  1. Can't say that I think much of the other Avant ideas, but I sure wish I could find other views of the design I posted.
  2. Damn! That's quite the premium.
  3. Banks are run by scum.
  4. No, but I think that's going to happen soon.
  5. Well, I'm invited to the wedding - so this could serve as my gift to them.
  6. I'd venture a guess that the 2002 Firehawk T/A was the fastest T/A. ...and yes, the Firehawk option was an RPO.
  7. Ha! I wish. A kid who used to work for me is getting married in early August - he asked me if I could get a vintage car for them to ride in on the day. I'm going to give it a shot if the car hasn't sold by then.
  8. Once I have it in shape, I'm going to drive it around a bit, maybe to a few cruise nights - and possibly as a wedding car.
  9. He also put a bunch of money into it - the man is going to lose his shirt on this one. But the buyer should be happy.
  10. I've started to, and it's very strange. Prices seem to be erratic. The owner paid big bucks for this one back in 2007 - but the pricing seems to be down quite a bit now. I found a very nice fully-restored example priced at $35K. So this one will be a below $30k car. It's decent enough, but still a driver.
  11. It looks almost like this one: http://dormangarage.com/1960-Thunderbird.htm Except that it has wider whites, chrome Kelsey-Hayes/Thunderbird wire wheels, and a Continental kit. Once I have it all shined-up, I'll post pics of the actual car. 352 V8 Power windows Power steering Power brakes Power top Automatic A/C Pretty high-optioned for one of these.
  12. I'm going over one owned by the guy that owns the Healey race cars getting it ready to be sold. The car is red with a white top and red/white interior. Decent driver quality. I'll post pics at some point.
  13. Found On Road Dead The all-time classic.
  14. A wholehearted Cheers! I came very close to buying one of these in the early 90s when they could be had for a song. Sometimes you just know when something is destined to become a classic.
  15. I could go with a plan that creates an engine with this sort of look and builds something interesting around it using the same design philosophy. It could be a supercar, or a flagship, or a SL competitor - but this sort of refined look, extended to the whole car, is exactly the kind of impressive I'd like to see from any manufacturer. The attention to detail just makes the whole thing so much more impressive. Whatever Cadillac does, it has to set them apart from the crowd in a singular way. In times like these, maybe especially in times like these, something that is inspirational and aspirational has to be held out where we can see it. If you provide a vision of what could be, and make it real, it will draw people to itself and reflect well on all that you do. There is a reason that the motion picture industry did so well during the Great Depression - people need their hopes and dreams. Cadillac would do well to provide some of that.
  16. Ah Cort, though it is good to see you posting I sure wish it was under other circumstrances. All the best, my friend.
  17. Let's not forget a couple of things: 1) GM is still paying off the past. 2) Without GMC, many a Buick dealer would disappear. The situation between Chevy and GMC trucks is just one of those quirks in GM's history - one that just happens to work profitwise. This is one instance where GM has been smart enough to follow the simple logic of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
  18. I especially like the snow scenes.
  19. Ugh, we are headed for a heat-wave this week, and I have no A/C in the Tahoe... Envy.
  20. I agree that Ruess' statement is telling, but I heard a slightly different story than you did in his words. To me it sounds like the Cadillac budget is stolen from the other brands (makes me wonder what they have lost because of it). That doesn't necessarily mean that Cadillac is a "parts bin brand". It does, however, make Cadillac a drain on the other brands.
  21. So, you are saying that nothing can make it in the market if it is beautifully designed? Dodgefan's ZTS is well within Cadillac's A&S design language. Not radical, not quirky, just beautiful.
  22. Please. Beautiful design is beautiful design. No fringe required
  23. While this is not the new CTS it looks like the path the CTS will take with a little less squared off hard edges and more rake to the roof. It's beautiful - and that comes from a sedan hater who really isn't too interested in luxury cars. If Caddy can up their design mojo to this level - even I might take notice. NOTE: For those who do not know, the "ZTS" pictured above is the fine work of our own Dodgefan.
  24. So very 50s. "Magic Highway" took on another meaning in the very next decade...
  25. Love the scale model scenes - so convincing!
