Volkswagen uses incorrect information for their owner's manuals.

Recently, the brake lights on the Golf went out. The first thing I did was look to the owner's manual to check the fuse. What do you know? The fuse it had listed for the brake lights was intact. That's odd... must be the brake light switch. After switching that out for one out of the Jetta, I knew something had to be up. I had a sheet I printed out previously for relay information and it also happened to have fuse information on it. I got it off of VW Vortex back in the day. I decide to check it to see what it says...

I guess something just gets lost in translation between the technical writers in Germany and North America.

I've found that to be the case when I've serviced motorcycles from import (Japanese) makes, but that's primarily service manuals. It's not often, but on one occasion with a Honda manual, the allowable dimensions for the piston bore were smaller than the piston, and they had mixed up TDC with BDC too. :P
