  1. I really like the new design. Its funny that all my friends stated they would never consider one when I was telling them they look less feminine and much more masculine, but now that many of them have seen them on the road they agree.
  2. Great ad...can't believe they are getting so bent out of shape...its all in good fun.
  3. The car is ugly, it hurts to see it go into production and I hope its heavily reworked before it hits the streets. It is as if Kia took 1 part GT by Citreon styling and butchered it, added 2 parts Brach's Jelly beans + 1 part huge step backwards for Kias current design language. I don't know how Kias parent company Hyundai could sign off on this after building such beautiful and original designs recently under both the Hyundai and Kia brand...I know the same designer of the current Kia line of cars is responsible for spearheading this concept but its awful.

I really didn't like the design of this vehicle originally...but as I see it in more pictures and from different angles it is starting to grow on me...but it is probably the first generation of GS to even cause me to have any doubt in the model. It looks good but it just seemed like something was wrong, now its looking better and I guess it was just me.
  5. This is a good thing...the WRX really doesn't need the 2.5L engine...the STi doesn't either especially if that will help us see an 8k RPM redline in the US. I like the fact that the STi has a 2.5L for the extra torque but I really wish it had a higher redline.

If the Scion model is going to start off near 20k than that in all honesty is what the Subaru is worth without the extras that add the extra cost to the vehicle...the Limited packages seems a little expensive for what you get though, I think the lower price of the Scion will be the vehicles main selling point and may unfortunately hurt the Subaru...however the Subaru will probably retain its value better and that alone and the fact that Subaru for the most part designed the vehicle would make me shop Subaru.
  7. I understand what SoCalCTS is saying. If the system is designed to prevent accidents and can calculate a drivers intention or likeliness to run the light within milliseconds then it could easily be designed to have a delayed yellow light. Most people don't run red lights which would suggest that you would rarely have an instance where multiple cars are causing a lengthy delay in the operation of the light if ever. After the offender has caused the delay the light should turn red once they have cleared the intersection which I am sure the system could calculate as well by their speed. A system with this kind of complexity would probably be expensive and I think because of this it would be natural to integrate some form of traffic monitoring system (red light camera/speed camera combination maybe?) that could issue offenders tickets as a normal red light traffic camera would.
  8. I am very disappointed that this Volt stuff is getting so out of hand. No one should be worried about their vehicle catching fire unless the fuel system (battery) is compromised in an accident which is pretty much an issue with any modern gasoline vehicle. Also the damage so far that has caused the battery to be damaged would in most cases total the vehicle anyway. Yes, this is an issue that GM should address. However is isn't a reason to abandon the vehicle. Once the flaw is fixed all flawed vehicles should be fitted with the redesigned battery.

I loved the Neon SRT4 and although the Caliber SRT4 didn't make the splash Chrysler expected I love hatches and wagons...so I am hoping Dodge revives the Neon name and it returns as a 5-door like the Caliber but the way it should have been done the first time around...Chrysler had a great platform for the Caliber but still fumbled the ball, I know it was partially Diamlers fault so here is hoping Fiat and Chrysler will do right by us this time!
  10. Unfortunately it probably won't be reversed. It was a move done by Fiat for multiple reasons but the biggest is this. If Dodge and Dodge trucks now 'Ram' could both stand and on their own feet, this gives Fiat the ability to sell the Dodge or Ram brand more easily in the future. Remember when Dodge was attempting to sell the Viper brand on its own? I don't think anyone jumped from there seats to purchase the brand because there would never be too many takers for a brand thats primarily sold because of the brand that it falls under. Especially in the case of the Viper that sells in very small numbers to for the most part Gearheads with deep pockets. You sell the 'Ram" brand to lets say Kia and Kia now has to slap their name on the brand or come up with a brand name that no one is familiar with and would easily give away the fact that Ram is no longer owned by Chrysler/Fiat, sales would sink like the Titanic, only faster. The Ram truck brand is very valuable and I think it was just Fiats way of creating more assets in the event they could not turn around Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep and now Ram they would still have a fall back plan when it comes to making money.
  11. It is true. Dodge is going away from the crosshair grill, the article I read pretty much described the new grill as a knee jerk reaction to the seperation of Dodge and Ram brand and the removal of the Ram logo. It is merely a temporary fix, I thought it was fine.
  12. I dunno if Chrysler is attempting to spare the Sebring nameplate or ruin the 200 nameplate. This car is just not going to cut it...the 200 was an awesome concept and I know concepts aren't always realized, but seeing as it was a vehicle that could be built why tarnish the name on a vehicle like this. Maybe it will look better in person but from these angles it just looks boring. It looks like something Hyundai would have put out if they never got a clue.
  13. Awesome article...I've been really pissed at the way people have reacted to this mews. Just as this article states there isn't a vehicle on the road like the Volt and the Volt should not be compared to the current hybrids on the market...if other manufacturers adopt similar technology and want to call the cars hybrids, whatever, but it is pretty obvious that the two aren't the same and I hate to say that it just seems like everyone takes a stab at GM first chance they get...Toyota can be found to have covered up all kinds of illegal activity surrounding their vehicles and yet the problems about GM echo in nearly every article you read regardless of the product being reviewed being an outstanding product.

Anything with a lot of power going through the front wheels has the potential for torque steer no matter what kind of engine it has, however I will admit that some of these turbo fours aren't showing the kind of fuel economy improvements people are lead to believe they would bring because when you get on the gas...fuel economy estimates go out the window.
  15. I was a little bothered when information from GM was initially leaked about bringing back the Regal. Having owned a 98 GS and loved the car I want to see something that deserves the Regal name. My reasoning was that the 2010 LaCrosse is what the Regal should have evolved into IMO and word from GM during early talks of the cars revival was that it would be limited to a choice of 4 cylinder engines exclusively. I have a problem with that because it would be like creating a modern day Century and slapping Regal badges on it. If GM were to put a high powered turbo 4 cylinder engine in the vehicle then I wouldn't be bothered as much, but I don't think a power plant with less than 200hp should be offered in either this new Regal or the LaCrosse. GM is already planning to add a 4 cylinder as an option on the LaCrosse for fuel economy reasons but it seems like a bad choice IMO at around 175hp, that is a lot of car to move for the 3.0L and 3.6L already and I don't know if the reduced weight of the four will make a big enough difference. If GM decided to go with a 4 cylinder engine making something around 250hp and that was the only engine offered...similar to the way Audi has done with the A4 except obviously with more power than the A4, again I don't think that would be a problem but it still wouldn't be a Regal...the idea is also doable since the LNF could easily bring that kind of power to the table. Anyway finding out GM is not only considering offering the vehicle with a 3.6L engine but also bring back the GS model by way of the Insignia OPC...I can't wait to see what GM has in store for the new Regal and the Buick brand...this is the direction the brand should have been going in a long time ago lets just set those four cylinder engines aside for now though.

  17. I know this isn't exactly the answer you are looking for but it isn't easy all the time, or hardly any of the time for me anyway. I don't do this for a living so when I stop chopping I am constantly forgetting and relearning different techniques. Usually a lot of blending is involved in a process like this, it also depends on what application you are using...sometimes copying an entire section of a vehicle (more than you actually want) and relocating it where you would like it to be is a good start. At that point you'll have to manipulate and blend the area into its new location by deleting what you don't need and using various tools of whatever application you are using until you are satisfied with what is in front of you. Sometimes you have to create some things from scratch...you'll always want it to look better though, which can be frustrating, but just comes with the hobby and makes it more fun. Searching the internet for tips is also a good idea. The picture I provided above was originally a Saab TurboX sedan. It has had the wheelbase lengthened so that the front overhang is shorter. I basically copied more than I needed around the front wheel and surrounding area, moved it forward and went from there including manipulating the shadow until it looked natural. The hatch is just a stretched piece of body work from the original picture and the curvature of the hatch was done using the Pen Tool in Photoshop and deleting the excess body work that was copied and blended behind it. Wheels were just taken from a BMW concept vehicle, resized and color edited to fit more in line with the picture. Again blending took place and you use whatever works best to make it fit, whether that means using the Clone Tool, lowering the opacity of the Eraser Tool and blending it by hand or using the Brush Tool. Your imagination will be your limit, there are many ways to get the job done and get better results.
