For those who say how much worse GM is doing, this is how things have really been for a very long time. The cut in fleet sales is just showing the true picture.

Ahh, electro-hydraulic actuators move the valves down, usually with a built-in spring return. They can either be used to move the intake valves, with a normal cam for the exhaust valves, or both intake and exhaust valves. Lift and timing are infinitely variable throughout the rev range, and cylinder or port deactivation simply requires the right engine control program.

Does anyone know how to access files without windows?
thegriffon replied to Intrepidation's topic in The Lounge
Sounds like a hardware failure in an adaptor chipset. If re-installing windows doesn't solve the problem, there may be no solution but to replace the MB (I assume you have onboard graphics and sound adaptor chipsets) or installing the HD in a new computer. You could use an external HD housing to connect it to your old computer, but if it is a MB failure you may as well spend the money on a new MB or PC. -
Pneumatic/hydraulic valve actuation is coming. The first road cars should have the systems (there are more than one supplier) by 2009.

Ford, GM, Russian firm bid for Romanian Daewoo
thegriffon replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in Industry News
Craiova is the company which owns Daewoo Romania. It is not exactly the same company. The Russian company is JSC Russian Machines (ОАО "Russkie Mashiniy"), the subsidiary of private equity firm Basic Element which owns the various machinery-manufacturing investments, including automotive holding company GAZ Group (automobiles, trucks, buses, commercial vehicles, construction equipment engines etc.), aircraft company Aviacor Aviation, and railcar and container producer Abakanwagonmash. -
Buick dealers are remembering how hard it was to sell the last PA with a cheaper, if smaller and nowhere near as nice, LeSabre in the lineup. Rather than the PA cannibalizing sales of the Lucerne, I expect they are more worried the PA will be too hard a sell when customers have the much cheaper Lucerne which is practically the same size. Aside from a better LaCrosse, I would think Buick dealers would much rather have a Vectra-size sedan as an entry model, rather than a second, more expensive large car.

If they offer an auto at all I would think it would be a 6-speed. The manual may be a 5-speed, depending on the suitability and availability of one of GME's 6-speeds, as used in the turbo Astras.

* Azia Avto will assemble and distribute Chevrolet Captiva, Epica and Lacetti * First Chevrolets on display at Astana Motor Show this week * Strong market growth expected in next five years Astana — The first Chevrolets assembled by General Motors' partner, Azia Avto, in Ust-Kamenogorsk, go on show in the Kazakh capital, Astana, today. The Chevrolet Captiva SUV, Epica sedan and Lacetti compact models are assembled from kits supplied from General Motors' South Korean manufacturing facilities (GM DAT). The assembly of 1500 units this year and more than 3000 in 2008 will put Chevrolet in a strong position in a market with significant growth potential. Kazakhstan, with a population of 18 million, saw annual vehicle sales exceed 60,000 for the first time in 2006. Based on continued economic growth, this figure is expected to increase to 250,000 within five years. The cars produced in Ust-Kamenogorsk are to be sold exclusively within Kazakhstan. … Go to full press relkease at AutoReport

Ironic because GM has never sold so many vehicles as it did in the first quarter, 60% in overseas markets. GM could still revise their Q1 sales numbers in many markets.

Karmann do not "do all the other hardtops". They don't even do the Eos. Pininfarina does the Colt, C70 and Focus; Karmann the Micra, G6 and Megane; Heuliez the Tigra and 206; Magna CTS the XLR, SL, SLK and Astra and 307; Webasto the Eos. The 207 CC is done in-house by Peugeot. If anyone is the "leader in retractable hardtop technology" it's Magna CTS (the former Porsche-Mercedes JV).

There's a part of virginia that's not in the metroplex?

Since this is the archetype TE, I don't think they can "modify" or "stretch" it, although they may for future models.

Unfortunately with fewer brands, GM will merely have even less market share, and the same problem of too many brands for the remaining market share, and not enough revenue for adequate marketing. Eventually you get to the point where there is just one brand, and not enough market share for even that.

If there's a civil suit it should be against the state, which had a legal obligation to flag him as someone not allowed to purchase firearms under federal law.

Just for reference, it's between the G37 and Mustang in size, but much wider and a little taller. No mention of powertrain other than it's a hybrid system that GM has developed for China.

Ethanol vehicles pose significant health risk – study
thegriffon replied to aaaantoine's topic in Industry News
:rotflmao: Seriously, when is the last time anyone actually died from vehicle created ozone? How did he measure emissions? With a 1972 Beetle? -
What GM really needs is for congress to eliminate seperate domestic and import CAFE fleets, though of course this would also help Toyota, Nissan (whose import fleet is less fuel-efficient) Hyundai etc..

"Should of"?

I was thinking that, but then I remember reading there were cops apparently seraching the building and telling people to get out.
-
It does, it just doesn't run on battery power alone for as long as the Prius. That's the whole idea of using an alternator-starter. Even non-hybrid start-stop systems shut down the engine during idle.

Someone, yes, but you have a whole classroom full of people. If he's going to shoot you anyway, pick up a chair and then a desk and throw them at him, hard. If you have thirty people throwing furniture at you and attacking you you'll have trouble holding a gun, let along firing it and least of all re-loading. I understand that people's first reaction is to duck and hide, but unless he's just running by, that will only get you killed.
