New York Auto Show: Scion Does A Two Car Teaser For One Show

Scion gives a preview of its two showings for 2015 New York Auto Show

It has been almost four years since we have seen a new product from Scion - the last one being the Scion FR-S. But at the 2015 New York Auto Show, Scion will not only have one, but two new vehicles debuting.

The first is the production version of the iM. We saw the Concept Scion iM at the LA Auto Show back in November. The model is expected to be European Toyota Auris and judging from the teaser picture, it looks like some of the concept's design cues will be kept.

The second vehicle is the Scion iA. The automaker's first sedan will take the place of the xD subcompact and will be based on the Mazda2 sedan.

“We’ve been eagerly waiting for this moment and are excited to introduce our new Scions in New York. Both the iM and the iA are tremendous additions to our line-up and will appeal to young people with different perspectives and needs. These cars represent the evolution of Scion and are kicking off a new wave of momentum for the brand,” said Scion Group Vice President Doug Murtha.

We'll have more information on both Scion models when they are revealed on March 31st.

Scion’s Double-Take at New York International Auto Show

    • World Debuts of Scion iM 5-door hatchback and Scion iA sedan

TORRANCE, Calif., March 18, 2015 – One look at Scion won’t be enough for guests attending the New York International Auto Show. It will take two looks (or more) to see the World Debuts from Scion. Both the Scion iM and the newly named Scion iA will be revealed on the eve of the show, March 31, 2015.

The Scion iM is a 5-door hatchback that combines maximum versatility with a sporty design and a fun-to-drive experience. Meanwhile the Scion iA sedan is designed to appeal to young people who need a little more practicality, but still want engaging styling and outstanding driving dynamics.

The “i” in the models’ names can stand for intriguing, individual, and easy on customers’ income. The “M” reflects the hatchback’s modern style and multi-faceted uses. Meanwhile the “A” for the sedan denotes the accommodating trunk and the aggressive styling.

“We’ve been eagerly waiting for this moment and are excited to introduce our new Scions in New York,” said Scion Group Vice President Doug Murtha. “Both the iM and the iA are tremendous additions to our line-up and will appeal to young people with different perspectives and needs. These cars represent the evolution of Scion and are kicking off a new wave of momentum for the brand.”

    • Their situation has improved.  Twenty years ago, it was bad like Venezuela is today. I have a friend who is married to a woman from here.  I bet he regrets it because he also "married" her very large overbearing Colombian family with very poor boundaries.
    • A very unique car ... best in white.  What could be a (Grand) Le Mans BUT with a funky front end, vaned triangular "opera" window, and the squashed down rear trunk.  Thankfully, the great dashboard is the one shared with the GP.  (Located in soulless Chicagoland suburbs that go on forever.) We had a neighborhood family with this car in white.  They were never friendly to us.  I don't think they liked foreigners (like my parents).  They were transplants from Iowa ... the dad was a blue collar guy and the mom was the customer service desk lady at a nearby supermarket.  I'd laugh ... the kids in our family have more than one sheepskin to their names and look and act Americanized.  How about their kids?  Maybe some token community college courses.  I would never bring up this sort of stuff except that they were borderline white trash a-holes.  They were the only people I knew with a first-gen Grand Am. Condolences on the loss of this good friend ... he was taken from us way too soon.  He was apparently a brilliant and impressive individual.

    • WOW, We all have to live within a budget of what we earn and can afford to spend, I just do not get why it is so hard for Idiot47 and his lemming to be so stupid that they cannot seem to understand this basic idea. ‘The nation’s finances have deteriorated’ since Trump took office, CRFB says, gaming out the scenarios up to a $28.5 trillion deficit As such, I now have to question the long term viability of living in this country or even making any large purchases which could very well cause auto companies to go bankrupt as people choose to not buy their second largest purchase behind a home. First biggest purchase for young people as most cannot afford to buy a home. So Sad.
