Are you trying to tell me that infrastructure and education should be privatized? A strong, healthy, educated, and mobile workforce has MANY other benefits. Lower crime, higher standard of living for everyone, better growth....

LTZ is my vote. There isn't much difference in equipment. I used to have a CTS with the 3.6 and it's a great engine, but with today's gas prices I no longer find it justifiable. If this car will primarily be used for commuting just get the 4-cylinder. If you're looking for something to throw around... well... you're looking at the wrong car anyway. I just priced out a fairly base 9-3, new... and they can be had with the Turbo-4 and 5-speed for 24 and change with a sunroof. Far more tossible. If you really want the V6, well get yourself something that has the moves to go with the muscle and find yourself a CPO CTS.

Biden is probably the most qualified Senator in international relations. That is Obama's weakest area. Plus, the worst they can smear him with is that he plagiarized some British politician's speech 20 years ago. I like that he talks too much and says what's on his mind. He's much more "straight talk" than McCain is these days.

What about taxing the rich and giving that money to infrastructure, education, and healthcare? A strong, healthy, intelligent, mobile workforce is the BEST gift you can give to the capitalists.

What if I'm the CEO of a large company... say.. an insurance company. I place a lot of REALLY risky stock market bets using other people's money. I pay myself a record setting salary and get the board of directors <CEOs at other ginormus companies> to approve it. I feel really good because 1. I made a bet using other people's money that could potentially pay off big, 2. I paid myself for the wisdom of making that bet, 3. If the bet was wrong, my company is so large that the government can't let it go bankrupt, 4. If it does go bankrupt, I've already negotiated a $41 million dollar golden parachute that I get before anyone else gets any money........ The incentive to f@#k it up so badly that you require a government bail out is HUGE. The Republicans are opposed to any salary cap for companies receiving bailout money. I find this astonishing. You keep throwing around Socialism as a bad word...... I say that in this case Socialism is not only required but justified. I'd have no problem adding a line to the tax code that says "You're on the executive team of a financial serviced company that failed in the past 8 years, your tax is 90% and retroactive"

To settle the "defense spending" debate. McCain said that we need to stop no-bid Cost+ defense contract because we're getting ripped off. That is something I can agree with him on.

I'm not sure why this is a surprise. It was the fastest FWD car around the Nurburgring until June until some little Renault beat it by 5 seconds. It's 8:22 time matches the Nissan GT-R and E46-M3 while beating cars like the E95-335i and Audi S5.

Settle down: Volt batteries can recharge while driving What the Volt's gas engine can't do is completely recharge the battery pack to its full capacity. Rather, when load conditions are light the gas engine will send surplus electrons to the battery pack, which will also be receiving extra charge from regenerative braking, as well. That sounds about right to us, as we've always been told that constantly charging a battery to its maximum will shorten its life, as the optimum charge range is usually between 20 and 80 percent, not completely drained and not completely charged. GM is determining right now just how much it wants to let the gas engine charge the Volt's battery pack, but rest comfortably knowing that your future Volt won't be carrying around 400 lbs. of uselessness when the charge runs out.
