  1. I suspect that the dash speakers may have been an option with an uplevel factory stereo so the car may or may not have them. Either way, they are likely to be mounted under the dash pad and won't be easy to see or get to. Find a repair manual with illustrations and look it up to see what I mean. A knowledgeable parts guy might be able to tell you or even show you a diagram of the assembly.
  2. I can't believe I've had the Crew cab,Maserati and Jag as long as I have.
  3. Look around 68, ZR-1s are going cheap!
  4. If I hadn't been so impressed with the Duramax, my truck would have gotten the 8.1 gas engine. The 6.0 is a pig, makes plenty of power but it is even thirstier than the more powerful 8.1 big block. My 2001 6.0 was very hard to keep fed, and it seems so were most of them (at least in HD trucks) my local dealer's service dept.logged many complaints of poor mileage on the 6.0. The exact opposite was reported by owners of the 8.1. I hope that the 8.1 isn't dead, but the (seemingly false) perception that it gets worse mileage than the 6.0 may have doomed it.
  5. Nah, I've been watching ZR-1 prices for quite a while now and they are a bargain. Most people forgot about them when the Zo6 hit the showrooms and the prices have fallen. The car is one of the most significant Corvettes ever and far outclassed the competition of the day. I'd like to own one. Add to that, the fact that many of them have been babied and have low-miles and the car is hard to deny. I could name quite a few older cars that fit in here, but most of them would not be 1-owner,low-mileage cars. Those would exceed the budget in many cases. I'd look for a big block El Camino SS but I don't think it would meet all the search criteria.
  6. Love that list!
  7. Time's up! Z R 1 Perfect car to fit the parameters. Even so, I'd buy a 91/92 Firehawk first. :AH-HA_wink:
  8. 1988 Chevy V3500(K30) Crew cab since '96 (I think) has about 80k on it. 1985 Maserati Biturbo since '97 had 39k at purchase and just shy of 41k now 1979 Jaguar XJ6L since '97 70k at purchase, no miles added, garage monster. 2002 Firehawk took delivery 11/26/02 (actually took paper delivery much earlier) had ~200 miles on it(from dealer trade and SLP testing) now has ~4,700 2005 Silverado HD since August 2004 about 6 miles at purchase, about 27K now. 2004 GTO since December 2004, about 4 miles at purchase and ~ 7k now.
  9. Wow! I can't believe that two of my all-time most hated designs showed up in this thread(sorry Ven, I have always hated that gen Seville with a passion) Anyway, one last-minute clue before I give the answer: You could name this car using only 3 characters, yes just 3 keystrokes and we'd all know the car. I'll give you a few minutes.
  10. Well, if no one posts it before I check-in tomorrow I'll post it.
  11. Am I going to have to give the answer?
  12. Camino LS6

    RECALLED

Got that one too, for my Hawk, it extends the warranty to 120k miles. Fat lot of good that does me.
  13. You guys have nibbled at the edges but still haven't nailed the one I was thinking of. Viper is a fine addition to the list if you can find a low-mile example within the budget. BV you just can't follow the rules, Can you? Even in a hypothetical.
  14. It's a '79. Edit: the Jag, that is.
  15. :rotflmao:
  16. Don't forget that I said a specific car/model, Ven. :AH-HA_wink:
  17. I can't believe no one has mentioned the one I thought was so obvious yet.
  18. Idiots! All I can say is that "Granny" was damn lucky she didn't hit the Hawk. I'm in no mood to be nice to fools right now. As it was, a sizeable portion ofd my coffee ended-up in the shifter boot.
  19. No, but they could have been. They are based on the Trailblazer chassis and could have had an AWD version with mostly off-the-shelf parts.
  20. Just like that,Fly, just like that.
  21. I want this SSR. :AH-HA_wink: http://www.chevyssrforum.com/asc_diamondback.htm
  22. ...to get something to eat, and this grey-haired,Benz driving, back-up-before-looking, old bat damn near nails the front fender. If I hadn't reacted really fast it would have been ugly. As it was, I took a few seconds to stare into her mirror and use every expletive I could think of, remembering to mouth each one carefully in case she could read lips. What the hell is wrong with people that the simple concept of looking where you intend to back-up before doing so escapes them?
  23. True, but not what I had in mind. I'm thinking of a very specific car/model which I think is ideally suited to the parameters of the question.
  24. They have now posted the better part of 200 pics, just amazing.
  25. There is one car that hasn't been mentioned that really surprises me. Any guesses?
