July Ford Sales...down 34% from July '05

Recommended Posts

34% overall decline from July 2005, but Fusion posted best month ever and is now selling about 1000 short of Focus levels. The Milan and Zephyr are also doing pretty well. Retail sales up 7% compared with June.

Over at BON, Igor said the Hermosillo plant has reached capacity, so 14K a month will pretty much be the level the Fusion is stuck at until they start building additional units somewhere else.

Ouch. But 14K units is far from Camry/Accord/Impala levels.

GM is down 19% for the month.

Ford never intended at this time point to be breathing down Accord/Camry/Impala sales - they only have one plant running the whole trio, and they are exporting the product all over north and south america...

the plant - Hermosillo, Mex is running at 100% at al ltimes, and for now that is what Ford wants..

But i agree - they should ready up one more plant in the US, and build more Fusions there. I believe it is in the works, in as there are rumors Ford is readying up a Fusion Coupe and MKZ Coupe.

Sidenote: Inventory level for FoMoCo was 49 days for Cars and 83 days for Trucks at the end of July 2006 - quite a bit less than in July 2005.

When I was at the dealership getting my radio rpelaced, the saleswoman who sold me my car said that they had been really slow the last month or so, even with the $1000 gas credit. I guess people did their car buying with 0%. Or its been too hot to go lot hopping.
