    Vote please!

I just voted and GM is ahead by a 2 to 1 ratio which suprised me. Must be a lot of Cheers and Gears fans skewing the results
  2. Well I myself don't pay attention to this body style(BMW pics). I never noticed the hard top look, to me it had a huge rear window much like it was a four door car without the second set of doors. I have driven nothing but f-bodies so far as my daily drivers and while I consider myself an f-body entusiast, I never notice the pillarless design of the first gen as I said in an earlier thread. We do live in a society where our manufactures have to meet many new criteria they did not have to worry about in the sixties. Whilesome may complain that 80 pounds extra is not a big deal, you have to remember that GM will have to deal with the new CAFE ratings and it is something they need to worry starting with the Camaro. I mean they are talking about killing the next Gen G6 because it will not meat the new CAFE rules. While al this safety gadget may be overloaded it is what many consumers look for. If the Camaro comes in with 4 stars then the public believes the car is not as safe as competition X and they write it off. I like to order my cars the way I want which was not possible in my 4th gen TA, but when it comes to my 17 year old son I am very leary about putting him in our Toyota with no airbags. I have spent too much love and energy too see him killed more easily in a less protected car. Sad but true. One more observation. GM has to keep the mass of hoped for consumers happy too see that the Camaro continues to sell in it's fifth year or they will kill it for good once and for all. One only needs to look at the idiots who bought Hummers and then gave them a poor rating in the JD Powers survey because of all things they were getting poor gas milage. Go figure, but GM needs to protect itself form idiots like that. Am I happy the Camaro won't be a hard top? Not really but if I don't get a Vette before then, then the Camaro will be replacing my 93 TA. I only wish I can order it item per item as I did with the 85TA.
  3. Same here. Better call my brother-in-law and see if his Civic Hybrid made it to work this morning.

  5. Man, that silver hatchback is DAMN good looking to me. That should sell well for Mazda. Is this from the same stylist who designed Pontiac's Solstice and then jumped ship to Mazda? It did remind me a little of a Lexus when I first saw the images, but I still love the silver five door hatchback. It's too bad I won't consider anymore foreign cars in my garage.
  6. And soon we will have the import brigade saying the interior is still inferior, the plastics look cheep, the leather sucks, there are rattles, etc.
  7. Yep, you are right Camino. I don't think GM wants to pay royalties to the SCCA for a limited car, but I can still be wishfull
  8. My 85 Trans Am has them on the center console as well and was dissapointed when I purchased my 93 and found them on the door. Eventually I got used to the door mounted controls but I still prefer them on the center console.
  9. AND I WANT TO OVER AND BASH A FEW POLITICIAN'S HEADS FOR THAT. They seem so short sighted when creating bills it pisses me off. But they don't give a crap about the US auto indusrty unless it affects their re-election bids. FOOLS!
  10. Jealousy has nothing to dowith it. I am tired of the caost states acting like they are superior. The last time I check the middle states were part of the United States and I see no reason to put them down as so many west coaster like to do. I agree with you that I have a disdain for the LA mentality. Evertime I visit my sister in Manhattan beach I can not stand being around so many fake people(including my sister).
  11. Exactly and you can see this play out within my own family. I like the Solstice and my 17 year old son prefers the chisled looks of the Sky. Both cars while similar are what I call successful platform engineering which look different enough as to cause people to like one over the other. I think GM has been successful in this regard and should continue to implement this process and stay clear from blatent and unappealing badge jobs like the Cobalt and G5 which are obvious clones.
  12. Agreed. I live in the San Francisco area and I am sick of the elitist attitude of the west (Los Angelos in particular) and east coast states. They believe they dictate fashion, style etc to everyone else and think the people in the states between the coasts are bible thumpers, redneck and many other slurs. In my area their are plenty of young people who drive G6. What does it it mean? Nothing, just like young people driving imports in LA means nothing.
  13. Since when is the egg shaped Toyota Previa a luxury car?
  14. A 2008 Z06 Otomic Orange Corvette with the 4LT option and if old cars were allowed a 1969 Convertible Trans Am( my holy grail).
  15. I do believe pricing has and continues to be a problem. When it was first introduced GM said you can but a Solstice for under $20,000. Of course that was the stripper model that the dealers then added their "markup" prices. The dealer in my neighborhood has a couple of the GXP in stock and with their markup, they are asking.....$41,000. Yes it is a GXP and not a stripper, but still customers will get sticker shock when they see $41,000 foe a Solstice. I suspect they immediately write off purchasing the Solstice and move on to the next car on their short list. Dealers need to get a grip on the situation and be reasonable with the markups. This is shades of the 2004 GTO all over again.
  16. We shall see won't we. I have to give Peter more benifit of doubt then some other sources out on the web. You, never know Chris, you may make even more money for those "mid engined" Corvette spy pics
  17. I agree 100%. When I was reading the article I immediatly thought of the Cadillac Cien mid engined car being built alongside with the Vette. I am also afraid that a $72,000 base price might cost them a lot of sales because at that price point the Corvette is not really affordable to the masses. We will find out in a few weeks which way it will go.
  18. For what it is worth, DeLorenzo has some new insights about a mid engined Corvette possibly getting the go ahead in September. I know a mid engined Corvette has pooped out in the past via drawing concepts, show cars etc, but it seems according to DeLorenzo this time it is almost a done deal. He seems to have spoken to some top GM officials on the subject and they will make the desicion in September. I was planning on buying a Vette next summer but if the mid engined Vette really is a reality this time, I will have to keep my 172,000 mile 1993 Trans Am until 2010 to get my Vette. I keep my cars a long time so if I by a Vette in 2008 I would have to keep it at least 14 years before I would consider a trade in. I know a lot can happen in 3 years but a mid engined Vette sounds great. Here is the link for what it is worth. http://www.autoextremist.com/index.shtml And oh, let's have your opinions on the matter if it is true.
  19. I love this comment from DeLorenzo at autoextremist 3 down arrows for NBC. The card-carrying members of the anti-car, anti-Detroit "intelligentsia" in the media on both coasts love to heap derision on Detroit and anything to do with American-sourced cars, but oh how they love to lap up Detroit's ad money. This duplicitous dance has been going on for years now, and the fact that NBC is reeling from GM's Olympics decision is poetic justice. What's that old saying about not knowing what you'll miss until it's gone? Or, as NBC suits scramble to make nice with GM marketeers after the fact, the GM-ers can paraphrase the great Rod Tidwell with, "You lovin' us now, aren't ya'?" It's about time the media who loves to bash the big three get it in the face when they lose marketing dollars from GM, Ford and Chrysler. They can't have their cake and eat it too. I just ready the Friday paper on my morning commute on Amtrak and like almost all Friday's their is mention of the big three losing market share (this Friday is GM's turn). But I must also say there was a review of the Enclave which got a great review and was considered better then it'ss competitors. GM needs more of these types of vehicles across the entire Division structure.
  20. I love that photo shopped rendition.
  21. Just got back from Los Angelas where I saw my first two sightings of the "pig" and a couple of truck transports heading north on Interstate 5. It does not look any better in person to me. I guess Toyota did not thgink it would as difficult to get traction in the full size truck market. I would suppose the big three are also offering rebates as well with the price of gas remaining somewaht higher then we were use too.
  22. hey the Asstek was not meant to be a sports car. I like my sports car better looking then a box. Mid engined cars should look sexy with curves and not a design that a four year old could draw with a set of Crayolas.
  23. Retarded huh...well what has been coming out of Japan and the rest of the world is slab sided, so indications are it probably will be slab sided just as the concept cars were not that gorgeous or oraganic for that matter. Unless the styling departments do a complete 180 and sudenly move away from crisp lines and revert back to smooth, rounde organic forms, I say it will be slab sided. Time will tell blackviper.
