  1. Just read that article about VW losing so much money in the US..and possibly leaving the US market. If they brought over cars like this(which they said they won't) maybe they won't lose a billion $ every year.
  2. As much as I hate toy, you have to admit that they have some of the best marketing, they take advantage of anything positive regardless if its real or perceived. And America eats it all up. On an upside, I see WAYYY more new Sierra/Silverados here in Arizona than Tundras. The only people that drive the tundra are your stereotypical ignorant, gullible, and just f@#kin clueless people that have never gotten their hands dirty. Also, never seen a Tundra with stickers and graphics and all used for a business
  3. Wow that seems like a pretty sharp reduction. I would've eased fleet sales little by little every month for two or three years until they get down to a desirable level. They better be dumping their 06 (or perhaps 05!) crappy/uncompetitive cars into fleets. For example, dump IONs and old VUEs to fleets but don't sell any, not even one, Aura or 08+ Vue to fleet. Dump uncompetive Pontiacs into fleets (which is pretty much all Pontiacs) along with the rest of the G-body cars. It makes sense from a turn-around plan perspective, but at the end of the year, it will be kinda sad if GM officially loses its #1 crown because of a lack of fleet sales..although on an upside Chrysler needs these sales MUCH more than GM.
  4. It's fine - I am I would never want to be seen in one, but it satisfies the niche it was made for. It will sell, won't beat Peugeot/Citroen/Renault and all the other french cars but together with Opel, GM will have a decent part of the city car market with this thing
  5. I absolutely love the front end design. The back..I would change a few things, but its still a great car nevertheless... I think this will keep the 9-3 selling strong for Saab until the complete redesign comes.
  6. The VUE is my least favorite of the new Saturns - I don't know why, I think its the side profile - but I would still buy it over a RAV4
  7. Unmistakingly Asian. Unmistakingly boring.
  8. It could be a four door coupe type vehicle (think Benz CLS) Possibly the next Impala or perhaps a new MONTE CARLO??
  9. I just pray that our auto industry isn't overtaken by the Japanese like our electorics (TVs, cameras) industry. I mean, can you name one global american electronics company? Sony, Toshiba, even the ones that sound kinda American like Alpine are all Japanese.
  10. Awesome. Keep em coming (new features for Buick).
  11. GM unveils new Chevy Volt concept In Shanghai Friday, General Motors unveiled its second Volt concept car. Showing the versitility of GM's E-Flex fuel system, this Volt concept is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell instead of a gasoline motor. The car is capable of traveling about 300 miles of combined fuel cell and battery driving, producing no emissions, GM claims. This version of the Volt features a battery pack that is about half the size of the one shown in the gasoline powered Volt. The fifth generation of GM's hybrid system is also have the size of the one featured in its predecessor, the Chevy Sequel but still offers the same performance and range as its predecessor. The E-Flex system was first unveiled at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show and was equipped as a gasoline powered serial hybrid which would have been capable of obtaining gas mileage of more than 150 miles per gallon. http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrolet-volt...t-hydrogen.html
  12. I suppose the Maxx was useful but still nothing most people would buy. I dare say I'd an import before buying it (well I exagerrated a bit, I'd probably buy a Fusion if I wanted a midsize sedan or of course the Aura). The car just pissed me off. It was so uncompetitive, every time I saw one I just thought to myself how GM needed to really get its act together and take a leadership role when it comes to its cars. And..........then came the Malibu SS.
  13. silverado classic is fine but malibu classic??? Is GM emotinally attached to one of its biggest f*ck ups? Malibu classic better be fleet only.
  14. Thanks 98 It looks much better (especially the front with the lights on) in the high res pics. Im gonna add them to the original post
  15. BMW CS Concept revealed (New 8-Series?) BMW has taken the wraps off the CS Concept — a new "four-door-coupe" designed to tackle the Mercedes CLS, Porsche Panamera, and Maserati Quattroporte. The car is likely a preview of the recently rumored 8-Series revival, or alternatively a four-door 6-Series. Either way, it points to BMW's future design direction for the company as a whole. The debut of the CS Concept follows a report by German car magazine Auto Zeitung that claimed BMW would launch a four-door coupe using the 8-Series designation, starting with a new 850i. In June 2006, Germany's Auto Bild ran a cover story on BMW's planned rival to the Mercedes CLS. The magazine claimed the vehicle was the next-generation 6-series, which it says will be offered in two- and four-door variants under the same nameplate. The car's dimensions add fuel to the 8-Series argument. The CS is 200.8 inches long and 78 inches wide — compared to the 7-Series sedan's 198.4 inches of length and 74.9-inch width. The CS is also extremely low — just 53.5 inches high compared to the 7-Series' 58.7 inches. The CS is even shorter than the low slung Mercedes CLS, which is 54.7 inches tall. Looks a longer Z8 from this pic..with a stretched out grille. More pics: http://www.leftlanenews.com/bmw-cs-concept.html
  16. New spy photos show a heavily camouflaged Holden Ute breaking cover down under. The car shows many of the tell tale signs of being based off of the new Zeta platform, including a similar proportions to the aforementioned Holden Commodore and large wheel arches. The overhauled Ute will come in time for Holden to boost its position against import 4×4 SUV's which are becoming increasingly popular in Australia. A new El Camino? Recently, there has been a great deal of speculation about the new Ute coming to America badged as a Chevrolet El Camino. Holden sources recently told Australia's CarPoint the lure of "substantial" export orders for "the Americas" have accelerated the planned launch date of the new Commodore Ute. Eleven months ago, GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz said a new El Camino could come by "putting a Chevrolet face" on a Holden Ute. Most recently, Holden chairman Denny Mooney said that there is potential for the 'Ute to come stateside in an effort to improve GM's CAFE ratings in light of potential upcoming legislation which would impose stricter fuel mileage standards in the US. Although GM has concerns over the fuel efficiency of its new Zeta-based sedans and coupes, an El Camino would surely provide better milage than a typical truck. “There is no question that it could potentially help,” Mooney told GoAuto last week. 17. The next-generation Cadillac CTS-V will have "a power level only described as unexpectedly high,” GM vice chairman Bob Lutz told Car and Driver. He described the vehicle as "flat-out incredible. I’ve never driven anything like that." Based on the 2008 Cadillac CTS sedan, the new CTS-V os expected to arrive later this year as a 2009 model. Specific details of the CTS-V's engine remain a mystery. Some sources say power will come from a 4.6-liter naturally aspirated V8, while others insist a supercharged V8 is in store for the hot CTS. Some sources even claim this car will share the "Blue Devil" Corvette's supercharged V8. C&D says the 505 hp, 7.0-liter LS7 V8 that currently powers the Corvette is a distinct possibility, considering the previous-generation CTS-V is powered by the 400 hp 6.0-liter Corvette LS2 powerplant. Recent spy photos have shown the 2009 CTS-V undergoing extensive testing at the Nürburgring track in Germany and elsewhere. Prototypes feature a new grille design and a massive lower air-intake — both sporting a sporty mesh finish in the familiar V-spec tradition. Link: http://www.leftlanenews.com/cadillac-cts-v-future.html I think Car & Driver is right, hopefully.
  18. Buick Riviera Concept Revealed Images have leaked online of the new Buick Riviera concept, which is to be revealed at the Shanghai auto show this week. Designed at the GM Pan Asia Technical Center, the car is yet another stylish Buick designed by GM's China design team. The Riviera is supposed to showcase Buick's forthcoming global design language for Buick, and the coupe will tour the world after the Shanghai show closes. Unfortunately, there aren't any major American autoshows left, leaving GM without a place to properly showcase such a concept in the US until late this year. 19. Yea, but I suggested Europe. I know another lambda in NA wouldn't make sense, but in Europe, it would be unique. The other GM divisions in Europe (Open and Vauxhall) wouldn't have it.
  20. why doesn't GM just give saab a lambda for europe like they did with the opel GT coming from the saturn sky. just take an Acadia and give it the feel and look of a Saab and there we go.
  21. I love georgia if only california did that..they'd make so much money off of applience testing. almost all priuses are there
  22. Um, no it doesn't pertain to both markets. China gets awesome flagship full-size sedan (Park Avenue), US dealers reject new Zeta-based full-size car. China gets their LaCrosse, we get ours..complete with rear that looks like it came off a Kia. We are a long way from being sure that the good Buicks from China will come here..or if they will still be 'good' when they do.
  23. I hate china They are giving Buick to china This is what the first user comment on that article says: "That concept car totally blows away my concept of Buick as being a staid grampa car." If they bring these kinds of Buicks stateside, they can turn around its perception as an old people car.
