Jamie Hresko, General Motor's powertrain chief stepped down on Monday. GM Spokeswoman Katie McBride said on Tuesday, Hresko stepped down "to pursue other opportunities" after 28 years at GM. Hersko's departure comes about a month after CEO Dan Akerson moved Tom Stephens who was overseeing product-development to become GM's new Chief Technical Officer. Akerson gave Mary Barra, a manufacturing engineer Stephen's old job. A person close to the situation states, that it was Hresko's own decision and not a management shakeup.

Hresko worked at GM for 28 years, mostly in manufacturing. He became head of North American quality in 2006 and took over Global quality two years later. GM hasn't announced a replacement for Hresko.
