  1. Ugh. Worst time of year.
  2. I'd be surprised if the republicans won big. And I'd be even more surprised if they sent CAFE to the circular file - they are just as wrong-headed about this as the democrats are.
  3. It's not ok, it's a wrong-headed, lazy way to address the problem.
  4. It is, and has always been, an idiotic approach.
  5. Happy Birthday!
  6. My newest vehicle is 17 years old and should hit 200,000 miles sometime this week.
  7. Seems a bit nit-picky to me - lots of cars have heat shields that collect goo. The missing welds are another story - that should never happen.
  8. Seems awfully low to the ground to me...
  9. If Ford could fight Ferrari and win, so can Cadillac.
  10. I think GM can walk and chew gum at the same time.
  11. Bah! They need to do something interesting, and that right now! Bold is what's needed. The rest is just a given - and boring as hell.
  12. Dwight: I was just mentioning the LMP so that folks would remember that Cadillac has in fact done some racing recently. The Cien was Main thrust of my post. Balthy: I love the GT40 vs, Ferrari story!
  13. Thanks Roger, I'd love to do the job. The only real loss I'll be taking is that I won't get to work on it the way I wanted. I REALLY wanted to get it farther along toward roadworthy before I sold it.
  14. Different headlights wouldn't bother me a bit - they are the least important aspect of the design to me. I could see them replaced by a chrome strip with the headlight location in a more normal place. Even the shaping of the front fenders could change without losing a bit of what I value in this design (everything else).
  15. Thanks, man. I think it will move quickly at that price (non-negotiable).
  16. Decision made. I hope to sell it quick at $5k including all of the parts. I'll do a detailed ad when I get the time.
  17. The pricing phenomena extends through the musclecar era. Just check the pricing on Chevelle or Corvette buckets up to about '75 or so, for example.
  18. True. But look at the detailing and shaping on it - Brilliant! So much character. Love the cowl shape, backlight, use of edges and curves... Something tells me that this was designed around Kappa dimensions.
  19. Makes me wish that I had stashed a batch back when these cars were in the yards.
  20. Likely some other software since it was a GM sponsored design study, but yeah, vaporware as far as I know.
  21. As for bodywork... And remember the Cadillac LMP?
  22. If Cadillac were to build a supercar, starting with the underpinnings of this racing Corvette would be a great place to start. GM has enough hot rodders in the ranks to come up with something that will knock your socks off using available resources. They should take a page from Holden's book and create a silk purse from a sow's ear. Remember Jon Moss? He'd be a great choice to lead the effort if they could coax him back into the game for the project. Some people just have a great talent for assembling existing pieces in a wholly new way that yields a result greater than the sum of its parts. The whole thing could be done at a cost much lower than the standard development of a new model. Think Saleen S7, or similar efforts in the past. It could be done.
