  1. I wish the rims were a little more classy. The car itself seems great and I'm sure the Type-S would look mean in black or other colors. Glad the TL-S is back though, I do love the gauges on the Type S, the metallic finish look is great.
  2. I like the new Si's, very precise handling for a car with its drivetrain and price. I'd take a coupe, not a fan of the sedan's proportions and I prefer the coupe's rear also. Although if I needed the space, it's good to know I've got the practical option standing by.
  3. I'm a little underwhelmed by the car. It looks great no doubt, but it looks more MMC than FMC, seems like they decided to baby step their way forward on the evolution chart. Still though, the G35 is nothing to sneeze at but the interior still looks slightly downmarket from competitors like Acura and Lexus. I think maybe even the new CTS interior might look better than the G35's. The gauges in the dash cluster should've stayed amber as the new ones are too similar to Acura's offerings which use blue/white combo throughout their cars.
  4. Just curious, are you going to bring that up everytime the word ACURA shows up? MDX is a looker, although I think the car works better in darker colors. That way, the grille's brightness isn't overkill when paired with something such as silver. I think in person the wood will be more attractive than in pictures, a person can see more detail up close and personal.
  5. *points to distinctive as the main reason RL is not selling well* It's a decent car, it just totally went the wrong way in styling. The TSX and TL(which look great) don't look related to its barely larger sibling the RL at all, where did the Acura look for the RL go?
  6. The seats look awesome to sit in. Otherwise I'd agree that from a styling standpoint, the LS is nothing special to look at. It's a big Lexus sedan that barely stands out styling wise against it's own sibling the ES. However, it IS a technological tour de force which is pretty impressive. I mean 11 airbags...where the heck are all those things? Maybe one of them is in the cupholder...
  7. Well those are my feelings on the matter...guess you saved me some work.
  8. I like the Impala for what it is. A nice big FWD sedan ready to swallow cargo and leave occupants with a good amount of stretching room. The LS that he reviewed is pretty basic as I've also sat in it. If you need a no frills, point A to point B basic transportation, the Impala LS is it. Although you could compare it to a 300C, FWD does take precedence in some states. For me the Impala would be one of my top choices for a big FWD and inexpensive car. The four-speed auto is fine with me, the Impala achieves good gas mileage with the 3.5l V6/4spd tranny combo and granted a 5 or 6 speed would most likely pump out better MPG, but the powertrain is reliable and I value reliability over bragging rights. GM is slowly incorporating 6spd transmissions on their newer cars like the Saturn Aura which I'm sure you are aware of. I'm just waiting for the reliability records to be proven before I make a jump into newly designed transmissions. I've had enough fun bringing my 02 Accord in for 3 new trannys. None of them had ever broken or left me stranded but they all made weird whining noises or would shift into gear harshly and the dealership agreed that my car would need new ones. I still love the car though as I think its a sleek coupe for the money but now you can see why I prefer time tested powertrains over new ones. In the end however, regular customers will look at the sticker on a car, see how many cyl the engine has, glance at the MPG numbers, and not give a second look at whether the transmission is a 4, 5, or 6 speed, as long as its good they'll buy it.
  9. Congrats to the Solstice GXP. It's the one I'd pick out of the three anyways. I've never been a fan of the 350Z roadster. I think when it's got the top down it looks disproportional. Z4 isn't my style and I tend to not see the reason of paying so much for a BMW. Glad to hear the good news for Pontiac and GM. The Solstice and the G6 are bringing Pontiac back from the edge of the abyss, keep doing what you're doing guys. If it was the Solstice GXP vs. the S2000, that would be a much more difficult decision for me. The S2000 has been one of my dream cars since it's release back in 1999. It would come down to do I want a car more focused on track prowless or one with a healthy dose of power. Hm...can't both just tie in a comparo so I can be happy?
  10. Part 1 Part 2 (meat of the program) Best Motoring International is a major car enthusiast show/magazine in Japan and the drivers for the show are/were professional drivers with loads of racing experience. They test the Solstice vs the Miata and no matter what nationality the car is, they base the winner on how it performs and today the Solstice wins. I like how they give the explanations for their decisions so it doesn't make them baseless fodder for their viewers. It's interesting to see American cars from another country's POV and moreso by drivers who know what they're talking about. That's why I like to watch Top Gear and BMI as I don't mind the country bashing, any show anywhere in the world uses comedy in some form. When American cars start gaining praise in other countries, you know the carmakers are doing something right. Way to go GM, hail the Solstice
  11. If GM released a car with that interior, I for one would love to own it because I like the design. If you feel that way about the car that's fine, but making assumptions about how the press might feel if it was made by the General doesn't help as you never know what could happen. Think positive!I'd like to see an MDX w/o nav just to compare how many less buttons there would be. Also remember that luxury cars pack in more technogoodies than average cars so don't use normal vehicles as a basis for judgement. It does look a bit daunting but I haven't sat in the car, so I can't be sure. The only thing is I can't afford an MDX anyways, or an Enclave which I also like. Ah well, patience and hardwork will pay off...eventually
  12. That interior is just plain stunning. I'm not going to even complain about the steering wheel, why? Because I'm glad Acura is getting riskier with its product, even if it's to some small degree. I'm very glad the interior came out that way, after the slightly disappointing RDX interior(kinda too much plastic) I was getting worried. That exterior is also beautiful, a little inoccuous but I love it. The grille doesn't bother me because I've been expecting it since the concept was unveiled with it. The last thing I wanted was for the MDX to blend in and with that grille it carries more of an Acura corporate look to it. Good job so far Acura, waiting for it to be on the official site so I can check it out futher
  13. Well they convey more class and luxury than the 'breakthrough' ads so I welcome that. I liked both, specifically the very end of 'Crest' with the emblem rising up and the cursive Cadillac appearing. I guess it's been awhlie since I've seen a Cadillac ad being associated with luxury like that.
  14. metallic trim > wood trim, but I still like both trims. I just can't get over the bug eyed look at the front.
  15. edmunds story Edmunds has another story up on the updated Aveo. It's good to see GM not ignoring the growing market of small cars and I am pretty surprised how low the price is considering the interior looks great for a car in its class. I priced one up and still came under 15k for what i wanted. The Honda Fit is also a cool car I would consider buying in this segment. Those magic seats are wonderful.
