The Anti-Spinner

Featured Replies

Don't know if any of you have seen this in person- it's pretty disconcerting. Cap is very carefully spindle-mounted & the mounting tabs are cut off the back, rim needs to be perfectly straight. Tire turns, cap doesn't, weirdsville.

Very cool.

On a side note, whenever I think of spinners I think of these. A lot of people, around my age anyway, just don't understand that they had spinners back in the day. :P

Rolls-Royces have something similar where the wheel and tire spin but the center cap on the wheel with the logo stays stationary. That way you can read it when you drive by them so there's NO QUESTIONS as to what piece of garbage that person wasted all that money on!

RE: rolls' center caps -- yeah- that's tractor trailer tech; they often have weighted guages in the center that always read right-side up, tire pressure perhaps?

I do think that idea applied to keeping the logo upright is a neat, tho useless and complicated, idea.
