  1. I'd rather have my lugnuts on too tight than too loose! Next time use a BIG wrench to leverage the tire iron.
  2. Yup... gotta love those FWD boats with Northstar motors. That's 90% of the reason I got rid of the STS. Good job on the "quick fix".
  3. That G-body B.V. picked up gives up about 2000 lbs. in weight & about HALF of its cu. in. Think about it. 231 vs. 455 So yeah, it's a little more condusive to daily driving. Our "new" F.B. averaged 16 mpg for the previous owner... he has 7 years worth of records proving it. (still in glovebox)
  4. Four Dealerships since 2000. I find it amazing that you're surprised by this trend... and have you actually ever whipped out a resume to get hired at a dealership? I never have. I stayed at Chevrolet of Lowell for exactly a year (to the day) and when I left to try my hand at selling GMCs & Commercial trucks I was seniority. Out of 12 salesman I was there longer than 8 others, in that year about ten had come AND gone... and this is absolutely normal around here.

    BMW resale

It's NOT "so cheap"... it has over 100K miles! I wish BMWs had bad resale, I'd buy Julie a late 5-sereies wagon.
  6. Yeah... I figured I should let you guys know I got ANOTHER Caddy. It's funny, the condominium parking lot looked like a Cadillac D-Body Club was in town last night. XP Stopped by with the '77 Banana Boat, I had my '86 F.B. sandwiched between the '71 deVille and my B-59. WMJ: The car is not beat to $hit in its entirety... the body & frame are in great shape for the year but the motor is VERY tired for 74K miles. My old tripple-silver '86 had 172K when I bought it in 2004 and it ran MUCH better than this old tank. There is no doubt in my mind this car was run low on oil on more than one occassion. The good news is so far it seems QUITE reliable, it has a new alternator & the transmission shifts like most RWD cars from GM, flawlessly.
  7. Yeah.... go modern cars. Manufacturer to comsumer: "you do not want a spare tire, or an oil dipstick, or a servicable ignition system" (at first when I saw this thread I thought it was about weight loss)
  8. Sssshhh! Don't even say that.
  9. B.V. You bring it on yourself dude, After you were unable to fix a FWD car from GM you go out and buy an even more complex and electronically jam-packed FWD Japanese car and assume you can work on that, and that SOMEHOW it will be cheap and easy to maintain.... Besides, that Cutty already :owned: your Mazda, it's twice its age and yet still on the road. If and when something breaks your local AutoZone will help you out for short change.
  10. I bought my first Cadillac in 2002 for the huge sum of $200. It was a 1987 Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance, white with a white vinyl top, blue leather interior, blue pinstripping and the spanish-gold emblem package. 132,000 miles. Then years later I bought my tripple-silver 1986 Fleetwood Brougham, this one had 172,000 on the odometer. Having owned several others over the past few years I got another 1986 Fleetwood Brougham yesterday. I took my paycheck and called a number I got off warped & torn FOR SALE sign and negotiated away. I had every intention of having this be Julie's car for a few weeks while we save up for a better domiscile but it looks like I might flip this one. This one has only 74,000 original miles, but it's BEAT to $hit. Gray metallic over burgundy leather, dark gray vinyl top. Here's the Craigslisting. http://boston.craigslist.org/nwb/car/422749059.html - - - -
  11. Camino: Trust me, I agree with you, if the circumstances were any different, I mean if there was any chance I might return or want to work there again in the future to ANY capacity I would have bit my tongue. This was the fourth dealership I've worked at... and it's the only time I've left one on bad terms. The owner's kids all get spoon fed while the rest of us are treaded with no respect. I don't want to write some 3 paragraph explanation but trust me, it was time to leave.
  12. I ahve no idae what youer talkign abtou.
  13. Wow! Congrats.
  14. Got into a fight with my pseudo-absent manager about an hour ago. I'm no longer a member of the Thompson Automootive Group. Swiped out, handed my card over, took my cigar box out of my desk drawer & drove away in my Fleetwood Brougham. Oh, that's right, you guys don't know about that yet...
  15. B.V. You have managed to illustrate how LAME Ford is but the point still remains.
  16. Quite a step up from some "Mazda Taurus" Next you'll drag home an LT1 powered B-body!
  17. Comparing the C4 to the C6 is like comparing the new Mustang to a 1974 Mustang II. I'm with Oldsmoboi, there's better brands to resurect.... But if they are going to bring back the DeLorean drop in LS7s or at least LS2s & mate them up to 6-spd manuals! That PRV 2.8 V6 was a royal p.o.s.
  18. Keep in mind this would be for my wife... not for me. She's all about how the CRV is "cute" and "if we had the Money I LOVE BMW M5s...." Stylistically the Grand Vitara is quite pleasing to the eye... The headlights, and the "mini-ventiports" are pretty cool looking IMHO. EVERY other cute ute... EVERY one, has a transverse mounted motor and as you guys know that makes me want to hurl. I hate FWD and I despise motors mounted the wrong way. I'm doing my best to keep her car either RWD or at least 4wd/RWD.
  19. Seriously Suzuki really stands behind their stuff. 3 year 36,000 miles $0 deductible, bumper to bumper, roadside assistance & (this is important) a courtesy vehicle (rental) 7 year 100,000 miles $0 deductible, powertrain fully transferable just like the 3/36 Not the non-transferable B.S. like Mitshubishi, Hyundai & Kia ---- Now again I implore you; find me a RWD/4wd car OR truck OR SUV with a ladder frame & (obviously) with a longitudinally mounted V6 that has an available (5-speed) manual transmission all for under $22,000 including destination, MP3 compatible stereo/CD with a no extra charge white-diamond paint option & a good warranty? *crickets chirping*
  20. In any career worth keeping the AGREVATION has to be baced up by enough COMPENSATION. Right now I'm getting very little of the later but plenty of the later.
  21. Cool. This maybe the first time we've been spammed in a good way.
  22. I see no Peerless and I see no Simplex but then again our computers at work here are crap... Lucky we are not still using those 1980s green screen IBMs they advertised on Dallas BEFORE it was a re-run. I'm almost kidding. Kamikaze Mitsubishi Zero... (I'm posting this from a Mitsubishi Showroom for extra irony!)
  23. So what IS the 411 on this beast? Keeper? Flip? Dad's car?
  24. Dream car is right. I love these 1960s concepts... for some reason they never reek of skepticism & blatant P&R bull$hit like today's "concept" cars.
