Honda Accord update called Outstanding
To this day, I don't understand what's wrong with black plastic. Cheap plastic, misplaced plastic, and Walmart-special colored plastic.. by all means, are much worse. Besides, how many vehicles don't have it without still looking cheap? Certainly not the Malibu with its spray painted radio.

Pontiac's Death Blow????
I'd believe it if it made any ounce of sense... Almost as idiotic as Chrysler's supposed brand structuring.

A mission for all of C&G
Well... I'd have to find a suitable cliff, first. So it's not entirely secured.

Hypothetically Speaking...
I'm quite aware of that... but, I'm not taking any chances. Anything with more than 120k is out of consideration. As well as anything older than 1992. I'd prefer to keep it under 100k and no older than 1995, but as you said, it's nots always easy to find to low mileage vehicles. High mileage, no matter how you spin it, equates to the vehicle being driven more. In most cases, you're not going to know it's history. Anyone can lie about how a vehicle was driven. Anything with major components replaced is a major red flag to me, as well. In most cases, no vehicle should need a transmission or an engine replaced unless they were abused. Is that the sort of a vehicle I want to look for as a dead-reliable daily driver? No.

A mission for all of C&G
Not really. Unless... you're trying to say that you all love junk cars? Actually, the old hag and her husband/brother treated it well before she switched to a few Mitsubishi Eclipses. It's just old and run-down after being resorted to a lawn ornament... And as I once said, I don't think anyone expected it to last 23 years. The 80's weren't exactly a high point of vehicular reliability, by any means. Well, other than breaking down... They have a habit of doing that very reliably.

Multi-link suspensions are nice like that. I'd describe the Millenia similarly to how you described the Fusion.

Oh Beast, Wherever May You Be?
Technically, I would have to get the Millenia on the road before selling the Beast. While it may be a huge pain in my poor ol' ass, it's all I have to drive at the moment. Oh, and since everyone loved the last comment... It's not fixed and I have no choice but to drive it to work tomorrow. Hopefully it won't have much of a chance to overheat on an 8 mile drive. I can just imagine it now... Pulling into the BiLo parking lot with it leaving a trail of steam. That'll be a sight my boss will love.

A mission for all of C&G
Well... no one seemed to care when my Millenia lost its distributor, or the Sunfire's Twincam went haywire, or my old Grand Am blew itself up. Oh, but the Cutlass leaving me stranded, overheating, losing power, running poorly, and polluting poor old Brookville... SAVE IT BEFORE HE KILLS IT!!! That poor Cutlass.. running itself into the ground and I get the blame. Pfft... Such a group of bitches, I tell you.

Heh... I don't speak metric, but I do know that's entirely too much. I'm not looking for another high-mileage vehicle, regardless of reputation.

Financial Question
It's not hard to achieve 30 mpg in a car that can realistically get 30 mpg. I came close to getting that in my Millenia a few times and its not exactly the most fuel efficient vehicle out there. Course, I generally got 20-25, but that was more related to driving style than anything. I'm certainly not driving the Cutlass anywhere near as lead-footed as I did with my Millenia, either.

Oh Beast, Wherever May You Be?
I'll remember it for future purposes... if it does come to selling it.

Oh Beast, Wherever May You Be?
Guys, I'm really not trying to kill it, I'm just to the point of not caring about it. Different things. Besides... I don't think the 20 minute drive home, only half of which it was spewing steam hurt it, and it was my dad who said it would be alright to continue driving. Being made mostly of iron, a little overheating isn't going to warp anything major, like with my Grand Am. As I said, I think the cause of it on the way home was from the hose where the thermostat sits being held by only one bolt. If it did overheat, it wasn't driven long. 103k. One owner car, sat for about 2 years before my Dad and I came along. Nice to see you've come out of hiding. Truly surprised me to see you post. Welcome back and thanks. --------------------------- As for offers... I may not care much about it, but I still know what a car is worth. In new parts alone, it's worth more than $300. Course, it's not mine to sell, either way.

Oh Beast, Wherever May You Be?
I stopped caring about this car the moment it left me stranded... And it's certainly not for a petty reason like a flat tire.

Honda Accord update called Outstanding
I know I'm one of the few who likes the new Accord, but I must dispute the claim that its the best handling. I'd say things have changed with it growing in size. The Accord definitely has the best interior in its class, though, and I've now seen the Malibu's in person. I'd say there's no contest there unless you're blind and refusing to actually sit and compare. The Accord's interior feels more expensive than it really is.

Oh Beast, Wherever May You Be?
Well... We figured a way to get it home: Drive it anyways. Before doing so, we attempted to try a few things like a new thermostat and a new radiator cap. All while its sleeting and the car is sitting in a Sheetz parking lot. In removing the bolts to get at the thermastat, one breaks. Replaced it, hoped the glue would hold to get it home. Refilled it with coolant for the second time. Jump started it, since the Alternator issues have been impossible to diagnose and fix. Went on my way while my dad went to get a water pump since it wasn't as expensive as he thought. Turns out, the new thermostat isn't working, probably due to the hose that holds it is only being held on with one bolt. I keep on driving, having not realized this at the time, while I continue to freeze. As I'm looking in my rear view mirror, I can't help but think there's more than just road spray coming from the back, as I'm leaving a trail thats about 1/4 of a mile long. Call my dad, tell him, he figures I should just keep on driving anyways as its probably spewing coolant for reasons other than overheating... or both. Oh well, I'm not about to stop and freeze my ass off waiting for him anyways. I get home, steam billowing from underneath the hood. Coolant is literally everywhere, with puddles of it collecting in dips of the engine. Atleast its home. Now.. who wants to come to my Beastworks showing? It involves one Beast, packed full of explosives, and one rather large cliff. It's going to be spectacular!

Be careful out there, friends
This should have happened to a more deserving vehicle... Good luck in getting it fixed, Ocn. It really sucks that it had to happen to you and your nice new Sierra.

Speaking of the Aztek...
Who wants to drive something that blinds you? I will never deny the truly awesome utility it had, but I could never own one for the sheer fact that it looks grotesque. Looks matter in the realm of vehicles.
-
Hypothetically Speaking...
Hmm, I'm not sure. But, yes, I'm on my parent's insurance plan.

Oh Beast, Wherever May You Be?
Me too... We need one.

Um...Aztek?
Was MDM allowed to do something with an actual vehicle?

Camino, I'd love to own any of those, but I have a feeling that those auctions will close above my price limit. I rarely see '98-'02 Firebirds going for less than $5k or $6k. *Edit* Perhaps not. I did find this one on Autotrader... and it's one of my favorite shades of blue. Clicky

Oh Beast, Wherever May You Be?
Remind me to never get another 23 year old car as a daily driver. That was a stupid choice, no doubt. I wonder how we're going to get it home. It can't see to go very far without overheating and I'm not paying for a tow truck, I doubt my Dad will either. Then again, worrying about what I'll drive to work might be more worthwhile. Diagnosing and fixing this issue probably isn't going to happen before Monday, especially seeing as how all our attempts to fix the other issues were unsuccessful. Is a reliable car really too much to ask for in life?
-
There's a special feel...
Nice car. Always liked Intrigues.

Hypothetically Speaking...
Well, I'll be glad to have anything that's atleast on par with my Millenia, reliability wise. One or two minor issues a year is much better than 4 or 5 issues in a single month. True. I'd drive either three. $3-$6k, ideally. My uses will mostly be limited to driving alone, to and from work, relatives, school in the future, etc. Size isn't entirely on my mind. The Cutlass and Millenia are about as big as I would own, though. I dont really need a much size. I'm only 5'6", I drive alone 99% of the time, and rarely use the trunk or back seat of a car. The smallest of vehicles will work for me, but I'm not necessarilly only considering smaller cars. The Miata is just one car I have on my mind. I don't quite have my heart set on it any more than I had my heart set on a 240SX or BMW 3er or any other car I've had random moments of lust for. You know... As long as it was a 2003+ with the Ecotec, it'd beat the hell out of the Cutlass.
