  1. Has anyone ever pondered the idea that this was Osama's goal all along? He knew he couldn't take out the U.S. with conventional or even guerrilla warfare.... but rather tried to goad the U.S. in to a war where it bankrupted itself until it implodes in financial catastrophe causing citizens to turn on each other and the military responding with force......
  2. How's this for a dirty trick? I have my mortgage set to autopay. For years I've always paid the full amount for the 30 year mortgage. Well, apparently, I have a new optional minimum payment and Washington Mutual automatically switched me to that instead of my full payment amount. It's only $25 a month difference, but had I left it alone, I'd have a balloon payment treat at the end of my mortgage.
  3. Every Sunday morning is real buttermilk pancakes fried in butter on the grittle with sausage or bacon, a large pot of black tea, and a piece of fruit.
  4. Fox news, Drudge Report, and Time Magazine are all reporting that McCain is planning on a major course change for his campaign. FiveThirtyEight.com has the analysis.
  5. The political discussions are not the cause. People acting immaturely are the cause. OCN, you've offended people who thought they were your friends. You've engaged in ad hominem, ad nauseum. You've been spoken to about your attacks on other members of this board and yet you continued to do it. You've been a shining star of why we cannot allow political threads outside of election season, in fact, I think you are the sole reason for me wanting to change my vote for political threads. You have proven me wrong in my feeling that we're all mature enough adults here to have civilized political discussion. While I vehemently disagree with GM4Life and Balthazar politically, they have conducted themselves with a level of maturity <with one exception> that you have either been incapable or unwilling to display. They are able to form a political argument, with facts and figure and links. For that, I respect them and their views and would enjoy tossing the political ball over the net with them indefinitely. In regards to your apology, you are rather fond of demanding actions rather than words. Doctor... heal thyself.
  6. Wait? Haypops... why wouldn't you last as long as the warranty? Did I miss a thread?
  7. The new name is so obvious, I'm surprised none of you have posted it. General Mopar!
  8. The Republicans just don't have the money for the ground game (or any game) that Obama does. RNC just yanked some funding for McCain so they could try and save a few of the congressional seats that are up for election this year. The RNC is basically "calling it" for Obama one month out by doing this.
  9. Just a reality check:
  10. What's funny is that current predictions are that the economy will stabilize in the latter half of next year so it's highly likely that BO will get the credit for it.
  11. It's a "two birds, one stone" problem. Even the most conservative estimates think that even if you put a drill bit in the ground tomorrow, the infrastructure wouldn't get that oil to market till 2012 at the soonest. But even once it's on the market it is still a non-renewable resource and does nothing to ween us off of using petroleum for transportation. However, if we put a shovel in the ground tomorrow to build an algae-ethanol processing plant, it too would come online around 2012 and would be completely renewable. It would also help to accelerate the drive to non-petroleum based fuel. Pass a law that states that by 2012, all new vehicles sold in the U.S. must be FlexFuel and that by 2016 all vehicles must be able to run pure alcohol with E85 as a backup fuel. Additionally, direct the EPA to certify conversion kits that will not violate emissions equipment laws. The OPEC states, seeing their biggest source of funding dry up, will start dropping prices rapidly in order to thwart the process. We can have Hallmark commission a giant "f@#k You OPEC" card and we can all sign it. Two time lines. Two paths...... one addresses the symptom... one addresses the problem.
  12. I'm voting for Obama then promptly getting on an A330 for Frankfurt. I pushed my vacation back a day just so we could be here to vote.
  13. fixed The key to energy independence isn't the stopping of importation... it's the stopping of energy being a finite resource.
  14. Well... there's your guys answer for what will replace the Zeta platform...... it'll be the LX.
  15. I'm starting to see some amazingly good deals out there. I haven't been in the stock market for a few years now. The last time I bought in was the bottom of the market crash just after 9-11. I took just a few hundred dollars and was able to turn it into a substantial down payment for my CTS. Highest on my list is CBRE At 70 cents a share, they seem like a great deal. They pay a dividend, they're small cap, and they have a tremendous upside once the real estate market returns.
  16. Hey man. You broke the rules in a non-political thread AND politically attacked another member who happened to be a mod. What did you expect to happen? But you're starting to sound like Bush.... completely unable to admit when he is wrong.
  17. If by "usually" you mean "hardly ever".... then yes.
  18. I assume you'll be publishing a prompt retraction? And Oh nooo! Biden said TV instead of Radio...... when it was clear Biden was talking about Roosevelt's Fireside chats.... way to miss the point over a minuscule and irrelevant detail
  19. At this point, I'd think the disapproval rating congress has comes from not standing up to Bush and Co. The democrat's agenda will be substantially different with a democrat in the whitehouse....
  20. Alternative Energy should be the main thrust..... Allowing drilling is fine, but shouldn't be a priority.
  21. Damnit! If only I hadn't left my time machine out in the rain! DRILLING NOW WILL NOT HELP!
  22. Pointing out far right idiocy maybe?
  23. At that point I stopped reading. The rest of the email should go like this:
  24. Actually... as a preview to a thread I'm probably going to be making in a few days. We are very near the bottom. We'll have "dead cat bounce" till January 2. Stocks will probably rise again in the beginning of 2009 till the retail numbers come out... we'll have a short drop followed by growth again into the rest of 2009. Credit should start to thaw around March 2009 with home and car sales picking up shortly after.
