    Spying: Acura MDX

Acura is in the middle of giving their lineup a bit of a refresh. Motor Authority got their hands on some spy shots of the next model undergoing some changes, the MDX.

The MDX appears to be keeping the seven-seat layout and will share a good amount of styling cues previewed by the recent 2013 RLX Concept, including the bread-slicer grille and a sharper bumper.

The next MDX could also be sharing powertrains with production RLX. The base engine would be a a direct-injected 3.5L V6 coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Horsepower and torque are expected to eclipse the current MDX's 300 HP and 270 lb-ft of torque.

The other powertrain would be the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD delivering 370 HP thanks to three electric motors combined with the 3.5L V6.

The next MDX is expected to be introduced next year.

That Madame Guillotine grill is turning people away from the brand. I see lower sales for this model because of its inherent ugliness, regardless of the merits that accompany the MDX.

    • I love me some Richard Ashcroft and The Verve..   And Pearl Jam... And M83..   And back to the 80s, with Def Leppard.. And some Van Halen...
    • Been enjoying the fall weather, knowing winter is coming...out rolling in the Caddy last night and today--listening to a couple of my favorite '80s albums--Def Leppard's 'Hysteria' and Van Halen's '5150'...  then this afternoon took the Mustang out, listening to U2's 'The Joshua Tree'.   Has it really been that long since I was 17?   (yes).   Back home and I put on some Rush--'Subdivisions' speaks to my computer geek teenage side, 'Time Stand Still' really speaks to me at 55, as does Pink Floyd's 'Time'.  Going to put on Pink Floyd's 'The Division Bell', which was an essential part of my soundtrack through the mid 90s.  Got to get some Depeche Mode and Pearl Jam in there (I love, love 'Sirens').  I've also been enjoying some Great Lakes Brewing Company Ocktoberfest beer..going to start a bonfire in my firepit tonight and listen to more 80s-90s music probably...
    • I really like having a free mile-long beach less than 20 miles from home.  Went up there yesterday evening to watch the sunset and listen to the waves.   This was something I really missed when I lived in the concrete desert.  I keep folding chairs, towels, flip flops in the cars in case the need to beach happens any time..;)
    • Very nice.  Count your blessings that you have a free of charge or low cost happy place. It's tough to come to the conclusion that the pinnacle of happy places for me might be being aboard an ocean liner.  LOL.  It makes for a "kaching" problem.
