FRANKFURT: 2008 Suzuki Splash
Umm, GM already has the Aveo, which trails only the Yaris in sales. The Yaris sedan (much bigger than the hatch) drives Yaris sales, and the Versa is cheap C-segment car (similar to the Golf and Focus), not a B-segment car like the Fit, or an A-segment car like the Yaris hatch. Sales of the Aveo are up more than 30% this year (after taking a 14% hit last year after the intro of the Yaris, Fit and more competitive Korean rivals) and should reach 75K for the first time.

Need to *help* a colleague at work...
hamper, cooler, … In this class there aren't a great many choices—the G6, Sebring and Solara are all there is below $50K, none of them recommended by enthusiast magazines. Of course if she can hold off a while there will be in addition to the Mustang, CLK and 9-3 the Camaro in the next size down. European choices are mainly in the C/D-segment (Astra, Focus, 307, Eos, Megane etc.), off which only the Eos and the more expensive A4 and 3-series are available in North America. There is of course the Eclipse Spider, possibly not the most reliable ride but then when was the last time a Camry won an award for quality?

FRANKFURT: 2008 Opel/Vauxhall Agila
If you're thinking "the Yaris and Fit are bigger than that!", the US versions have a lot of padding on the exterior, as does the Versa (US name of the Tiida).

FRANKFURT: 2008 Opel/Vauxhall Agila
For a comparison of length: The old, taller Agila is to the left, the new, longer Agila further across. The 5-seat MPVs are: Agila, Cube, bB, A-Class, Ractis, Meriva, Sienta, xB, FCX, B-Class, and PT Cruiser

FRANKFURT: 2008 Opel/Vauxhall Agila
It is quite a bit smaller than the Aveo, but then so is the 5-door Yaris (Toyota is still competing with Nissan and unlike the Koreans and the other Japanese companies still hasn't quite got the hang of the European B-segment's size standards). The new Corsa is bigger again. Like most modern B-segment cars it is right on the edge of the C-segment, bigger than most compact hatches just two generations ago. While the Corsa is based on the same shortened Stilo platform as the Fiat GRande Punto, the new Agila and the sibling Suzuki Splash are based on the new A-platform of the Suzuki Swift and SX-4.

New Corolla?
Which one? JDM Toyotas still do not wear the Toyota badge on the grille, just on the tail. Most have a model-specific badge, but the Netz sales channel has its own badge that now identifies its models (noticeable on te JDM Auris sold through the Netz channel).

FRANKFURT: 2008 Suzuki Splash
You're thinking of the Renault Modus. The 1st-generation Agila (with its Suzuki WagonR+, JDM Solio and Chevrolet MW siblings) was unique as the only "MPV" in its size class (there is now a Chinese-market competitor as well). This new Splash/Agila pair have moved up a segment, and now square off against the Peugeot 1007, Renault Modus and Daihatsu Materia (JDM Coo, which Toyota also sells as the new bB in Japan). Assuming Suzuki sells the Splash in Japan as well it will also square off against the standard Nissan Cube (there is also a lwb Cube³ [three rows of seats], which is another segment up in size). The Mini, Nissan Micra, Toyota Yaris and Suzuki Swift are about the same size, but don't offer the same flexibility and space characteristic of the taller MPVs.

FRANKFURT: 2008 Opel/Vauxhall Agila
Much bigger though. It is within 10–15 mm of the Yaris hatch in length and width (understanding that the US model has exaggerated bumpers which make it seem bigger than it really is), but a couple of inches taller.

Flex in the City: The New Opel Agila Generation
While the new Agila is much bigger than the previous model, it is now more of a standard hatch rather than an MPV. It is now firmly in the A/B-segment, larger than Nissan’s Micra/March and around the same size as Toyota’s Yaris and the Colt-based smart forfour.

Flex in the City: The New Opel Agila Generation
Flex in the City: The New Opel Agila Generation * Urban mini-monocab balances versatility with stylish design Rüsselsheim — When it comes to the lifestyle of active women today, the watchword is balance. Job, fitness, shopping, meeting friends and getting around — a car makes everything easier to manage, and preferably one that is as versatile as its owner. This is precisely what designers and engineers had in mind when developing the latest generation Opel Agila. The result is a stylish urban car which is compact and maneuverable for tight parking spaces, yet boasts an interior that is spacious enough even for bulky sport and hobby gear. It also has enough seats to ensure comfort for family and friends. … Go to full release and photos at AutoReport

Spied: 2010 Opel Vectra
well, not everywhere. You get tripped up in some places with men's names that end in -a that everywhere else are women's names.

passenger vehicles (generally—the signum is an exception) end in -a and (agil-a, cors-a, astr-a, meriv-a, zafir-a, vectr-a, omeg-a, antar-a), commercial vehicles end in -o (comb-o, movan-o, vivar-o).

New Corolla?
Ummm, maybe. The US model will be delayed, as all the money went into the Auris hatch (widened, optional IRS) and TMS may think the sedan (more of a facelift) needs more work to stay ahead of the competition. Namely an actual increase in width rather than the Asian Corolla's purely cosmetic increase over the JDM version. If it was up to me I'd build a US version based on the next T-body sedan (tC sibling), but we'll have to wait and see.

One of Australia's longest-running nameplates is dead
I guess if Ford wants something in this segment they'll have to import the Lincoln MKS.

MG Is Back!
Ummm, most of this is pure BS. The cars for one are actually named MG3, MG5, MG7 and MG TF. While NAC MG is producing the MG7 in the same short and lwb versions as Rover, SAIC's Roewe 750 is a new intermediate size model. The Chinese approximation of MG chosen by NAC is Ming Jue, which is not "modern gentleman", but (rank of) a feudal Chinese noble NACMG translates as "Duke". NACMG also uses the phrase "Chu Ming Jue", in which the characters for "chu ming" combine to alter the meaning to "famous/prestigious duke".www.nacmg.com/en/
