  1. Well at least you're not like me, take one 1976 chevy C10 22-gallon saddle tank, have it at 1/4-tank capacity, fill the remaining 3/4's of a tank with moonshine.....go driving around for the night shooting flames from the tailpipes everytime you snap the throttle.
  2. It doesn't really bother me, call me cold, but I've been able to disconnect myself from being on the scene of an accident after being on the scene of them so many times before (I guess I am cold-hearted), but I haven't lost any sleep over it, from what I know the dumbass that caused the whole thing has a cranial fracture and is still in the hospital..
  3. That thing looks HUGE but great.
  4. Well when I came around Mom and Dad had a Ford Pinto station wagon, traded it in after a wreck, bought a 1986 Chevrolet Celebrity wagon 2.8L V6, great car, never had any problems, only needed motor mounts when we sold it to the next door neighbor in 1996 as her son's first car. Next as a 1997 Buick Century, good car, but apparently crapped a transmission during ownership. They now have a 2003 Chevrolet ZR5 crew cab 4wd S10, great truck. My vehicles are the 1976 Chevy pickup (history behind it is in the reader's rides section), my 1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE2 coupe (totalled) and my current 2001 Chevrolet Impala LS. The wife has had a 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara (totalled), bought a 2001 VW Beetle diesel (traded) and is now leasing a 2005 Cobalt.
  5. Electric fence
  6. That car looks awesome, I definitely agree, next to a CTS-V I'd put my money down on one of those if I could.
  7. Ahhh "that" kind of parking lot accident, yeah those can be pretty hair raising.
  8. Yeah, parking lot accidents always happen, however this one was at about 65-80 miles per hour, a little different I guess.
  9. Yeah, diesel fuel will actually DE-sludge an engine....I learned it from some good HD diesel mechanics who always do it when it comes to rebuilding their engines....I figure if it works the same in a diesel, it'll work the same in gasoline (and has from what I see).
  10. I'm a Valvoline and Mobil guy, if its one of my high-performance engines, like the one in my truck, its Mobil 1 Synthetic 10W40, if its my Impala or the wife's Cobalt, its CarQuest-brand (see Valvoline) 10W30.
  11. Driving on my way home this afternoon from work I had the UNpleasure of seeing a pretty bad accident. Police and rescue personnel had not responded yet, however; being a helper on a few friends Volunteer Fire Depts, I responded as best I could. Apparently, a guy driving a relatively new Civic wasn't paying a large amount of attention to what he was doing, changed lanes without looking, ran sidelong into a Kenworth, got turned in front of it, Kenworth driver slammed onto his brakes, Toyota Sequoia driver slammed into the back of the Kenworth's trailer (happened to be hauling logs), then another Honda, this one an Accord ran into the back of the Toyota....after that things seemed to settle down a little, the accident accordianed pretty well and everyone was able to evade after that, a couple of smaller fender benders of course happened too, but they weren't near as bad as this one. Anyway, I hauled over to the side of the road, and immediately ran to the nearest vehicle to me, the Sequoia. Lady inside was all right, minor cuts and bruises, some burns from the airbag deployment, a log went through the passenger's side of the windshield and smacked the passengerside headrest. Her two 5-year olds in the back seat seemed all right, crying and bruised from the car seat restraints but unhurt. Guy in the Accord was pretty pissed that it happened but he was fine other than bruises. However, the guy in the Civic wasn't. He was trapped in the car and I couldn't do anything to help him except keep him calm and talking to me. Paramedics and police arrived on the scene about ten minutes later. I did the best I could but the guy in the Civic had lost consciousness by the time they arrived. The trucker was all right, but him and his wife (riding with him) were pretty shaken up. Apparently in their twelve years of driving, not a single wreck until now.....
  12. Crankshaft Position Sensor on the 2.5L engine in your Buick should be located on the side of the block, retained by a single moutning screw. There should also be a Camshaft position sensor IF you do not have a distributor on the car, it would be located either in the timing cover, or the head/intake manifold. The ECM on that vehicle is located under the dash, passenger side and yes it can be tested. In order to test the vehicle with the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light on, locate the ALDL (Assembly Line Data Link) connector under the driver's side dash. The two holes on the upper portion of the ALDL closest to the passenger's side (named Terminals A and B) place a paper clip in those two terminals, then turn the key to the "on" position. The "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light will blink the codes to you. Each code will blink 3 times, the first and last codes you will always see is a code-12 "single blink-long pause-double blink repeat". All the codes in the middle are your trouble codes. From there you can either consult your Vehicle Service Manual for the code definitions, or run by your local Auto Zone and ask them.
  13. Buickforsure just said it, you remove the two "dogbone" Engine Torque Strut Mounts and roll the engine around and you can get to the rear plugs and wires without any trouble. the 3800 Series II engine in my Impala took me about an hour to do a complete tune-up with plugs and wires.
  14. I don't think you harmed anything, and yes you can pull the oil pan and get out the broken piece.
  15. I'd definitely have to go for the Z28, hardtop of course and yes to the 6-speed....
  16. chocolate
  17. I wish that all of the GM sedans, or at least all the high-level ones like my Impala LS had door sill guards like that one, if anyone see's a set on ebay, or elsewhere, lemme know.
  18. eh its all right, worse could happen.
  19. the Lucerne isn't quite as low and its no where near as wide as a Park Ave.
  20. Polished Turd!
  21. Cars was awesome! I laughed all the way through it, the wife wants to see the new Stuperman movie, I'm not too keen on it (never did like superman), but I know I'll go see it with her. I wanted to see Posiedon just to see how it stacked up to the original, but at the same time, I heard all the reviews and decided to wait till it hits dvd.
  22. Actually I don't bob, I work at CarQuest Auto Parts and I am pretty nice in the over-all scheme of things, but I've been burned a whole bunch of times in the relationship market.
  23. emp, you could have just let me have my little slice of glory.....darn you
  24. All right, another thing to help with getting slude out of the engine is actually diesel fuel since it is a form of oil, just like MMO. I've used it for years now in my small motors, and use Lucas Oil Stabilizer in my cars and trucks. They all do a good job, and I can't really recommend one other the other since they've both been around for such a long time. I'm glad to hear that it fired right up like you wanted it to. Also glad to hear that its running better every time you fire it up. Just curious, does the car have power assisted brakes, or are you stucking driving it like a dump truck with manual brakes?
