  1. How does that have anything to do with lying about what Toyota is?
  2. I'm still reading it...wait. EDIT: Well, you recently seemed biased...you know, you WANT to love the Dodge. It's a very competitive segment as we all know, but the Avenger seems to be one of those cars that just satisfies (not even that for some people) while there is so many other cars in the segment that are absolutely near perfect. Dodge needs to have a VERY strong offering to take away Camry, Accord, and, hopefully, 2008 Malibu/Aura buyers. I don't think they have accomplished that with this car... I can say, however, that I like the Avenger better than the Sebring (styling-wise).
  3. Good news. I expect the trend to continue...can't wait for the Malibu, G8, CTS, etc. to appear in dealer lots - those kinds of cars should push that percentage up, convincing people that think GM makes bad cars realize that they make great cars.
  4. Yeah, but why is Toyota in a different category.. I mean, first the article talks about Asian carmakers and then they put Toyota in a whole new category. They're not Asian, they're 'Asian-American' my ass.
  5. Daimler-Benz: Future Takeover Target I was reading yet another article about the Chrysler sale on TCC and this is what it said: [look at the big, bold part] Teams from two different investment firms, Cerberus and Blackstone, showed up in Auburn Hills last week to take a peek at the Chrysler Group's inner workings, insiders have confirmed. Frank Stronach, Magna chairman, told the Toronto Globe and Mail that his company is looking at inside information on Chrysler after DaimlerChrysler's Dieter Zetsche put it up for sale. "Where it will go, nobody can predict,'' Stronach told the paper. "Our predicament will be we do not want to compete with our customers,'' Stronach said. Twenty-four percent of Magna's revenue comes from Chrysler but the company also is a major supplier to GM and is now trying to increase sales to Asian and Asian-American carmakers such as Toyota. There is no such thing. It's not like Toyota was born in the USA to Asian parents. DaimlerChrysler's representatives reportedly have coughed up plenty of inside information to satisfy the tire kickers, offering investment banks a close look at the inner workings of its erstwhile partner, the Mercedes-Benz Group. http://www.thecarconnection.com/Auto_News/...173.A12045.html
  6. Well, the rebates seem to have helped Avenger sales..unless they were rentals.
  7. Surprise: VW Phaeton to return to U.S. market Volkswagen intends to reintroduce its Phaeton luxury sedan to the U.S. market, according to VW of America spokesman Andreas Meurer. Mr. Meurer made the announcement during an interview with Bloomberg. Adrian Hallmark, the company's Executive Vice President, said VW expects its U.S. operations to break even in 2009. He said sales in 2007 would be flat, while the company focuses on preparing new models for 2008 and 2009. Volkswagen pulled the Phaeton from the U.S. market in late 2005 due to poor sales. It's unclear when the Phaeton will return to America. Meurer said it would be reintroduced when the next version goes on sale worldwide. It's not known if Meurer was referring to the facelifted 2008 Phaeton — revealed last week and on sale this summer — or the next-generation model due some time after 2009. http://www.leftlanenews.com/surprise-vw-ph...-us-market.html 100
  8. 1. Stop slapping portholes on all Cadillacs as if theyre buicks 2. I dont think the V badge belongs on SRXs (or Escalades, or DTSs - unless after a redesgin and then they make it run with the S63 AMG or something) 3. Don't kill the SRX!! GM is trying to fight BMW with an upcoming 3 series coupe figher - CTS coupe so why kill the SRX when you can be part of the upcoming BMW/Benz craze by making it a..sportwagen!
  9. Agreed, GM is making assumptions about the battery, but those assumption will be met or nearly met before GM builds the volt. The assumptions that the thread starter is making are on the other hand misleading since you can't know the facts about a car and a battery when neither actually exists yet. The only thing you can know is current hybrid batteries that cost $2000 but dont worry about those...Honda and Toyota easily overcome that cost thanks to weak Yen and no healthcare liabilities
  10. So where the f**k are the green groups flying down the street in their Toyota Priuses and bitching about Toyota becoming a gas guzzler?? Actually, they're not BECOMING since they HAVE BEEN for some time. You know, I bet if we took the average gas mileage (city+highway/2=avrg) of all vehicles produced by Chevy and Toyota, and then took the average of that (add average mileage of all vehicles, divide by number of vehicles) the numbers would practically be the same. It's not our fault that Jap carmakers can't make good trucks. They found success in this market selling reliable econoboxes and should go back to doing that.
  11. Here is a link to some pics of the Lada C Concept. http://www.netcarshow.com/lada/2007-c_concept/ Um...what's up with the Japanese styling. I remember the Lada's my family drove in East Eurpope and they were definately not Asia influenced.
  12. Actually when I first voted in that poll (for GM of course) 1-2 weeks ago, it showed that 89% of people thought Toyota build a better car. Now, after more than 15000 votes it is down to 69% Toy and 31% GM...I'm surprised.
  13. These are the little things that will set GM apart from the competition, beside their cars actually having some style. But being innovate should go a long way
  14. I posted this already and at least three others topics are about GM sales gains. Nevertheless, its great news and worth repearting. Of course, it would be 348-73673464368934 times better if the trend continues.
  15. I would calculate the advantage that every individual Japanese carmaker has over American carmakers and figure exactly how much of it is due to a weak YEN and how much is due to the healtcare costs/liabilities that American companies have to deal with because of fu^k^ng Unions. Then I was impose the devalued YEN advantage each Jap automaker has on EVERY CAR THEY IMPORT to level out the playing field and give that money to GM, Ford, etc. for R&D costs or to simply put on the hood of their cars to counter the effect of healthcare costs. Of course, the government would have to care enough about the US auto industry to do that. Actually, it would only be fair if this is done with all Jap imports.
  16. I wouldn't mind if it is built...it would just be our (american) Rolls or Bentley But not as a Chrysler... if you bring back the Imperiar brand then yes, built it. But starting a brand isn't something Chrysler has time or resources to do right now.
  17. That is the most horribly styled "future" car I've ever seen. I would actually drive the current Prius if i had to, so im not exposed to this in real life. God I hate where I live, every newer car I see is a Toy.
  18. Um.. the Volt doesn't technically have a battery yet. It hasn't been developed yet according to an article I read. They have a plan for it and specific goals for the battery according to an article I read...and a proper battery should be developed by 2010 (production date). Basically, a production battery isn't ready yet.
  19. woohoo - 30,000 ford - 13,000 chrysler + 2000 toyota!!!!111 yay
  20. A software flash?? That sounds bad although I agree that Chrysler is doing better than many others in the recall department.
  21. What do you guys think about this? Is it a good thing that the China are out? I mean, of course it is, but that only makes a purchase by GM more likely...
  22. Yes, but increases RETAIL sales and decreased FLEET sales and still making sales GAINS means GM is selling their cars to people, not rental car companies, and those people want to buy them (very slowly perception can be changed). I'd rather GM lose another $1 billion in 2007 and sell more cars and establish trust in their cars then just care about profit.
