  1. I was wondering about the roof and door thing too - then it occured to me that a film camera of the time was as big as a Hemi V8! They couldn't have taken many of those shots if the roof and doors were in their proper places. I also remember that some of the Chryco cars of that era actually would bend due to the power of the monster hemis - early unibodies had some definite drawbacks.
  2. That is just the best feeling! When the reality of my Firehawk was in front of me, rolling out of the Reliable truck, I just couldn't quite make it all real in my head. What a day!
  3. Has to be a story there...
  4. If you had, we'd be having a different discussion. :AH-HA_wink:
  5. OK, this is weird. Thanks to this thread, I now have a somewhat greater appreciation for this car. But. I also know why it rubs me the wrong way. It has too many different shapes, and they conflict (at least from certain angles).
  6. I believe that is true, but I can't cite a source.
  7. I saw one Pontiac, the rest were Chryco and Ford. But maybe that was part of the plan, to make the competition look bad? Also all of the cars are pre '68, some of them quite a bit earlier.
  8. I can't deny that. I think most modern design stinks, or is simply absent. But your Audi is a definite exception.
  9. That shot makes it look like another car entirely. Maybe I just need to see one in person.
  10. Those shots show it, thanks. I get what you like now.
  11. That would be great! I am also thinking Saturday, will post when I know.
  12. I actually like the interior- other than the dash itself.
  13. Is it the greenhouse where you see LH, DF?
  14. <--- looks for LH vibe
  15. Interesting. My impression vs, the CLS is the exact opposite. As for VW design, I don't remember commenting one way or another actually.
  16. Well that's true, but what doesn't these days? I do find the G8, Lincoln LS, Benz CLS, and other 4-doors attractive though - at least to a point I'm trying to see what DF sees in this car, but I just can't figure it out.
  17. Just to clarify, I was only talking about the design. I haven't paid any attention to the car's specs at all.
  18. What made you so sure? I'm just curious.
  19. Were you surprised that I liked your Audi?
  20. Sedan delivery would be so sweet!
  21. Not my cup-o-tea.
  22. No panels, but the two door wagons are the best! My family had a '65 with a 283 and a factory manual with overdrive! I taught myself to drive a stick on that car. Later, a friend of mine bought it and I used to cruise in it all the time. Fast and fun. It met an untimely end by getting rear-ended while stopped at a red light - another friend's mother was the guilty party there. (in a '73 Cutlass coupe, no less)
