Automotive News is reporting that GMC and Chevrolet intend on spending one-third of their advertising budget on the upcoming launch of their Silverado and GMC pickup trucks.

The new ad campaigns are intended to channel the "Like a Rock" promotions that still resonate with many full size truck buyers. Expect to see John Mellencamp serenading viewers with a glossy aura of "Americana" during the World Series and NFL broadcasts this October.

Sorry, I think that is a waste of money. They could easily trim that budget down a lot and still sell just as many.

Normally I would say it's two much, but neither of them have much coming out at the same time. Chevy has the Aveo and GMC the Acadia, but other than those, neither of them have anything that hasn't already been marketed, and these are the most important products for GM. Remember all the F-150 ads?

I'm not sure that I'd spend that much-but they do need to spend some money on these trucks.

Push the good stuff-and maybe gas prices won't be a major factor...we hope.
