  1. ...or not. It seems that Pep Boys no longer carries Plastigage?!
  2. True enough, this car just looks like the Pontiac DNA was just sort of "hung" on a Chevy design to me. Plus I like 'clean" so the Chevy wins this one for me.

  5. 1980 Ford Durango: A "post-Ranchero" that saw limited production.

  7. <-------- waits for a thump on the head from Balthy.
  8. ...And what's BMW's secret? Not only have they used an inline 6 for years, but they fit it in a 3-Series and were able to offer AWD!. Has to be do-able.
  9. Seems to me that it was a mistake not to offer the Atlas in the Silverado and full-size SUVs, No volume or packaging problem if you did that.
  10. I get the packaging concerns, and MPG would change with new transmissions and DI. I think it's still worth looking at and I hope GM does.
  11. I've read that tri-five Chevy and Pontiac wagons shared the rear sheetmetal and other wagony parts...note the Chevy taillight opening w/ a Pontiac-specific light housing. The tail lights really were "phoned-in", would have looked better if they had just used the Chevy lights. Those taillights may have inspired the G8 taillights! Maybe. The tails on a G8 GT are pretty bad - the ones on the base car are more attractive.
  12. Haven't been able to make myself write the ad just yet...
  13. ...attempt a rod bearing replacement on a 1991 Jeep 4.0. Sure wish it wasn't so damned hot today.
  14. Diesel is a really good option (the Duramax is a fantastic engine), but it has three problems. 1) the perception gap - not as bad as it once was, but still there (though unwarranted). 2) cost - the premium to buy a diesel is just plain too high. 3) fuel - Diesel prices are not falling along with gasoline, and are absurdly high. I have to go back to the idea of an inline 6. They have attributes that (I think) are worth considering. 1) They are an inherently smooth-running design 2) They make great torque which is key in a truck engine 3) MPG 4) And finally, an inline 6 would set the trucks apart from the crowd a little - and nothing says that it couldn't be turbocharged. The recent Atlas engines were quite well thought of, so the tech is there.

  16. That resemblance is one of my objections, the goofy two-tone pattern doesn't help. Still, very clean and well preserved.
  17. Those cars were some of the worst stuff GM ever did.
  18. It wasn't me - I swear!
  19. It has goiter of the rump - Jeers.
