  1. My sister has thought about wintering there..she's doing 6 weeks in Myrtle Beach next year, her 4th year down there. Not as warm as Florida, but an easier/shorter drive from Cleveland.
  2. I haven’t been there since I went to Disney for my high school grad night in 1988. Never cared for central Florida, but always will like the Keys and Miami/Miami Beach. Haven’t spent much time in the rest of the state other than St Augustine and Daytona Beach which I liked. I want to go to Amelia Island for the Concours de Elegance.
  3. MAGATs love the big pickups, though, especially in red states like Texass...can't see that changing anytime soon..they aren't going to switch to EVs.
  4. Interesting that a couple top people at Tesla quit this week, the manager or lead engineer for the Cybertruck and one of the other appliances left.
  5. First snow of the season today. Never got above 32F. Sun came out and got some graupel this afternoon. Snowing again this evening…
  6. Expecting some Lake Effect snow tonight into tomorrow and Tuesday. Tuesday is a holiday, odd to have a day off in early mid week like that.
  7. Walked out to check the mail and noticed the neighbors down the street have a full driveway…judging by the red balloon, either a kid’s party or an ‘IT’ watch party or both. What made me laugh is it’s all white, silver, gray or black CUVs. The predictable American suburban consumers…
  8. Heh heh..I've done a couple of those quizzes... got New York one time, Massachusetts another time...both would be fine for me.
  9. Speaking of ‘Dead EVs’, I heard on a couple different podcasts that Ford was considering dropping the Lightning, sales are tanking? Overpriced and overhyped…
  10. Yeah, small terriers make me happy.
  11. I grew up with cats and dogs, we had 'barn cats' that lived in the barn and they'd come around the house occasionally. We had mostly big dogs when I was growing up (German Shepherds from age 7 onward, Doberman Pinchers when I was very little), and a Miniature Schnauzer when I was very little. Decades later, my sister had a pair of Siamese cats that got along well with her pair of West Highland White Terriers. Spending time with her in AZ got me into small terrier breeds--from the Westies to a Silky and an Australian Terrier to a series of Yorkies, with inexplicably a Chi mix and 2 more Australian Terriers over the last ~17 years.
  12. Gloomy rainy day makes me sleepy. Quiet afternoon in the home office, not much action today. Had a half day Amazon technology seminar/training yesterday and next Tuesday is a company holiday. Odd to have a day off that Is not a Monday or Friday.
  13. I miss mid size or larger sedans, coupes and 4 seat convertibles.
  14. The new Prelude sort of looks like a less sleek coupe version of the latest Prius. I like the styling.
  15. It died.
  16. Yes, it cleaned up nicely. In early June, Hill Valley Auto (the local shop that restored my '87 Mustang) had hauled all the vehicles to it's shop nearby and got most everything running for the auction in July, except for the V8 Explorer (locked up engine, rusted out frame) and Bronco II (rusted out broken frame).
  17. He left behind 12 non-running cars and trucks also. I think I've discussed my 2022 adventure here in past threads..his death left quite a mess for my sister and I to deal with. He was a difficult person. Found the thread, MudFarmLife 2022. By the time of the auction in July 2022, I had driven an extra 10k miles going back and forth from home to the farm (90 miles each way, 4-5 times a week).
  18. My late older brother was a motorcyclist, had several in the 70s and several accidents with a couple hospital stays then. He didn't ride for 20+ years until around 2000 he got back into it, had 8 non-running motorcycles (a 60s Honda, Suzukis, Kawasakis, and BMWs) when he died in 2022.
  19. Talk of S1 and M1 made me think you were discussing Audis and BMWs until I realized it was about locomotives. A couple rail museums down in Tuscarawas County, Ohio where I grew up that I've visited that are worth a visit are the Age of Steam Roundhouse in Sugarcreek and the Dennison Depot Museum in Dennison. https://ageofsteamroundhouse.org/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=1758318224&gbraid=0AAAAAC5_5odMY_5GWNlWr1gR7xS2mRgRS&gclid=Cj0KCQiAiKzIBhCOARIsAKpKLAM4aibjFEFgI-02HvXmq9p8cTyzyJJPXaxAyOfLMhQFCxbE-sotjvkaAh8TEALw_wcB and https://dennisondepot.org
  20. Curtis Sliwa..he has an interesting story w/ the Guardian Angels. There has been a TV movie and a documentary about him... I don't miss globbo burgers. I still eat the occasional tiny slider or two, though.
  21. I've blocked the noisemakers so I see less of it. At 55, I have better things to do also.
  22. Since making major changes to my diet and walking more, I’ve taken off 10 pounds in the last month. Still got a ways to go, but almost under 200lbs for the first time in 25+ years.
  23. Vertical and blocky...needs quarter windows to break up those huge C-pillars, IMO...
  24. As weird as it sounds, I'd love to have a '77-79 Impala 2dr or Caprice 2dr as a hobby car. Straight 6 or 305 would be fine...I've just always liked that rear window and the overall shape. I really need to get back out to the PNW for a vacation...been a long time since I've been out there.
  25. I love it here in my part of NE Ohio...the park system is fantastic, love the beaches on Lake Erie, all the museums, concerts and restaurants in the Cleveland and Akron area.. I will likely stay here when I retire in a decade or so, maybe spend a few weeks or a month or so in the winter somewhere warmer.
