. Everything that can be done basically has been, but it’s not stopping the sales slide. Sonata I believe has fallen well off it’s peak, and this effort isn’t going to move the needle the other way. EDIT :: 2011-2012 : 226-230K 2019 : 87K Malibu sold 120K in ‘19. Sonata will be ? sooner rather than later.

Styling-wise, its both random & generic. Nose looks really bulbous. 2 miles of range after a full 6 hrs of sunlight is staggeringly pointless. So is the smaht pahk feature. Feels like hyundai is going down a rabbit hole of irrevelence.

Everything I just read online says no, but; was up in very rural Northampton County Pennsylvania today, some very hilly & wooded area. Across the road myself & 2 others with me heard what videos completely confirmed in our opinions - a couple of coyotes mixing it up with a wolf. They were quite close by. Like I said, state & official websites state wolves haven't been in the northeast in the wild in around 100 years. Coyotes aplenty; yes, but their cries are nothing alike. Chilling sound...
