  1. I had planned for the Silverado to be a ten year truck even when I bought it back in late 2004, but now I'm wondering if lots of other folks are thinking this way with more average cars and trucks that don't earn a living like my Silverado does. I get the sense that the "every three years" flip may be a thing of the past for quite a few people now.
  2. No. I mean not buying a new car for a much longer time than they might have otherwise. Like once in ten years instead of three, or five.
  3. Taking the best offer was the only course GM could follow. Can't damn them because the Chinese happened to make that offer.
  4. ...how many people will stop buying new cars long term after the disasters of the past year. Thoughts?
  5. This really pleases me, Holden is key in any GM future that's worth a $h!.
  6. I hope so too. They are the last chance I have to get what I want out of GM.
  7. TMI
  8. Obama may not want to run GM, but Congress won't be able to resist. GM had better move fast, faster than it ever has...
  9. The saddest thing is that "As goes GM, so goes the nation" is still true. Not looking too good at this point.
  10. The trouble runs deeper than that. These days inventivness is treated like an abberation, conformity is the order of this sad day. Our problems are sourced in the society itself.
  11. Figured as much. Sucks.
  12. Sorry man, I just found out that they are skipping Mid-Ohio this year. They are headed to Road America next.
  13. He who?
  14. Pics:
  15. What? You guys missed all of the pics earlier this year? I took a few shots on my way out of there tonight, I'll post them shortly.
  16. There will be no swap there. The Siverado will be keeping its duramax.
  17. I'm not sure about the years the diesel was offered (it may have been gone in '95), but it was the old 6.2, which I'd never want. As for the 800 two-door, I'd have to agree that it didn't translate quite as well as the 400 did - but I still wanted one! A duramax swap into a 6.2 400 2-door would be very cool!
  18. I remember seeing a new Blazer/Tahoe 2-door with the diesel on a lot in '94. They had decals announcing the engine on the hood.
  19. After having a great late breakfast with 66Stang and his daughters, I have to get back to the race shop. It was great to meet Chris and his daughters (who both probably think we are nuts talking cars so much). He's a great guy and our conversation was way too short. Thanks for breakfast Chris, we'll do it again sometime. So I'm off to do some wrenching on the red/black Healey you guys all saw reduced to a shell recently. I already have the rear suspension back in and am working on the front. I was there until midnight last night and made some good progress. Hopefully, the car will be fully suspended a few hours from now. The Lotus is also race-ready at this point and the red/white Healey is finished except for some details. I'll try to get some pics at the end of the day today.
  20. Wow! Thanks for posting this, Satty! Lose the stupid tails and the steelies and you have a very nice vehicle in a rare color.
  21. I don't know about you guys, but I just got home from working!
  22. Very nice job, DF!
  23. I still maintain that the Volt will surprise a great many people.
  24. Collectivism in all of its forms.
  25. Oldsmoboi: You may have nailed it. Balthazar: Yup, I was thinking of the 426. It always amazed me how Chrysler products could be so big without a real frame under them - especially with a torque monster under the hood.
