  1. I thought one of the features of this new 5.5 was that it was designed to be set up as either pushrod or DOHC?
  2. Waterpumps could easily be tied into valvetrain. Power steering pumps are already electric in many cars. The alternator goes away because it's replaced by the regenerating flywheel. The only thing left is the A/C, which as Dwight mentioned, can now be located anywhere in the car instead of in the front plane of the engine. As it is, the current Ecotec serpentine belt only drives the alternator and A/C.
  3. The cig lighters can be run off a step down transformer for the accessories.
  4. I wasn't even in pre-school yet....
  5. Yeah, my friend Dominic and I will be going over it with a fine tooth comb, correcting anything we find out of place, and cleaning as we go.
  6. Got it home today. LOVE IT! I invited the former owner to join us on CheersandGears. I think he would fit in well here. I have some nit pick things to address, but it's a complete daily driver right now. I will be needing tires soon though. There is a bad shimmy over 55mph and the tires seem dry rotted.
  7. The other two percent are illegals?
  8. Now see, the latent scientist in me would want to experiment on him before trying to fix him. I'd strap him to a chair and observe: Does a GMC Caballero or Sprint elicit the same response? How about a Ford Ranchero? Dodge Rampage? Subaru Brat? Pontiac G8 ST? Cadillac Fleetwood Flower car?
  9. Only if the Catalytic converter is cold..... .... but it's probably just a ploy by BMW operatives in the local German city governments to sell more BMWs with automatic Start/Stop technology.
  10. Yeah, I know about that one. The guy I'm buying it from is a fellow Toronado lover. He's tried to take good care of it.
  11. It's got dual flowmasters on it.... apparently it's a smidge louder than a typical Toronado..... but I doubt its any faster.
  12. Soon: White 1981 Oldsmobile Toronado and silver 2004 Honda CR-V EX
  13. Most cars in Europe are manual transmission. Can't do remote start with manual transmission. (starting the car requires the clutch to be depressed) Such a low take rate in Europe, they wouldn't bother offering remote start for just the automatic transmission Insignias
  14. Thanks. This will be my 3rd Oldsmobile and 2nd Toronado.
  15. It's about 20 minutes east of downtown Columbus Ohio.... about 3 hour trip for me.
  16. I know 68 will be disappointed that I picked wrong wheel drive instead of rear wheel drive..... but picking RWD for "improved handling" in these cars is like picking an African elephant instead of an Asian elephant to go through the slalom with because it's ears are bigger.
  17. Getting a Vanity plate for it CHRNGR 1
  18. Sometime late Tuesday night. The arrangements have been made.
  19. A wild Toronado appears.....
  20. then.... what... we could have given more money to the banks?
  21. Except that since at least 1991, GM hasn't been without a DOHC V6 available in at least one car... and the current pushrod 3.5 and 3.9 were new engines when released and in no way related to the 3800. But you've been told this before and you continue to peddle your BS
  22. I've been very frustrated by the truck prices around here. It's not uncommon to see someone asking $7k for a 1999 Ranger, clean, but with over 150k miles on the clock. The ones that look reasonably priced for their year and mileage end up having rust holes or torn up interiors or are pissing fluids all over the pavement or all of the above.
  23. I was raised on the Delaware River. My parents are on their 4th boat since I was about 7 years old. They went from a small aluminum fishing boat, to a 6 seat ski boat, to a bow rider with I/O, to a 48" twin engine cruiser. They also got into the marine business. They do performance propeller tuning, balancing, and repair.
  24. I just wonder the mileage on it. $1500 doesn't get you a lot of truck here.
