  1. That is damn hot. It certainly get my attention if it was built and brought over as a GTO or some Pontiac
  2. And me with a used 2004 Z06(always wanted a Vette) to replace the 93 TA when it dies (currently with 177,000 miles), or maybe a GTO ( 4 seats) or maybe a CTS-V( again 4 seats). But since I always wanted a Vette it will most likely be a Vette unless I buy my dads 87 Vette that has about 40,000 miles on it. The only drawback to the 87 Vette is they are not as fast as a 2004 Z06, hell even my 93TA may be a little faster.
  3. The Altima for sure, but from the rear 3/4 view it does have some odd angles. The Accord coupe in profile looks likes a cheap Bangelized BMW to me. Way to vannila for me. EDIT: The Bangle comparisons was not completely accurate, I was thing of the Accord sedan and not the coupe. I have not seen an Accord coupe on the road, but I can not begin to like the grill because itn belongs on the Excrement or Pilot and not on a coupe. Overall I would still pick the Altima.
  4. Exactly, thats why they need focused products for each division. We don't need the same product for each division. Chevy is about to get the Traverse. What will happen to the Enclave sales, not to mention the Acadias and Outlooks. It's ridiculous to have that many models of the same thing. It's not the glory days of GM where they owned the market and could afford it. GM should not make more than 2 versions of each platform, and spread ou among the divisions. I do not see how Hummer in this new age of CAFE is pertinent. Saab is another brand that is marginal, I rarely see any on the road.
  5. Amen, I don't want to pay Cadillac or Corvette prices to drive a rear wheel drive V-8 performance car of some sort.
  6. I agree, just offer us at least the option of ordering the V-8. Call me a purist, I do not care about how fast four and six cylinders are, I like the sound of the the V-8. I have been driving for 30 years and all my cars have been V-8 powered. In addition I do not want the added complexity and extra parts that can break in a turbo, supercharger, etc. I want a relaible motor where I won't worry about more expensive repair bills. I acknowledge how fast the EVOs are and give them respect (no matter how ugly they are) but that is not my cup of tea. I cringe everytime I hear the high piched whine of a high stressed 4 banger.
  7. Probably a wise idea considering everything is in flux at the moment and making a decision that can affect future products should be weighted carefully. I just hope GM is not paralyzed and takes forever to make a decision on future products.
  8. I did not know I subscribed to that publication. Now we will see what else CAFE will do to the Vette and other performance cars.
  9. As much as I hoped that the C7 would finally get a mid engine configuartion, I have to eat crow and give props to Chris Doane . Here is what Peter DeLorenzo said; "Mid-Engine Corvette Fans. Publisher's Note - BREAKING NEWS (First Posted at 6:30pm, 1/10/08): I have learned that the often-rumored, on-the-front-burner/off-the-front-burner mid-engine proposal for the next-generation Corvette (C7) has now officially been shelved because of costs associated with doing the program. The challenges that I reported as being "solved" last August on Autoextremist.com apparently grew more complex, and because of that the volume proposition for the mid-engine Corvette came apart. To do the car properly would have meant limiting its numbers to the point that it would put the car at a price point far beyond the historical value-performance equation that the Corvette has enjoyed almost since its inception, even beyond the price point of the recent Ford GT. It's not clear yet how much the new EPA regulations factored into the decision. So now, the next-generation C7 will be in a much lighter and slightly trimmer package size, with traditional front-engine/rear-wheel-drive configuration. Even though engine choices are fluid at this point in time, an aluminum V8 will remain an essential ingredient of the next-generation Corvette. But you can also expect a dramatic, advanced, "alternative" powertrain configuration to be a prominent option on the car. So there you have it, folks, the fabled mid-engine Corvette is dead for another generation. And one more thing, it is said that the death of the mid-engined C7 will not affect the ongoing development of the next-generation Corvette racing car that's being developed for the new "EVO" rules due to take effect at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2010. That racing program, which revolves around a mid-engined car designed to new technical regulations, is said to be continuing as planned."
  10. I agree as far as output is concerned, but I am old school and nothing competes with the sound of a good sounding throaty V8.
  11. I see, but I wonder if we will see a V series with a V8 with this coupe. i just can't imagine a Cadillac witthout a V8. I better start getting used to modern realities. I can see this car as my next purchase, or a G8 or a Vette.
  12. I think the thing is hot. The thing that bothers me, is I recently read because of the new CAFE standards that V-8s will be relegated to exotics and in particular that by 2010 the entire Cadillac line up will exclude ANY V8s and rely only on high feature V6s. Can anyone in the know (our wonderful moles within Cheers and Gears) give us a little info on whether this is true? A Cadillac without a V8 seems ridiculous? I wonder how BMW, Mercedes and even Ferrari will deal with these new CAFE ratings. I hate politicians when they ram stupid legislation down our collective throat.
  13. I still have not seen any official pricing on the ZR1 in the latest info. Is it still $100,000. With dealer markups it will be very INTERESTING to see how high the price gouging will be. Some are saying perhaps $200,000 with markups. I am also sure we will hear all the crap about the interior is not up to par with other cars in it's price range and that you still have to take it to a Chevy dealership for service where you will get the usuall crappy Chevy service for this utlra expensive CHEVY. Who cares, I would buy one if I could afford it and humiliate all the uber exotics out there and be able to drive it everyday.
  14. hard to believe but trhat is the only part I do not like about the ZR1. The supercharger cover looks like a toy Transformer shield or something. It also looks gimmiky. It is not like a 360 Modena or a 430 that have beautiful engines to look at and deserve a big plastic window to show it off. On the ZR1 not enough of the motor is shown, just that shroud thingy and it looks goofy. Maybe I will like it in person if I shoud be lucky enough to see one in person, but I bet my chances of seeing a ZR1 are similar to my chances of seeing a UFO PS. I still would kill to have one.
  15. In the San Francisco Bay area I have not seen any BUs yet. On the other hand I have only seen 2 new Accords, a sedan which does not look that great in person and a coupe which has odd porportions in person. I have seen a Bu at a chevy dealership and it looked very striking in person. Still, it is front wheel drive and so it will get a pass from me and not be on shopping list.
  16. Generally, I agree with your statement that driving is a privilage. I take Amtrak to work (70.3 miles one way) to save on gas because my 93 Trans Am is not as efficient as mass transit in my case. It also takes one vehicle off the congested highways and I can get some work done on the train which is part of my paid work week. So, in my case I take the train not because I can not afford to maintain and drive a car but rather it does not make sence to do so in light of ecological reasons, foriegn oil dependense, etc. I strongly agree about your statement about taking the driving test in all manners of foreign languages. I have never understood how one can take a test in their native language and then be able to drive and understand road signs. At a minimum foriegners coming to the US should at least have a basic understanding of English before they can get in. This from a perspective of a foreigner who was French Canadien and became a citizen. Spending tax dollars on all these forign language tests is not my idea of well spent tax payer dollars.
  17. And the restyled front end keeps it pertinent to the market. Too bad it is not out now, so I can replaced our toalled Corolla that some dumbsh*t rear ended last week.
  18. Looks pretty good and I might have to look into one. Someone rear ended my son's Corolla when I was driving it last week. Yesterday, the insurance adjuster said it was a write off despite the fact we have a new engine in the damn thing. We will be lucky to get $1000 even thought the blue book is higher. Most likely we will look into used Vibes, G6, Cobalts, HHR and maybe Azteks (resale value suck but we can get one really cheap) and (yuck)Aveos. For the members that own these vehicles what has been your experience? Remember he is college bound next year so we want something reliable and safe with a minimum of monthly payments. There go my plans to buy a Vette once more. He really likes the Vibe but a new one is just too expensive for his first car. I would also consider a Ford or Chrysler, but no more imports from the big three.
  19. Reminds me of the Travolta Fever car that Barris built. That car had a saddle for the center console and furry cow hide on the doors....
  20. I hate it. Nothing you can't do at your local wheel shop and windo tint place. I hate the whole spinner wheels, whips and dunk movement. For me next to the "fast and furious" these cars are an overwhelming eyesore.
  21. Nascar is so irrelevent that GM needs to get out and go racing where the real men race. I stopped watching Nascar about five years ago and every year the clowns who are running Nascar look dumber and dumber. Wait a minute, I am starting to drink too much of Peter DeLorenzo(AutoExtremist) cool aid.
  22. Tonka called and they want their truck back. it's a no for me
  23. Love the interior...baby Vette interior. I agree the shade of red is a bit much. Hey GM start adding color back into your interiors. Remember the 60s and 70s with colorfull interiors instead of just mouse gray?
  24. The exterior is the best looking of the three but i like the interior of the Uptown version. I can but sence they are trying to cater to the DUB crowd with these trios.
  25. That looks interesting but I am not sure how pratical in daily life. I do like the front end and I hope it makes it to the production car. It looks more masculine to me.
