  1. Here ya go ,Reg. I've combined the topics for you! It even has something to do with cars! Can you figure that part out?
  2. You are not alone, the Moodys are a major part of my musical life. I copied and pasted those lyrics, and I've noticed a few mistakes - so it's safe to say that I'm a Moody Blues fan. :AH-HA_wink:
  3. Oh, I have no objection to Saleen being involved at all. But I know SLP is cooking something up for Camaro as I imagine GMMG wil be. It won't be second sticker this time though, it will be a true aftermarket package.
  4. Any way you slice it, it's a case of greedy bastard.
  5. Yup, I'm looking forward to seeing it. That is if I can tear my eyes away from the G8 ST long enough to have a look.
  6. SLP and GMMG might have something to say about all of this. :AH-HA_wink:
  7. Pure BS, all of it. Greed is at the root of the pricing.
  8. That is truly pathetic. I hope that sort of crap has been largely swept away by now.
  9. Or better yet, replace the Escalade and the SRX with a line of crossovers a la the Denali XT. I'd use the Escalade name on them.
  10. Ask a dealer to run a search for you. Or go to LS1GTO.com, those guys have kept tabs on them and can probably tell you what's left and where it is.
  11. Yup. It's been far too long that we've been wasting time with different brands of the same car rather than different bodystyles within one brand. We don't need 4 versions of the same sedan, but a selection of bodystyles from the same platform either within a single brand or distributed among them. I'm a huge fan of keeping the bodystyles within one brand and one model line most of the time. Unless they are very different as in Camaro and G8. Even Solstice and Sky are too close - I would rather have seen a Solstice Coupe instead of the Sky. Don't get me wrong, I love the look of the Sky, but it just doesn't make as much sense to me.
  12. I can see lots of competitive advantages to a closer alliance between BMW and GM. I don't know about an outright merger though. The two companies build the best powertrains on the planet and have unmatched engineering capabilities. Great stuff could come from a close association between them.
  13. I agree almost entirely with this, except that the number of models per brand can't be a hard and fast rule. The company will need the freedom to respond to any market they see as viable. As a core mission, your plan is a good one and helps the case for consolidating the brands as in BPG. I would also say that with your 3 core products, the flexibility to offer variants within the brand should remain open as well. It is a cost-effective way to extend a brand's reach in the market and increase profitability with minor investment - the G8 "family" for example.
  14. I bought my Duramax Silverado late in 04 (2005 model) and diesel was 1.99/ gal. This morning I paid 4.16/gal. This is criminal. Diesel costs less to produce than gasoline and now top it dramatically in price. Someone is getting fat, and ripping us off bigtime.
  15. The Word (Graeme Edge) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This garden universe vibrates complete. Some we get a sound so sweet. Vibrations reach on up to become light, And then thru gamma, out of sight. Between the eyes and ears there lay, The sounds of colour and the light of a sigh. And to hear the sun, what a thing to believe. But it's all around if we could but perceive. To know ultra-violet, infra-red and X-rays, Beauty to find in so many ways. Two notes of the chord, that's our fluoroscope. But to reach the chord is our lifes hope. And to name the chord is important to some. So they give a word, and the word is OM.
  16. This post tells me that we actually mostly agree. There are major product problems that must be (or are being) addressed. The Buick sedans are on the way out the door and their replacements will tell the tale. The Torrent is going to GMC as it should. It gets sticky when you get to the G6 as it is a volume product and GM is fiddling around instead of replacing it with an Alpha car as they should be doing. This will be an important step for Pontiac and I hope that be it FWD or RWD, that the G6 replacement is a stunning car. The G5 is BS and GM should never have caved in to dealer demand for it - it should be expunged from the lineup. But, and this is a big difference, I don't see any logical reason to kill any brand due to the current product situation. The wrong aspect of things is looked at when brand-killing is seen as some sort of solution. Think of it this way, you have to start somewhere. Before the Enclave and the G8 did Buick or Pontiac have a world class product in the lineup? Other than the GTO which had already ended production, nothing from either brand could really be called world class (the Solstice comes close). I say, judge the value of these brands by what they bring to the table in the next few years, not by their outgoing product. The major point I think that we agree on is that GM needs to step up the pace of change and get this show on the road. They hesitate and hedge way too much. When what the brands need to define them and get them where they need to be is obvious to so many of us it is almost criminal how slowly GM moves and vaccillates at decision time.
  17. "Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music." - Rachmaninoff
  18. I love that shot!
  19. We don't really know that we haven't.
  20. Interestingly, all of the unsold GTOs are automatics. If they were manuals they would already be gone.
  21. The coasts get them first.
  22. They can be had at or below MSRP if you work at it a little.
  23. If your dealer is demanding a 7k premium on a G8, you need a new dealer.
