  2. Here's one that came and went instead of getting a second generation version. The Delphi 4-wheel steering for full size pickups (Quadrasteer). It's flat - out amazing to watch one of these trucks handle a tight spot. I'd love to own one someday. I really felt like something good was lost when this got cancelled.
  3. My answer would solve that problem. I see the Lambda/ next gen GMT offerings as two wrongs that fail to make a right. There's a better way.
  4. OK, Mr. Impatient. I going to make a blanket nomination for the expanded use of alt/renewable fuels for use in ICEs. Why haven't we been seeing more results on the following? - fuels from algae - The Coskata cellulosic ethanol process - Natural gas powered vehicles - Propane powered vehicles - Bio-diesel powered vehicles - Hydrogen powered ICE vehicles ( and the Penn State process of hydrogen generation that makes it a viable fuel). We should be trying all of these out in the real world.
  5. I'd be more impressed if it rode on an AWD Zeta platform. I still strongly believe that this Escalade's days are numbered.
  6. I agree completely - they have to try harder if the car is to claim its own identity. That said, the Verano is far from the worst offender on this front. For what it is, it is ok. Not a standout, but ok.
  7. That's just the point, DF. I want cars like that to continue - that's why I get so vocal when someone says that I "have to" adapt to the new world order of cars. I refuse entirely.
  8. I humbly suggest that you give this a week so people can think it over. I'm still considering what I'd like to nominate.
  9. Die? I think not. For the masses that might be just fine, but no such "world cars" will ever separate me from my money. No clown-nosed euro safety mobiles for me , thanks. I they want to sell me a car, it will have to set itself apart from the pack. There is simply no way that I would ever lay out new car money for "world car" that has so many compromises.

  12. It's all pretty basic: Look both ways before crossing the street. Watch where you are going. And so on.
  13. Amen to that, Hyper! And, it is about time that we reject rules written for other lands. Sure they can, and have for years, and do now.
  14. And very few pedestrian/car accidents here compared to Europe where the regulations come from. As for the zombies, they are the source of the problem in whatever measure it exists here. The cars are irrelevant. We are far too obsessed with passive safety, and far to lean on paying attention in the first place. Again, I don't see this as justified here in the US.
  15. Sorry, but I reject the premise that because drivers in Paris and Rome don't know when to apply the brake, that we should all accept clown-nosed cars to protect people walking the streets of those cities. It's a solution in search of a problem here. I just don't see it as justified.
  16. Well, yeah. I always thought it was best to design cars to avoid hitting pedestrians rather than planning crumple zones to deal with the aftermath. Those regulations are just overkill in the "safety" direction.
  17. If that's really the case, then there is a whole lot of ugly in our future! Friggin' pedestrians! Friggin' European laws! Looks like only Holden and GMNA-only designs need apply for me.
  18. Had to drive that new Taurus again today (what a pile!), now that thing had some nasty plood.

  20. The trouble is that you measure prosperity in a decidedly different fashion than most folks.
  21. I get that, but it seems like it was the only priority for the car. That's what I found to be a bit odd.
  22. How would crash standards make that window happen? I'm not seeing the connection.
  23. It seems to me that GM's top priority with this car was silence. I find that to be a bit of an odd focus. Not that it doesn't matter (especially in a Buick), but they seem to have made it the central aspect of the car.
