I love it here in my part of NE Ohio...the park system is fantastic, love the beaches on Lake Erie, all the museums, concerts and restaurants in the Cleveland and Akron area.. I will likely stay here when I retire in a decade or so, maybe spend a few weeks or a month or so in the winter somewhere warmer.

Salted roads, no inspections, poverty, red state issues. lots of beaters on the roads. Which is sad, as Ohio has many great universities and cultural institutions... still a lot of wealth here, though...I live a few miles from some of the most expensive real estate in the state (Hunting Valley, Gates Mills, Pepper Pike) and they just opened a new Porsche dealer close by. I'm an Ohio native, grew up here, moved back, still see some good here...it's not all Trump trash.

Wow..that's only 15-20 years old. A neighbor has one that vintage, a silver STX 4x4 super cab like that but in excellent shape w/ a rumbly exhaust. I've seen a couple Silverados from that vintage w/ holes as big as my fist in the front fenders (yet w/ shiny red paint). Saw one on I-77 last year that was so dilapidated the bed was tilted at about 20 degrees left to right from behind..

Reminds me of small Ohio towns from growing up that I know well...I'm reminded of the great 50 yr old song by Paul Simon, 'My Little Town'...'...nothing but the dead and dying back in my little town'...a great song that is still relevant today.

It's a huge case of FAFO, and also indicative of the failure of the US education system that there are so many fundamentally ignorant people.

That is my plan w/ my current Mac Book Pro...still plenty of space and running great at 8 years old...my work Mac Book Pro is over 5 years old.

Unfortunate about GM and their Apple Car Play/Android Auto plans..not a smart move, IMO. Apple Car Play and Android Auto work great in my CT6 and my sister's Equinox.

A friend and former coworker has a Regina SK-themed area of his man cave in his house in Huntington Beach, CA...Western Pizza menus on the walls, SK Roughriders merch, regional beer bottles, etc. I have a bunch of NE Ohio/Great Lakes region stuff for my man cave in progress--- miniature lighthouses, light house photos, freighter photos, etc.

Been dealing with the AWS outage at work today. Most of my microservices, batch jobs, etc run in us-east-2, but have dependencies on other services in us-east-1...ugh.

Yeah, Stellantis era JCDR are no bueno. I've had no problems w/ my '14 GC (FCA era build)....but I don't see myself trading it on a newer one (the JL GC has a nice interior, can't really warm up to the exterior styling).

People seem to forget Canada has 10 provinces (states) and 3 territories...so that would be states 51-61 or 51-64.

Reality is complex.

Done flying for the year...a flight to Denver, a flight to Colorado Springs via Chicago Midway, and two flights to DFW and back were the sum total of my flights this year. Next vacay will be likely a road trip in Spring. Thinking of driving down to Beaufort, SC, Savannah and Tybee Island w/ a visit to Macon to see the Allman Brother Band 'Big House Museum'...

Cutting off from society and leaving the country isn't realistic for me, I still have a career, mortgage, cars, dogs, etc. But I am minimizing my social media and tuning out the news, avoiding MAGAts, etc. A couple former coworkers that were a bit older have retired and left the country in the last year--one moved to Costa Rica and one to France.

Long had a thing for older Benzes, esp. the W126 S-class and W124 E-class. Drove my sister's '84 500SEL and '91 300CE often when I lived in Arizona.
