Hey guys making SUV's is the easy way out for GM.

They need to make smarter cars than the Asian manufactures.

Gasoline is never again going to be cheap.

With all of their research facilities GM need to take it by the balls and stamp the market with a new fuel system to combat the worlds dependance on Arab oil.

In 1969 we landed a man on the moon using a pocket calculator as its computer.Nealrly 40 years on we still using the 'internal gasoline motor'.

Comm on GM wake up and smell the coffee.

I don't think anybody believes SUV's are a "way out" for GM. They are a way to generate cash and demonstrate they can build vehicles people want to buy. The challenge they have is to build mainstream smaller vehicles that people will want to AND be willing to buy.

Expecting a revolutionary fuel system to be developed that will be the future of GM is naive. Even if it's possible it will take years which is a time scale GM doesn't have.

its not a way out, its a way in... they've got to keep their 62% market share in the SUV market, and gain popularity in the car market, they can grow tremendously in the car market.

rusty1- you mean like all the stunning engineering suzuki, mitsubishi and isuzu have provided the car market with? No thanks.

GM built and helped establish the truck & SUV segment while that segment rose to a peak of 54% of the new car market, while the japanese makes ignored the trend and are only recently/now opening truck-dedicated plants & bringin out semi-competitive product... on the downside of the truck boom. Oops. Once again- too little, too late.
