    BMW has to sell bottom feeder X1s to survive. Cadillac doesn't... GM can sell plenty of Traxes and Encores outside of the Cadillac brand. What BMW is trying to do is be General Motors without multiple brands (Mini is niche of a niche and has been struggling big time, Saturn sold more cars in 2009 (79K) the year they were canceled than Mini sold in all of 2015 (58k)

    That's actually a pretty good lease deal for a car of that price. Whether or not leasing makes sense for your personal situation is subjective.

    Yes, you will see things listed as a timeline. You can actually customize your activity stream if you want, so if you don't want to see certain types of activity, you can edit it.

    The main point is that we're now on much more modern web technologies. The site works far better in mobile than it did before. It allows us a new platform for future expansion. And once the database update tasks finish up overnight, the site will be even faster than it is now. There is still work to be done with the article templates, but I didn't want to hold the upgrade back any further to wait for those to be completed. I kept the look as close as I could to the original so I didn't overwhelm people post upgrade, however a new look and logo is coming soon too.

    2019 is a long time. The GM twins will likely be refreshed by then, the frontier will be new, and there is still the Ridgeline.

    I don't like the horizontal headlights. Cadillac needs the front vertical blades.

    And we're back! The upgrade was successful. You may notice some posts or articles that are not properly formatted. The server is currently processing those posts and will fix all of the formatting over the next 36 hours.

    To bring it back to the topic.... if stop/start were an issue, we'd have been hearing widespread reports about it since it came out on the Malibu hybrid in 2008, or any of the eAssist cars, or the Honda IMA. And when you look into it.... it's virtually nothing. More people have their driver's door handle break on a Malibu than have problems with start/stop.

    Not on reliability. They have their place and purpose. What I'm leary of is some rather dubious fuel economy advantage claims certain manufacturers make over larger displacement non-turbo engines. I have no qualms with a turbo engine in of itself, but I remain unconvinced that it is inherently superior to an engine of larger cylinder count and/or displacement in terms of fuel economy.

    You said the same time about turbo engines and reliability 5 years ago. The moment your foot even thinks about pulling off the clutch, the engine kicks on.

    For the moment, we will be keeping the look and feel as close as we can to what we have today. I don't want to do too much major change all at once. Think 5th Gen Camaro to 6th Gen Camaro - It looks mostly alike, but everything underneath is all new and substantially upgraded with superior performance.

    Stop-Start has worked in manuals for years. Put your foot into the clutch while not moving and the engine shuts off. My BMW rental in Germany did that to me 5 or 6 years ago.

    I finally have a successful test upgrade of the software complete. I will be pulling the trigger on the upgrade sometime this week. It takes about 12 hours to complete the initial upgrade before I can let you back in, then here is 24 hours of background upgrading where search won't work and posts might not look right. The speed of the site is greatly improved and also improved mobile support. Please note - Your current display name, if different from your log-in name, will become your new log-in name. You should also be able to use your email address to log in. Of course I will also make my email available for anyone who has log-in difficulties. This is a major step for us, but it will enable some exciting new stuff that we can add in the future. Regards, Drew
