  1. LS-1 Horsepower in a lightweight 318i body for a lot less than a M3 motor would cost... and he probably also lowered his maintenance costs. I see nothing wrong here. Such cross breeding is fundamentally wrong and beneath contempt. You wouldn't put a Toyota engine in your Oldsmobile, would you?
  2. That's just stupid and wrong on so many levels...
  3. I know..still works fine though..after using for over 15 years, it's hard to give it up... Thanks. I hadn't figured out how to get rid of them..had 175 of 'em.. It crashes on me, doesn't seem to stay in sync..some accounts seem to be off a day or so on the app...
  4. That's cool....for a while when I lived in Ann Arbor, Mi I lived on a street between Pontiac Trail and Plymouth Road, but I drove Fords then...
  5. Mint for android is a steaming pile... it's not synched w/ the website, has no way to delete notifications, etc. I've been frustrated enough w/ Mint (both on the phone and the website) that I'm still sticking w/ MS Money for my serious stuff...(though I've thought about switching to Quicken).
  6. I've yet to find any buggy problems with Androids... assuming we are talking about a pure Android setup. Once Verizon bastardizes it, all bets are off. You want to see buggy... look at what the carriers (esp. Verizon) have done to bring Blackberries to their knees. Cyanogen is your friend. I haven't bothered w/ rooting mine yet... I've had a few minor issues w/ mine, mostly it locking up and requiring a hard reboot when I open too many apps at once and battery life. All in all, though been happy w/ my Droid. Not sure what my next phone will be...will have to check across the various Droid models Verizon offers in a year or so. A coworker brought in his new Samsung Droid Charge from Verizon today...looks pretty slick--4G LTE, 1ghz processor, Android 2.2..
  7. I'd love to see it here, though I still can't picture it as a Buick--too youthful and sporty. As a Chevy, though...
  8. Interesting..the way it's explained on Wikipedia is that the 402 was badged as a 396 in A-bodies (never seen a Chevelle with a 400 badge) and as a Turbo Jet 400 in the B-bodies (apparently both the 400 small block and 402 were available in B-bodies in the '70s). But apparently, the 402 was never advertised or badged on a car as a 402 for unknown reasons. On the other hand, I have seen full size ('72, 73 Impalas) with 400 fendr badges..don't know *which* 400 those designated, though..
  9. Wikipedia is always my starting point. I also like Allpar for Mopar stuff. Hemmings website is pretty good, I use it a lot more since I let my print subscriptions to a couple of their mags run out and switched to the digital editions. For print, my favorite old-car source is my 25+ years of Collectible Automobile magazines..I'm not sure if they have much content online, though.
  10. I was a long time Verizon customer when I got my 1st gen Motorola Droid about a year old now...I've been happy with it...one of the details that attracted me to this specific phone was the physical keyboard, though I find I use it very little..I'm comfortable w/ the touch screen now. As far as apps go, I use Gmail, Facebook, Pandora, Twitter, Chase bank, Mint (horrible buggy mess), and a few others..the OS has updated a couple times, I think it's up to 2.3 now. It's my first smartphone--I was a late adopter to smartphones after about 15 years of flip phones before (though I've had corporate Blackberrys before)...and I find it more than useful enough that I rarely ever take my laptop with me when I go out of town for the weekend or on a vacation. Only negative is the battery life, it seems to barely last through the workday w/ average use. I rarely even use my digital camera anymore (Sony Cybershot)--the phone camera is fine for general use and posts to Facebook pretty simply. I haven't bothered loading any music on it, I still have my iPod Classic + iTunes for that. What I'm interested in seeing is how the tablets develop...the iPad seems to be the dominant player, and there a bunch of Android-based ones out there, but how will the market look in a year? I have a Kindle for books, but have thought about a tablet of some sort...would be lighter than my laptop for living room surfing while watching TV, etc...
  11. Does it have a rotary dial and weigh 5 pounds?
  12. Buick had 2 different 400s, though, right? The Nailhead 401 '400' up thru '66 and a 400 from the '67-69 that was of a different engine family (i.e. the Nailhead replacemen that had a 425 and later 455). '65 according to what I read.
  13. As far as the Buick 400, it was used in the GS400 from '67-69 after the Nailhead was retired. The Olds 400 was around '65-69, was the top engine in the 442 amongst other applications.
  14. It's not just the dealers and chains that can be clueless and inept...my local independent shop which I've used the last 3 years (BBB ranked as the best in the state) has done a few annoying things in the time I've been going there..somehow they've managed to lose all the screws that hold the air cleaner housing in place and some of the screws from the front lower fascia and grille (I think they had to remove them to replace the radiator back in '09). I'm not 100% they did it, but I find it hard to believe those screws/bolts would go away on their own..
  15. I could see them using a cut-down GC platform for the next one. By architecture I meant RWD/4WD..should have been more specific, I guess.. My sister had a 2wd '04 Liberty...drove it a bit a few years ago, didn't like how unstable it felt in crosswinds and didn't like how close the windshield seemed..
  16. Liberty (remember it's still branded the Cherokee outside NA) definitely needs an update/redesign, but I'd definitely keep it as is RWD/4WD. Compass and Patriot are irrelevant and should go...leave the weak FWD based CUVs to Dodge or Fiat..
  17. On the morning drive to work I saw a clean '67 Corvette big block convertible in white w/ a red stripe w/ the sidepipes and stinger hood. Nice to see one of these in traffic instead of their usual location (high $$$ auctions).
  18. Saw a very clean '66 Plymouth VIP 4dr ht yesterday....a dark gold w/ black top.
  19. Happy Birthday, dude..wherever you may be (Delaware? Texas? Australia? Europe?)
  20. I could too...I'd keep the spotlight and ditch the alloys (or are those plastic wheelcovers) and get a set of black steel wheels.
  21. Going to be in the low 100s this weekend...which means...POOL TIME!!! I haven't been in yet, been too tired this week...I'm usually in before June 1, but May wasn't that hot this year.
  22. IIRC, the pricing of the GTO and G8 was pretty reasonable, comparable to the Charger...I would think the Charger would be the target price range of a Chevy RWD sports sedan if it were to materialize...
  23. Yes...with a Dodge signature grille this would make a good Neon..I'd bring the Neon name back also.
  24. Fisker of Arizona lists the address as 'TBD'. Probably will be in Scottsdale or on Camelback in Phoenix. I know where the Denver location is..
  25. Yes, Fiat's B-Class car is the Punto I don't know if Dodge will get a C-Segment car. If Dodge does get a C-Segment car, they might go with a Hatch (Bravo) and Sedan (Fiat Linea) lineup. With a few tweaks, that would make a nice Caliber replacement I think...
