  1. That was my point. $3 billion (2 for Fiat, and 1 for Olds) was lost that could have been used in R&D. A lot more GM divisions could be looking like Saturn today if that money was used on GM's core brands (and maybe Saab) to improve them rather than wasting it like they did.
  2. You seem to have a grudge against Saturn..? Well, all I was saying was that Saturn and Olds (if it existed) are escentially the same thing: a division of GM. A division that spits out near-luxury cars that are budding heads with Buick, a division that doesn't have a place in the so called Gm ladder. With the euro Saturns, I think Saturn has earned the right to live, however, I think that division should've been Olds. The Euro cars do fit with the Different Kind of Car Company since european cars are unique in the NA market but I think Saturn should have been slotted below Chevy. So at this point, Saturn would be getting all three of those Chevy minicar concepts instead of Opels and Olds would be getting Astas, Vectracs, and Signums. We would have the Oldsmobile Aurora rather than the Saturn Aura.
  3. Eh typical Japanese car. They all try to look aggressive but, in my opinion, they just end up looking like they were all designed by the same person who could only draw one car. But in the USA, bland isn't bad. I mean there is alot worse than bland. Chevy needs all the bland, appeal to the masses, good interior, safe deseign, good built quality, ect. cars it can get. We won't be crazy about them, but we are enthusiats -- the speciality brands (like Pontiac once they fix it) is what we're gonna like. Who hear drives an Impala? I mean a regular one, not 1960s or 1996 customized, i mean a regular old 05 impala or something.. uhh..back to this topic. New accord is stiff competition for camry. This will kill the Solora (if it isn't already dead. I haven't seen one of those things in a while)
  4. Yea, except I wish they were called Opels. I love the new saturns, but for some reason the name 'Saturn' sounds like something that shouldn't be the name of a car marquee. Just don't name cars after planets. It's funny that the only two marques, Saturn and Mercury, are both going to become all Euro. I still don't understand why discontinue Oldsmobile and move Saturn upmarket to its place. Saturn should've been a marque of small cars like the recently debuted Chevy Trax, Beat, and Groove that would kill Scion with hip design and lots of stuff for the money. I don't know if I'd ever buy a Euro near-luxury called a Saturn Aura. I mean, I love the car, but I would wait for the new Malibu. Oldsmobile on the other hand would be better in my opinion for these Euro cars. OLDsmobile, OLD world....just kidding But I'd still like to hear someone explain to me why Olds had to go only to have Saturn take its place with the kinds of cars, which I thought, Oldsmobile should have always had.
  5. I KNOW!! After the first time I saw it, that's all I notice about this car. But my first impressions were that this is a VERY nice xover nonetheless.
  6. Matrix you mean. Im pretty sure this is Toyota's shot at the Mazda 3
  7. WOW Much better (thankfully) than the Daewoo. I can't think of anything bad to say except that I'm not liking the chrome strip too much..the back should just have..LED taillights or..something.? I'm not sure.
  8. Yup. That's probably what the people who didn't buy maybachs were thinking. 'I can have 3 hummer H1s AND!! a pontiac aztek. Or 12 Grand Ams and 11 LeSabres and of course another Aztec' Its a no brainer
  9. Speaking of the current Impala.....perhaps, in the spirit of rebadging Daewoo's as Chevys, a copy of this will be the NG Impala.
  10. I am pretty sure it will become a Buick. Either the NG Lucerne, or a new model that slots above the Lucerne. Or, it can very well become the Chinese Park Avenue we just heard about.
  11. No story, just some pictures, but I think they speak for themselves. It's obvious that it's another Holden Commodore-based car... for Daewoo? More at: http://www.netcarshow.com/daewoo/2007-l4x/
  12. I was just going to post this..... But anyway, this is good for GM and DaimlerBenz, bad for Chrysler.
  13. Exactly what I expected it to look like after seeing the Spy shots. Not bad at all. Far better than the Nitro (think fender flares). Interior isn't horrible. Shifter should be closer to the driver as opposed to how it is shown
  14. I hate it when there are dancers like this around the cars Reminds me of the Kia Rondo introduction...lol
  15. That's good for Gm and Ford...both american companies :] What about the Infinities? I was expected people to be interested in them
  16. I like the skylights/sunroofs or whatever and the interior Seems to have just as much versatility as a minivan and I would certainly take it over previous Ford 'minivan' not a huge fan of the exterior tho
  17. Eh, whatever. Like others have mentioned, there is much better offerings out there (namely the Escalade and the other GM full-size trucks)
  18. YES!! The Trax, being the first one we saw, was actually the "worst" of the 3. They are all incredible and well thought out just like the Camaro concept. Hands down the Groove is my favorite. They definetely should, 100% go into production. ALL THREE OF THEM. Groove as a Chevy, Beat as Pontiac, and Trax (if it goes into production) as a Saturn. This would be the perfect example of how to build totally different cars on the same platform (aren't all 3 of these on the same platform?)
  19. Nice, but you didn't get me. When I finished reading the first paragraph, I just scrolled down and saw "April Fools" and I was like "of course..."
  20. I was expecting it to be called the Nomad. Not that I believe it could possibly look or be named like the chop. That would not be good.
  21. Hey, at least I didn't immediatly blame Toyota for the world's problems.
  22. Doesn't Toyota have a controlling stake in Subaru??
  23. This is why unions don't work. Everyone is concerned with their own thing...unions want ridiculous wages and benefits and automakers want exactly the opposite so they can cut costs. If the UAW doesn't realize that they need to reduce benefits and COMPROMISE, there is gonna be some blood shed September.
