There are a lot of uncivilised, unfair and uncalled-for comments in this thread. Some made by me, and some made by people who chastised me but are doing the same thing I was doing. That is a double standard and it shows bias.

Oh man, I had to race today for the first time in my Cobalt. Some kid in a tC was zipping through traffic with his fart can, passing ppl. It just so happened at the next light, I was next to him. When I stopped at the light, I hung back instead of stopping even with him. When the light turned green, I popped the clutch, squealed wheels, and caught second gear, leaving his wheezy little Toyota farting in the breeze. HA! That was fun.

I do have a problem with people questioning me over who I plan to vote for. And it HAS gotten personal, and I do NOT like it one God damned bit. "I thought you were gay, how can you vote for McCain?" "You really are repressed..." Need I go on? I do not have to answer to any one of you my reasons for voting for a certain person, and believe me, I am paying attention to this race. My mind is made up, it has been since before all this bull$h! started, and that's that. I do NOT like Barack Hussein Obama (do you have a problem with his name, Bimmer?) because he is naive, he has no experience, and he is blowing smoke up our asses with all these promises that he will NOT be able to keep. I feel he is a dangerous choice when we need a man in there who is tough on national security issues. A president cannot do a damn thing about the economy... and this Congress has shown ineptitude day after day. I fail to see how electing Obama will help us... looking across all the toughest issues we face as a nation, John McCain is the much stronger candidate. I see Oldsmoboi closed a thread here in the Lounge because someone made a disparaging remark in a joking manner about him supporting Obama. He couldn't take the heat... but instead of graciously getting out of the kitchen, he abused his power and locked the thread. THAT... is regrettable.

The "Check Engine" light only involves emissions control parts on a vehicle. There is no immediate danger to your vehicle if the light is on. A flashing CEL is something different, but the light is NOT hooked up to any internal mechanical workings of the engine.

When are we going back to the "NO POLITICAL TALK" rule? The hard feelings are putting a strain on the forum. Hopefully we can heal when this is all over, but who can predict? I still say it was misguided to start this whole thing. How can we get back to the way things were before?

mustang, I went to YouTube and saw a few vids on '66 Galaxies. The car you posted appears correct, all the ones I saw had the same trim and hood ornament (the LTD trim package debuted for '66, I thought your black Galaxie was really an LTD, but it isn't). I also think by that time all Galaxies were 500s, and probably had a wide range of engine options.

The only mods I have in mind are the wheels, maybe a 1" drop courtesy of Eibach, and tinted windows... simple and effective, imo. Eibach claims no loss in ride smoothness with their mild 1" drop kits, can anyone confirm this? I am probably not doing anything at all to the car until Spring anyway.

It would be kind of cool if the steel rims came body color with stainless trim rings and center caps, like the 70's-80's Z/28 steelies were.

They claim a more stable pressure with temp fluctuations, although I have checked the DIC at different times, and it does vary by about 2 pounds, cold to hot.
