  1. Double-edged sword.
  2. It might not hurt to invite congressional leaders into the inner sanctums of the big three for a guided tour as well.
  3. Great minds think alike, check out my posts in this thread: http://www.cheersandgears.com/index.php?s=...st&p=447300
  4. Passion must be part of the equation, and this could unleash it.
  5. Add to that all that Ford and Chrysler can bring to the party, and I think the point would be made.
  6. Let's not forget the Moon Rover was GM - a display on that would be good. This should be as much for the public as the government types - it should be an historic event in and of itself. All of this is within grasp, it just requires some thinking and some effort.
  7. I'd also set it up as a history lesson showing the contributions of the big three to this country over the last century.
  8. I think an array of "Joe sixpack" work vehicles decked-out in full go-to-work trim would also help. Delivery trucks, tow trucks, police cars, taxis, ambulances, military vehicles, presidential limos...
  9. Only the most impressive and efficient that genuinely show what they have been doing to raise quality and viability in the market. A huge display of their other tech (current and upcoming) as well as the true facts of the restructuring that they have been doing for years now. It has to be laden with good information and presented in an intelligent and impressive way. As Cool as Challenger, ZR-1, Mustang, Camaro, etc. are - those need to stay home. GM should be bringing the Volt, Fuel cell equinox, ALL hybrid models, all award-winning models, information on their commitment to Flex-fuel (with vehicles), their recent investment in cellulosic ethanol, the facts about the zero-waste initiatives at their plants, their charitable involvements, information on the intertwined relationship of the industry with our overall economy, the potential for leadership in the industry good R&D funding could yeild.... I think you get the picture. A full-court press of everything that actually matters.
  10. That idea has it's own merit. I think all three should display the best of their technology in an extremely overt fashion during the next trip. "Parade of Progress" style.
  11. It's not a perk. It's not a real issue. And, it's not important. So it is the typical stock-in-trade of politicians. Anything to avoid the reality of the situation.
  12. Oh, happy dance!
  13. Cool stuff! But the bed removal will be a "run what you brung" operation, so I'll have to get creative.
  14. Well put.
  15. Nah, those are cool but I need something to move a car body around without the chassis.
  16. Motorized dollies!
  17. Mine was still the best all-around car I have ever owned- I miss it.
  18. I could really use some sort of wheeled dolly as well...
  19. That picture is what my place would look like after a lottery win! (different cars, though)
  20. I'm thining about it all the time. Unless I have a real plan it won't happen.
  21. Now you have me thinking about how I'll lift the body of the El Camino off of the frame, Satty.
  22. I think if I use a long chain down from the beam and attach a chainfall my dad had, I will be able to operate it from the floor. I hope so anyway.
  23. Not the way that the lines are routed. It's easy with the bed off- but impossible with it on.
  24. I wish! The hoists I have are manual.
