  1. I would post on this forum Two Guys Garage Forum They might be able to get you a better response since all they deal with is car questions and usually know there stuff.
  2. Maybe if you have it running stand behind it and just see if you smell any sweet antifreeze smell just for starts. But some very small radiator leaks are sometimes undetectable at first if its a fine leak but can you explain how much coolant you are loosing.
  3. Starting simple, replace your radiator cap and then go from there since if its somewhat old it could be the problem if it isn't holding a good seal. Also what engine are we talking about thats in your truck? And how much coolant are you loosing in how many days just so we know what we are dealing with? I take it your not getting any puddles under the car since it says leaks/burns correct?
  4. I agree with the puffs of blue smoke but not with the transmission going. The transmission is very solid, and I know I don't baby mine, but initial start i puff a very minor bit of smoke but nothing more the that.
  5. Yeah its not your fault anyway, who's dumb enough to swerve off the road for a muffler, he would of probably ended up with less damage slamming on his brakes and hitting it leaving only some minor front end damage if any. People these days don't ditch your car to avoid what you thought was something the guy threw out his window. Thats probably the guy that sees some wood on the expressway in heavy traffic and swerves and causes a pile up...
  6. Well I take that back about the replacing the wires since I just remembered the intrepid uses the coil on plug system so there is no wires to replace since the coil is directly on top of the plug... But my average mpg as of a couple months ago was around 25 mpg combined about 50% city 50% highway. But if I'm driving all on the express way then I can break 30 mpg. I can go up to traverse city from my location there and almost all the way back before I need to fill up again. But don't worry about it keep driving it if its starting to get better by the tank it might just continue doing it until your mpg is acceptable.
  7. What year is it since my 2000 that i have gets really good mpg with the 2.7L V-6 I would replace the oxygen sensors and prolly other crap needs replacing. Did you check the air filter yet? Also it might be time for a tune up(plugs, wires, and the such) small things add up check them out.
  8. The 3.8L engine in my 1987 buick century very peppy and durable. And it had decent mpg. I love the idle of my olds 307 and for the four cylinder category I say the 2.2L thats in my 2000 Saturn LS. Good mpg yet has plenty of power for everyday driving and the acceleration is pretty good for a 4 banger
  9. Well are you any good at welding or know someone that can weld somewhat good since that would be the way I would go. You get sheet metal and weld it over the rusted spots cheap to do yourself but a shop will cost some cash.
  10. Not to make it sound bad at all but its a decent get around car good mpg but its not as peppy as I like cars to be. Some things to look out for the head gaskets on those 2.0L engines kinda are known for blown head gaskets at least in my neck of the woods. My sunbird went through one and I threw on a new head since I had it apart. But I wouldn;t worry about that it still has low mileage. Some things to look out for is next to the blower motor on the passenger side look in that little water drainage area since in mine it rusted through and it would leak under the dash and soak the carpet. Other then that I would say go for it theres not much to lose for $200 and it would make a great around the town beater and when it breaks down pop the vin and say good bye...
  11. I don't think the salesman understands you since if you had a separate set of rims for regular and one set for the winter tires they would not need to be balanced since you are not removing any of the tires from the rims themselves. Hope that helps. Same with the last idea of buying aftermarket rims mount the winter tires on the stock steel rims and then in the spring swap out the winter rims and tires with your new aftermarket ones. Just make sure in between seasons you store the other set of tires in a good place off the concrete so the rubber doesn;t rot out.
  12. Now theres your problem dude forget about the meth.... Its not worth it buy a new set of wires and loose the drugs your not gonna make it anywhere making meth...
  13. I need some wood to build my crack house... I also have 8 bags of cement mix in my back seat... Too bad I didn't get them gas shocks from kmarts the other day.
  14. One thing about the jeeps though, they do handle decent with there 4wd in the snow its when you feel like you have full control that you screw up. 4wd is great on snow but not on ice as with any car or truck with 4wd people think o well I'm fine then they hit a patch of ice and bam thats where you lose it because you were going to fast.
  15. Well theres your answer why it was so cheap, no dealership I know would price a car cheap like that if it actually ran. They are all in for the money but its fun to mess around with those used car dealerships salesman. I love how they claim it has passed an 100 point safety inspection and you look at the brake rotors and they are all torn up and there is no brake pad left. Gotta love it, anything to make a buck.
  16. For my pontiac 1994 sunbird 2.0 sohc, my water pump started dumping out antifreeze today. I know parts aren't expensive but how much should I expect a shop to replace it for. I figure do the timing belt at the same time as well since they have to take it off anyway right? I hope its not over $500.00 because thats all I'm willing to spend and I don't feel like trying to fix it myself since I don't have much time.
  17. It is a rebuild and I know how they can be but I'm just gonna hope for the best and take care of it. The thing I'm happy about is the brand new Kumho Tires. Never heard of the brand myself but they are new 50 miles ago and still have the nipples on the sides to prove it and a new diehard battery.
  18. It has 125,000 miles but only 12,000 on the engine itself. And yeah I do plan on stoping that rust as soon as possible when I have time.
  19. Heres the pictures of it, my battery went dead... shouldn't of had the flash on in daylight
  20. I have very little surface rust and it is all just along the bottom of the door but I will try to stop it before it spreads.
  21. yeah got it today correction its a 94 but theres no major differences between those years anyway but its a great car. Just had to do some front swaybar work and replace some belts but everything went well now its time to wait till monday for plates. I find it funny that after you take off the coolant cap the thermostat is right there. Gotta love that if it ever went bad you just take off the cap and your done. One thing is it seems to idle rough in drive at a complete stop but its fine after you take off. Other that that I love the car and I will be saving gas money now.
  22. I'm looking at picking up a cheap 1992 sunbird from a relative it has the 2.0 L 4 cylinder I believe. Its up there in miles but had alot of mantenance. It just needs sway bar work up front , new belts, and a tune up. Its had the head gasket replaced a while ago and its done well so far knock on wood, but is it a decent car or is it going to be a money hog? I really want it for fuel efficiencys sake for just around the town driving.
  23. Man your a life saver we were talking about fixing it so much we forgot yes infact he does have a warranty and thats prolly a better idea to let the dealer worry about it and fix it
  24. It is a 4.6 northstar i double checked
