  1. This is one orgasmic thread...
  2. That '65 Chevelle is amazing...
  3. I really do love phantoms - clones not so much. That wagon is defintely in the phantom category.
  4. Please do!
  5. Loved both of those pics.
  6. Good to know, Stang. I will defintely keep everyone posted on this. I'll lay out my basic initial plan soon. here's a tidbit to start: Missing: most of the saddle interior, seats, door glass (and hardware?), top material (have frame) Obvious needs: brake system, exhaust system, tires, belts, hoses, points plugs wires, fluids, fuel system, battery Step #1 will be a thorough pressure wash and cleaning Step #2 will be an attempt to get it running
  7. Happy Birthday, fearless leader.
  8. This thread sent me on a Warhoops search that had me following all sorts of tangential links for hours. Here is a gem of an album of vintage GM promo shots and more. http://public.fotki.com/gsteinma/old_transparancies/
  9. Thanks Ocn, I'm guessing that more eyes and ears during the parts hunt would be a huge help. My plan for the car is still just forming, but the project thread should be fun.
  10. I don't think so...
  11. Thanks for posting this!
  12. Haha! For now that seat is all it has to place my butt in, so it stays. The parts hunt could be epic.
  13. Rip Van Vette - still slumbering. But not for long.
  14. An agreement has been made, I'm trading some cash and a bit of landscape work for the car. I took a pic of it in its current "spider hole" that I'll upload shortly. I expect to drag it home next week.
  15. Check all vacuum lines while you're at it.
  16. I believe we have a deal. Details later tonight.
  17. Air Filter. That's where I'd look next.
  18. Love the Impala plate! Also saw a tweaked Camaro (blacked out tails and marker lights) and a very nice hidden headlight grille. And this morning I saw a Saab 900 turbo convertible in teal with a black top - been a while since I've seen one.
  19. Probably not. But the way cars like this are built, it doesn't take much to affect structural members. These days, bodywork is just a thin skin over vital parts of the car's anatomy.
  20. It does, and it might. I wasn't really looking for a donor vehicle, but this one was a pefect match so I considered it. Now, I will likely go back to the piece at a time plan.
  21. Oh well - too late. Ad has been yanked from CL.
  22. The rougher one still looks like a good foundation for a true resto project to me. The other one gives me a resto-rod vibe (one that I like).
  23. There are three reasons I wouldn't use the donor cab. 1) I'd have to convert it to 4WD, and rewire the new cab with the original harness to work with the EFI and existing equiptment. 2) Mothertruck's cab is in decent shape. 3) The VINs would no longer match and I'd have to file for an "R" title. I think there might be a minor dent in the roof, but that's no big deal. What you see as grab bars are actually mounts for a lightbar - I'll be removing them. I have a neighbor who is good with a welder - so all unused holes will be welded shut prior to paint. The caveat here is that if the deal on the '72 Vette comes through, I won't be able to buy the donor truck. That won't stop the project, but it will take my timeline back to a longer duration. The parts I would use from the donor would save a ton of time, but the originals are good pieces as well that just require more prep. Either way, I will post when anything happens.
  24. I like its current look.
  25. I really like that!
