  1. I think both Saturn and Buick should have a lineup where every vehicle has a hybrid version. Saturn would cater to the lower end of the scale and Buick could cater to those who still like a bit of ostentatiousness. Besides, Buick has the perfect trim line name, Electra.
  2. If Apple has listened to the consumer, the iPod would have a user replaceable battery, music bought in iTunes wouldn't have DRM, and Leopard would run on a Dell, and the iPhone would be able to be used on any GSM network. Sometimes products sell well just because they are crowned "The Best" by the media.
  3. this thread has gone :gay: in just one page.
  4. From SMK From edmunds From SMK What he means to say is that an AWD CTS is heavier than a RWD 535i. An AWD 535ix is only 60lbs. lighter than the CTS. How is that not obese also? From SMK I don't know if these numbers are just made up or what. The 0-60s are wrong for both, the skidpad is wrong for both the CTS did better, the slalom is wrong for both, the weight balance is wrong on the CTS. From SMK: again, quite simply wrong
  5. You are correct. There was nothing personal, nothing offensive, and nothing controversial. However, continuously posting incorrect information has gotten people banned before. OMG! SMK has been SHELVED!
  6. I'd go as far as to say that the CTS is NOT Cadillac's entry level car. It's just Cadillac's least expensive car in an incomplete lineup.
  7. It's not dissent when someone consistently and persistently posts incorrect information and invalid comparisons. If I came on here ranting about how a Subaru Legacy couldn't out handle or out accelerate a Mini-Cooper S constantly and calling the Legacy junk for it, I'd get banned. Classing cars based on just price is stupid. stupid stupid stupid. The TSX, Lucerne, 300c, GS, ES, RL all fall into this price class as well. Do we *really* need a comparison between Lucerne and the 3-series just to prove that, yes Virginia, the smaller car will out handle the larger car, with threads upon threads about how GM needs to fix this or fix that so they could possibly outsell the 3-series with a Lucerne? It's flat out NOT dissent. It's trolling.
  8. Or we could take away the ban on pebble bed nuclear reactors put in place by the Carter Administration to reduce the chance of nuclear proliferation. The pebble bed reactors that Westinghouse is developing for China could be used here. The some nice things about pebble bed reactors is they have an inherent, natural, safety system so that if there is a catastrophic loss of coolant, the reactor goes into idle mode. This happens without any human interaction at all. Secondly, the nuclear fuel is recyclable. They don't use water as a coolant so there is no need to locate them near rivers. They use helium as a coolant which is about the most benign element there is. It doesn't pick up radioactivity like most other elements do... so if the coolant escapes, it's not a health hazard. Then we could replace all those dirty coal plants.
  9. because hydrogen is not a fuel source.
  10. Indeed, $10,000 does put the 5-er in a different price class... however it still has exactly the same equipment and size as the $10k cheaper yet equally appointed and capable CTS. Tell me, what about a $10,000 more expensive 5er with the same equipment makes it worth $10,000 more? Oh... right.... Definately worth 10k
  11. Didn't you know? Anything can be called a coupe now. Fly's Aurora was one of the first modern 4-door coupes
  12. Oh look, just like every K-car evar!

    IS-F vs. RS4

Wait... that can't be! More gears means smoother performance doesn't it?!
  14. Yeah, but I bet they didn't really knock the Infiniti for it's interior.
  15. Wow, Entourage way down. Tucson way down. Elantra down, Sonata up <check your Dollar lots> but down so far for the year, Accent up slightly.
  16. I rode around in a Lucerne with the 3800 all weekend. Drove it some of the time. I never found it lacking power or acting in an unrefined way. Getting it on a smooth highway is hauntingly quiet. I think everyone who bashes this car should drive it just so they actually know what they are talking about and remember that it's not supposed to be a 3-series. Would the 3.6 have more power? yep Would the driving experience change? nope
  17. On this rare occasion I do have to agree with empowah. The CTS finishing third is definitely not average. You have to remember that the A4, 9-3, TL, and MKZ weren't invited. When is the last time a Cadillac beat a Mercedes AND Lexus AND had no backhanded compliments or snide remarks in the review. There is seriously nothing bad said about the CTS in this review. They say it's the roomiest car of the bunch and the extra size makes it a little slower. I have an old saying "It's not mean if it's true.", They gush over the interior and commend the handling and braking. I still question how the G took first with the interior it has. The top two are definitely the CTS and 3-er. Since I like "flare" and have had such a great experience with my CTS, I'd definitely take the Caddy. Just reading this article makes me wish I was driving my old CTS now.
  18. They still haven't fixed it? It's not exactly the smoothest 5-speed on the block, that's for sure.
  19. I think we'll see what happens in the sales numbers. The CTS has vastly improved on itself, already offering a great chassie, engine, handling, and reliability <dig at BMW there>. The G has simply redesigned itself to a slightly newer shape with nothing majorly new over the old one... and the interior *still* is questionable.
  20. I don't know if you have a Meineke up your way, but they do free brake inspections down here. I took the CTS in because it was near 40,000 miles and thought it was time for brakes. They told me I had ceramic pads and they were a 10 out of 11 on their life. <shrug> Shocks should easily last 100,000 miles.
  21. If I have 45k to spend, how is a 5-er or E-class not competition for my dollars? Lets, see I can spend 45k on the CTS and check every box except AWD OR I can get the same size car over at the BMW dealer with 230hp, "leatherette", no Nav, no sunroof OR I can get a Civic sized car that gets all the same equipment as the CTS except still has "leatherette", and no better gas mileage. Usually when you pay more, you get more. That's why people buy a ES over an Camry. Between Cadillac and BMW 5-er, you can pay the same as the Cadillac and get less... or with the 3-er you can pay the same as the Cadillac and get less equipment and room but get to 60, 1.3 seconds faster while having nearly the same handling. In order to simply match the equipment and room as a completely loaded CTS AWD with DI, you'd have to spend $10,000 more at BMW for a 5-series. The BMW simply isn't as good a deal.
  22. My point was that having NAV available hasn't helped Ford in this price class.
  23. I bet it would be insanely easy to integrate Turn-by-Turn into onscreen nav. Have the Onstar operator find the route in google maps then download a small export to the Nav system over Verizon's EVDO system.
  24. Great, now since we're comparing based on price, compare a 45k CTS to a 45k 5-er, 45k E-class, and 45k Infinity M. you know... the cars the CTS is actually the same size as.
  25. Don't worry, they'll use a seventy twelve gazillion speed transmission.* *only speeds 2,3,5, and 7 will actually be available.
