  1. I could have sworn I saw a new red Challenger in Antioch, California last Thursday ( July 3). Are they not out on the streets? Everyone at the intersection was pointing at the car...perhaps we were all fooled and it was a 70s Challenger, thought the poportions were more modern.
  2. I dropped my 93 TA off at the dealership yesterday for a possible blown head gasket, and while I was there I checked out the 2009 Stryker Blue they had in the show room. I was disappointed in the blue. If I get a G8, it will be a Liquid Red or a left over 2008 Ignition Orange what ever the name is. Now I have to convince the wife. By the way, this particular 2009 still has the "Atari" guages. So when will we get the three pod gauges as shown in the Motor Trend article? edited for readability
  3. LOL, if it is anywhere close to the blue on the Cavalier( or the blue on my dads old 1988 Camaro), I will have to agree. However, to my eyes the wallpaper I have on my Mac at home has more grey in it, looking a bit more like the blue on some BMW M3. But it doesn't matter, it's nots like we will get that color anyhow.
  4. They must be talking about the later 2009 models because the 2009 Sytrker Blue G8 at Mazie in Antioch, CA has the digital read out. I must say I am disappointed in the Strker Blue. I thought it was going to be a blue I had seen on a Monaro (the same years that the last GTO was built) wallpaper. It seemed to have had more gray in the color. Here are some links to pictures: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...l%3Den%26sa%3DG http://myweb.irongate.co.nz/mwdata/WestCit...%20-%20Blue.JPG http://www.red5.net.au/images/LS1/GOR2006/...onaro-badge.jpg
  5. I agree, since Smokey and the Bandit was released I have been a Pontiac fan. Even with the demise of the Trans AM, I had a couple of Pontiacs to chose from if I wanted to buy another car, namely the GTO, Solstice, and now the G8. They kill Pontiac, there is nothing short of a Corvette that interests me from a Performance point of view at GM....... At that point I will look elsewhere and GM will loose yet another former loyal customer. So now Pontiac has lost it performance designation within GM and management does not know what to do with it. Pontiac should have never lost it performance perspective in the first place and now once again it might be on the chopping block. CEOs in America are full of $h! and ego and don't know how to run companies. They get enermous salaries, golden parachutes upon retirement even when the company they run bleeds money. These f@#kers should have their salaries tied to their performance, then maybe we would get better CEOs. Oh wait, maybe then, they all would be chicken $h!s and not want to take on the task. Better yet, they should do what their Japanese counterparts do when the company they manage fails...commit harai kari (suicide). My apologies to all, I am very pissed off at GM management starting with Smith, Smale to Wagoner...POS.
  6. LS, didn't you just buy a G8 or am I confusing you with another CnGer? I know you want the ST, but for some reason I thought you got the sedan in the meantime.
  7. 1. 2001 Montanna, (thought I still own my 2 TAs that were bought new, they don't count). 2. The G8 is on my list.
  8. I agree 100%. I rented a CTS yesterday and fell inlove with it. My sneering Audi driving sister in law said "eww" when my son told her I rented a Cadillac. When she saw it, she was impressed. However, if Cadillac wants to become the gold standard of cars once again, then GM needs to at least offer the V8 as an option otherwise it won't be considered by import drivers. For gods sake, ship the cars to dealers with the V6s and have one or two with a V8 on the lot to let people know they can have that way as well. Otherwise as nice as the v6 are, Cadillac will be a joke to others. For me the V6 was fine and the CTS is on my shortlist of cars I want to buy.
  9. I have not leased or purchased a Cadillac ever. However, a couple of month ago my 93 TA may have blown a head gasket and so I pulled out the 85 TA from garage queen staus only to find out it needed a master brake cylinder replaced. While it was at the shop yesterday, I rented a CTS and man was it a revelation. My next car purchase candidates now include the following, a used 2002-4 Z06 Corvette, a G8 and now a CTS. I know all three cars are apples and oranges but now I can't decide. Once we secure our sons student loans for Cal Poly, I will be able to get one of these cars in a couple of months. For now the garage queen will be a daily driver until I get a new car, after which she will go back into garage queen status.
  10. While I thoght the last gen WRXi was ugly ( at least it stood out) but better looking then the Evo, this time around I find the EVo the better looking car of the pair. Suburu has turned the WRXi into a generic hatchback blob. Loose the ugly wing opn the Evo and itis not a bad lloking car. However I would not buy either because it is not my cup of tea.
  11. What did you expect from PCS. I lost respect for him months ago. Go ahead admin, delete my post. I am tired of PCS.
  12. +1 ... and the head gasket on my 93 (180,000 mile) Trans Am may have blown...things are getting interesting for me.
  13. Is it me or does the greenhouse look like it will be shared with the GT-R? It seems more blocky then the current greenhouse. Perhaps it is just the angle of the picture. If it looks like the greenhouse area of the GT-R I will not like it. But if it looks more like the current design then I think it looks good. 300 to 350 hp....sounds tempting!
  14. I checked out two local dealers in the San Francisco/Bay area (Concord, Antioch) and each dealer had one base and one GT. The base was marked up 3,000 and the GT was marked up 5,000. Seems they learned a little from the GTO fiasco where the Antioch dealer intitially slapped on a 10,000 to 12,000 mark up on the 2004 GTO. They are also willing to let you take it for a small spin , again unlike the 2004 GTO where they would not let me test drive it.
  15. ONE OF THE REASONS I COME HERE LESS OFTEN AND POST EVEN LESS LATELY. All these posers and yuppies, and yes I might as well be stereotypical as these individuals think their way of reasoning is the right way. If you do not buy an import and instead buy a car made by Detroit you are looked upon as a fool. The last time I checked this was the USA, if they want to drive imports , fine, let me drive my domestics and leave me the f@#k alone. That goes for neighbors, friends family and evryone else. I can find plenty of alternatives to the imports to satisfy me. This is A GM fan site, so yes are views may be jaded but I do not go to an import web site and post my bull$h! over there. If you are anti-GM and have never anything positive to add then shut up and go somewhere else.
  16. Great idea and name except in this politically correct charged world we live in, the GM lawyers would be afraid it might offend Native Americans much like it is made a big deal in professional sport teams like in the NFL, NHL, etc.
  17. I always liked that name and thoght it was original and played on Pontiacs other name plates. I thought it was stupid of GM to rename it Montana instead of leaving the Montana as a trim package of the Trans Port. I could agree with the G8 ST being called Trans Port but with the Alpha numeric naming convention now undereway at Pontiac, it would not fit.
  18. I agree it is unfair to compare a Pontiac to a Cadillac and I do not know why the rags do it. On the other, the reverse can be said about the 2004 GTO compared to 2004 Cadillacs in which case the GTO had the better interior and so in that regards Cadillac had no excuses.
  19. True, but I read an interesting point of view in one of the rags. When the 2004 GTO came out the press said it was one of the best GM interiors. However, now in light of the new CTS, they are saying the G8 interior looks like it from parts bin and looks cheap compared to the CTS. The CTS is the new standard for interiors within GM. I have to agree on this point, the interior on the G8 looks a little too hard.
  20. Camino, have you read DeLorenzo's rant (AutoExtremist) on the G8 Sport Truck. Basically he is saying this thing should stay in Australia and is hoping cooler heads will prevail before 2010 and remain in Australia, let alone come over here as a Pontiac. It's an amusing read and he is full of himself this time, but I still have to read his column every Wednesday.
  21. HeHe, A couple of months ago I got pulled over for speeding by CHP and I ahd all my gear right there in plain view in the rear hatch of the TA packed to the ceiling. CHP asks, "Are you going archery hunting? I replied, "no I am going to an airsoft event". He said that was cool and told me he would not give me a double fine ticket for speeding. I have to beleive the airsoft thing gave me a break. Still my ticket came out $384. The whole thing was embarrassing and stressful because I did not know if the cop was gonna be a cautious seeing gun cases in the hatch. Where does your friend go for airsoft. Anyhow, back to topic.
  22. I know it was used for the Firebird/Trans Am concepts, but I chose Banshee. Because of it's meaning, GM would never have the political balls to use the name.
  23. You know I never considered this variant of the G8 until I remembered I need to replace the TURD (Corolla AWD wagon that was rear ended and totaled) so I can carry my Airsoft gear instead of jamming all the gear into my Trans Am as I am doing now. In profile it looks sweet and this car will get noticed. I wonder if it will handle as good as the sedan. Anyone know how such a car would handle based on sort of past history. Is the rear lighter because there is less weight?
