  1. Hey look! That's a Federal Q2B mounted on the front of that fire truck!
  2. I wonder if Mitsubishi will have anything to say about the name VRX?
  3. Why is/was it called the "black tie?" Something I've always wondered about...
  4. Wow...who signed off on that? The color is great, but that's...it.
  5. That STS has HUD but not the special emblem in the grille that allows for the adaptive cruise control... is this new? Is there a non-adaptive cruise HUD unit available?
  6. This is just a little off topic, but what happened to the turbo 3.5/3.7 I-5 that was slated for production?
  7. I really like it. The marketing department loses ten points because of the backwards bowtie, though. Something that concerns me.... Just as the Cobalt came as the Cobalt SS and the Cobalt SS Supercharged, this is named the HHR SS Turbocharged. Could a tamer, non-deserving-of-the-SS-name, naturally-aspirated HHR SS be on its way?
  8. Welcomed = hazed LOL RandyMN certainly didn't get defensive when his vehicle was lambasted. I probably wouldn't have remained that cool. That said, my Town Car has truckier stats [save for not having a bed] than does the Ridgeline...however, I'm quite sure that most Hondas the same age as my Town Car that beat it at resale. I'm not saying what I paid, but it was a ridiculously low amount for a five-years-young low mileage Lincoln. Something's got to be said for Honda's resale...
  9. Yes, Chrysler has been churning out some low-rent stuff here lately (the Caliber interior is appalling) but let's bash where bashing is due. Out of the two of them, GM is sitting the the forward seat of the dinghy, but both of them are still behind the yacht.
  10. I'm not understanding the "let's bash Chrysler's interior quality" mentality so many share here when there are fewer GMNA vehicles with better-than-Chrysler quality than I have fingers on my right hand. Let's not act like GM has been awash in class-act interiors for decades now... GM ain't that far ahead of Chrysler. As far as that goes, our spare vehicle—a 1995 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0L 4x4—has fewer squeaks and rattles than either my brother's 2004 Sierra or my 2001 Town Car. And the Jeep has 225,000 on the clock.
  11. What an impressive list! The Cutlass Supreme convertible went through one restyle as well. Total convertible production for 1990 was 494 units. The 1991 Cutlass Supreme convertible shared the coupe's restyle and ditched the composite headlights, gained new front and rear bumpers and side trim. 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible (scanned from Standard Catalog of Oldsmobile 1897-1997) My 1994 Cutlass Supreme convertible
  12. Flybrian, I'm with you... it reminds you of the 60's-70's era Fleetwood 75. The only thing I'm afraid of is the sheetmetal between the rear door and the rear wheel that will show up better more on lighter colored cars. Of course, how many limos do you see that aren't black, anyway? Here's a pic of a 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 nine passenter sedan: http://www.northlandpcs.com/northlanddb/Ph..._Sedan_1061.jpg] Gotta love curb feelers!
  13. Don't assume I don't know anything before you start typing... that's a courtesy that I'll extend to you as well. For the past few years (part time) I've driven a Ram 3500 with 14,000+ pound gooseneck trailer three or four days a week and never once had a problem with the brakes. Down here in Mississippi there are quite a few nasty elements to contend with—dirt, sand, the dealership, gravel, rookie hands... The transmission, though, was a different story.
  14. Here's the Accubuilt DES http://www.cadillacdes.com/images/DESExt4.jpg http://www.cadillacdes.com/images/DESExt6.jpg http://www.cadillacdes.com/SCAN_1_2int.jpg http://www.cadillacdes.com/DES_Interior.jpg http://www.cadillacdes.com/00099_DE_02CC2.jpg
  15. Jesus people let it go... I'm sure Cadillac spent all of $3 R&D on the new DTS-L. It doesn't take too many dollars to decide to splice 6" of metal and glass into a car and sell it for whatever the buying public will pay. It's a no-brainer and Cadillac should be shamed for not doing it sooner. Don't lose any sleep over it. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Accubuilt, Inc. is doing the stretch for Cadillac just like they're doing the stretch for Chrysler's 300. They've been building hearses and limos for years now.
  16. OOOKKAAAAAYYY... Wow look! The new Silverado and Sierra same the SAME brake setup as my THIRTY SEVEN (37) year old hearse!! Why oh WHY do manufacturers still put drum brakes on vehicles? I don't care how great a truck it is, I wouldn't even consider it without four wheel discs. Thanks, but I'll take a Ram/F-150/Titan over the Silverado/Sierra.
  17. Well the overall purpose of both is to prevent stains... so, I think it's fitting.
  18. I'm take it or leave it on 77 and newer (downsized), but the 76's and older are great!

Blindspots can be all but eliminated if people adjusted their mirrors correctly. If you look in all three mirrors can you see the same car in both outside mirrors and the inside rearview mirror? Why have three mirrors if they're all showing you the same thing? Here's what I do: I lean my head as close to the driver side window as I can (think: ear against glass), then adjust my mirror until I can barely see the side of the car. Then I lean to the right (pretty much over the armrest) and adjust the passenger side mirror until I can barely see the right side of the car. Problem solved. Now when a car is barrelling up behind me I can see him in my rearview mirror and when he disappears from my rearview mirror he'll be in my side mirror and when you can no longer see him in the side mirror he'll right beside your car and you can see him in your peripheral vision. Before any dissenters jump all over this post and says it doesn't work, try it. It takes getting used to if you're used to seeing the same thing in all your mirrors all the time, but when you've grown accustomed to this way you'll never ever ever go back. Trust me... if this method works in a 21ft long hearse with the curtains all the way around it should work well in an itty bitty little HHR as well.
  20. I really like the Acadia in black... I'd rather have the Enclave, but I'd take an Acadia just for the Head-Up Display. Are there any GM press release photos that have a rendering of the HUD display?
  21. I can see someone driving home in one... "Look at our new car! It's the new Chevrolet H... H.... Hearse."
  22. Folks may rag on it, but at least you have two different engine options and as well as the option to shift-for-yourself on the 3.7L... Hate it all you want, but some car manufacturers put a 4 speed auto behind everything they can... at least with the Nitro you get some different powertrain choices.
