Hail to the chief, thanks to Toyota

This speech by President Bush -- who is fond of telling the Big Three to suck it up and build relevant vehicles -- is brought to you by Toyota Motor Corp. No kidding, Bush's speech to the National Association of Manufacturers Thursday in Washington was sponsored by four major manufacturers, including Toyota. "Toyota is a good corporate citizen and they want the world to know it," explained Hank Cox, vice president of media relations at NAM.

The four companies' logos were prominently displayed on a billboard outside the ballroom.

At least Bush referred to NAM's president, former Michigan Gov. John Engler, as "my buddy."
