Exactly... The pending Skylark issue may have changed things up a bit, but I currently don't see $3 Billion.

It looks more expensive than what it is (more upscale and sophisticated than the current Malibu or Impala... even more so than the current LaCrosse.) The interior design and quality should be one of Chevrolet's recent best. It has the 3.6l V6 available (no OHV) along with a Hybrid model. Looks like a winner to me.

From my understanding, the turn-over rate in a dealership is outstanding... very little loyalty outside of owner & relatives. Management, administration, sales, etc all have high turnover. I understand that a certain amount of jobs are leaving the area, but most of the people holding them were just waiting for something better to come along anyways. I've known several people who have worked for dealerships, and the impression is all the dealerships in an area "know" each other and feed off each other for employees (regardless of manufacturer/brands sold.) It seems to me that you'll have fresh blood coming your way in an interview near you (unless they've already worked for you in the past.)

I thought that was a good thing? I'm personally happy to hear three GM dealers are closing in your area. GM has too many dealers. Three dealers closing should help you meet sales targets. That should lower cross-shopping and price comparisons between GM dealers which means you'll be able to offer lower incentives. This means more profit for you to keep your dealership fresh and offer perks.

Hmmm... All I read is that a vehicle and funds earmarked for a Buick vehicle were diverted to other non-Buick related programs. What happened to Buick's $3-Billion dollar promise... oh, how long ago was it... 3+ years ago???? .

O.C... and as the Fortwo pingpongs into the next lane - on its side - in front of more traffic - and gets hit - only to pingpong into another lane - upside down - in front of more traffic - and gets hit - .............. I actually think this is a good idea... Since GM has divested from most of its business partners, this section would help quell the perception that Daewoo is still Daewoo when it isn't.

There's only one competing Korean manufacturer - Hyundai (which owns Kia.) Hyundai already has its own forum under Asian Marques. There's Ssangyong, but I believe it's Chinese owned.

It depends actually. GM must have a strong mainstream and near-luxury product line for Cadillac to focus on the true-luxury/ultra-luxury market. Buick is attempting to capture the near-luxury market for GM. If Buick is successful, Buick will overlap (in market only) with some current Cadillac products. If Buick is successful, Cadillac will be free to continue moving higher as a true luxury brand. This is what will make $80k-$150k+ ultra-luxury Cadillacs possible. This does not mean Cadillac needs to abandon the near-luxury market. BLS, CTS, BRX, & SRX all have their place. The near-luxury market is large enough and with enough diversified tastes for GM to provide two successful flavors of near luxury vehicles. Right now, Cadillac's near luxury vehicles are some-what compromised. They're trying to cover too much market and come across kind-of watered down. Buick's focus on one side of the market will allow Cadillac to refine its focus on the next generation of vehicles. The new 2008 CTS is a good example of Cadillac focusing more closely on what its market is. Brash, flash, edgy, attention grabbing, and technologically advanced.

I really want them to keep the Park Avenue name in China and have the name return to the US. Skylark, Regal, Park Avenue, & Riviera. Perfect Line-up to me Oh, and of course, Enclave too!

It's okay for GM to import vehicles from Australia, Korea, Germany, Sweden, etc... but it's not okay for GM to import a vehicle from China? Get your checklist out, because GM won't be the only one in a few years. I personally welcome this.
