  1. OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!! err, bed, I mean.
  2. Croc and gm4life: Please take your dispute to PM, or drop it. Thanks.
  3. Time to quit stalling and get out there to give this a try. Even with 2 kerosene heaters and a space heater it's cold in the barn (18 degree low predicted tonight), but I need to get this done. I'll let you all know how it went.
  4. I can't argue with any of that.
  5. Better than the generic economic issues mailing I got back that never even mentioned the auto industry at all.
  6. So I should take that as an endorsement of Satty's plan?
  7. C4 bargains aplenty: http://motors.search.ebay.com/Corvette_Car...QsaobfmtsZinsif
  8. Gee thanks.
  9. You have alot more faith in my desireability than I do.
  10. Agreed. But in '84, the C4 was light years ahead of an '82 C3. People instantly thought Ferrari when they saw it for the first time (no joke). It made a huge splash, and only got better year after year - thus saving the Corvette nameplate from extinction. The '84, as lame as it may look now, is a very significant milestone in Corvette history. Do I love it? No, not really - my interest in C4s begins about '88 and reaches its peak with the ZR-1 and (perhaps even moreso) the excellent '96 LT4 cars. As far as collectibility goes, most C4s are still just used cars right now - but certain models and pristine low-mile examples will appreciate vs. the current value over time. Choose wisely and a C4 can be a real bargain.
  11. Decent review.
  12. Not so sure I see it quite that way, those cars were considered revolutionary in their time. It is only with the benefit of hindsight that they seem so lackluster. They created a huge stir and secured the continued production of the Corvette when that future was anything but assured. They replaced a very old C3, that had lost almost all of its performance and was universally panned at the time.
  13. Felt really tired last night and not so great generally, so it will be today that I give this a shot.
  14. That would require a marketing miracle.
  15. Exactly how I see it. I've been following those cars lately, and the trend is obvious. Late C3s are climbing fast, and early C4s are the bargain basement of Vette collecting. It is like a wave that follows production a few decades later.
  16. Nice to hear some good news for a change.
  17. I wish! Old Howard had the cash to do whatever he wanted. I, on the other hand, can't get the work I need to keep the ship afloat. I'm just frustrated, grouchy, and stressed-out. And I don't see much of a reason to struggle onward carrying all the weight that I do. That's why dumping everything has such an appeal. "When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose"
  18. I considered that option, but my faith in the engine hoist isn't real high. I'm going to go the chainfall and tie-down route. I'll set it up, lift the bed just enough, and roll the truck out from under. I may leave the bed suspended in midair and just back the truck back under it when I'm done.
  19. I can see that approach working. Boy do I hope they are looking at some version of this, the misperceptions of too many in congress need to be changed. They could still say no, but it would help if they at least understood the reality. They currently do not.
  20. If waiting were an option, I'd agree completely. Who knows, maybe there are enough pre-pros to run a few.
  21. No worries, Roger. I picked up the chain hoist today, but I'm too tired to dive in tonight.
  22. Nothing wrong with a traveling auto show, those cars should enter the "pitstop" location on their own, of course, but I don't see the need to risk them on unpopulated sections of the interstate. The production cars can take up the slack there. It just isn't realistic to expect the manufacturers to risk show cars and prototypes. Unless development mules could be spared.
  23. All of the prepros and one-offs should travel by trailer. You break them out at "pitstops" along the way.
  24. I like the tour aspect of your idea.
  25. KEYWORD: cheapshot
