Motor Trend "MT Confidential," Nov. 2005

Featured Replies

Just saw the November issue of Motor Trend at the bookstore, and, in a column of bits and pieces titled "MT Confidential," it was stated (in pretty much these words) that once and for all, according to their spies, the Buick rear-drive program is dead and there is nothing on the horizon.

What does this mean for the future of Buick then? Does future product planning hinge on the sales of the Lucerne? Is the Buick Lambda crossover the last to debut so that, given the worst circumstances, it could be canceled?

Pay attention to the insiders here as well as to Automotive News. Motor Trend is not an accurate source of information.
my "sources" tell me the buick rear wheel drive program is alive and well.

Thank you, ehaase and zoomtm for shoring up my sagging energy, after seeing that blurb. (And I certainly do pay attention to the insiders here, as well as Automotive News, but I just was disgusted after seeing that statement in-print. I used to read Motor Trend regularly, when I was a kid.)

zoomtm, I like that picture of the Lucerne, makes it very stately looking. The headlights really look like they are off the Q45 though, but I especially like the detail in the lower fascia. Now if GM could only promise me to include this level of detail throught the entire Lucerne range, then I might be convinced they are onto something, unfortunately i know the brightwork is going....
It's probably months old, as the info they get is published very late. That's why they had a conflicting report about Zeta right when we knew it was cancelled/back on (can't remember which, I think it was cancelled). For the most part, I think they're just delayed with the Velite convertible being cancelled, but the sedan is still on I believe -- just delayed.
