What would it be based on?Not everything is based on money.

Even a 5K premium would not turn me off from buying a Diesel AWD CTS.
This would rock. I take this over a hybrid any day.
How many years would it take you to save $5K? Except the fuel economy are there any other reasons you want a Diesel?
-
Escape still out selling it. I'm sure with big rebates but how much can it cost to build the Escape with that ancient platform and drivetrain.CR-V is still on fire!

Altima was never intended to 'overtake' the Camry. Let Toyota sell to the average dweebs.
I'm sure Nissan wouldn't complain if they would sell 40k Altimas next month.

Isn't the Fusion like 3200 lbs.? That wou d be a fast car with the 3.5 engine.they need to get the 3.5 in the fusion/milan too.

I agree 100% and that would probably be the best thing that can happen to the US auto manufacturers. F and GM would be a natural fit to pick up those buyers and would take a lot of pressure off of them as far as NA plant capacity. MB could keep Jeep and relaunch it much like BMW did with MINI.
I see your point but how would somebody go about shutting down Chrysler, or most of it?
-
Perhaps Nissan-Renault. Ghosn is the only one semi-successful at merging automakers in recent years. But acquiring Chrysler might be his Waterloo.
Nissan-Renault, GM and Ford would be a much better fit for Chrysler than MB ever was. I was always skeptical about DCX, they are so limited when it comes to sharing platforms, engines......
-
Better to let Chrysler go out of business. Many Dodge Ram buyers would move over to Silverados, and LX buyers would be natural customers for the upcoming Zetas. Jeep and maybe minivans are the only appealing thing for GM. The few fans of Chrysler's small cars can buy Mitsubishis or Hyundai/Kias.
Chrysler is not going out of business, somebody will buy them.
-
Long term they could save a lot of money, name me one platform type, engine, transmission.....which Chrysler could need that is not already in GMs part bin. All these "parts" are paid for or will be paid for regardless of how big GM is. There is so much duplication that could be taken out. The only question is, is GM healthy enough to handle Chrysler today.

This car should replace my CTS, I have 22 months on my lease. I'll put in a prayer toward lease pull ahead myself. There is nothing I do not like about that car. It is the perfect next purchase. The G6 lease is up in T-minus 21 months and counting (praying for 6 month lease pull-ahead from GM).

Read between the lines.
True that, but they upgraded F also. Maybe they upgraded F just to not make their GM connection to obvious.

Oh come on - You seem to miss the original point of this discussion.
You were wrong on capacity constraints for the Fusion products.
Global sales - are less than what you stated.
If you want to continue to play your games - get your facts straight. I have been in this business way to long.
Why is it so hard to post the numbers? You called my numbers wrong but will not post the "correct" info. BTW, I did say that I estimated the Mexican and SA sales, no need to insult.

I was wrong about the plant being maxed out but how are my sales numbers wrong? Do you have better numbers?
-
I don't think they are inflated, during the first 10 months the US sales are 177881, Canada ~15K, I estimated Mexico and SA at 10-15K. Too many countries down there, don't feel like doing the research. According to this random article the plant is already running 24 hours a day. http://www.autonet.ca/News/story.cfm?story...2059993-ap.html

Their Fusion strategy is interesting, while selling 10K units is nothing impressive we have to keep in mind that those are about 95% retail sales. At this point they couldn't sell 20K units a month even if there were that many customers, the plant is already maxed out. It's no wonder that the rebate is only $500 at this time IIRC. I wonder if they will stick with one plant for a few years, until the Fusion is established player and sales can go up without of having to practically give them away.

They got 0-60 in 6.9? Maybe they suck at shifting.
I've seen the non-Sport CTS with the 3.6 get as low as 6.6 (maybe even lower?). Hell, some publications had the 03 CTS with the old 3.2 getting 0-60 in 6.9 while most were around 7.0 or 7.1.
Also, I just thought of something: The C&D SRX was AWD vs. RWD for the Edmunds SRX. Maybe that had something to do with it.
AWD will make it slower.
